Synopsis

area as I have headed the Sales function for the Railway division for Timken in
the Indian sub continent. In depth experience of setting up the retail
distribution network in India and handling of the Distributor sales in India for
the retail bearing business.

for Timken and am still wearing the SCM hat. I have designed many supply pipe
lines for Timken in India.

Timken India Limited (TIL), is a subsidiary of the Timken Company, USA, who are
the world Leader in Tapered Roller Bearing, production and technology and were the
first bearing company to receive unconditional approval for the supply of
Cartridge Tapered Roller Bearing from the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
Timken has plants in 19 different countries and presence in 55 countries. The
annual turnover of Timken Company is close to 5 billion USD.
1. 1990 to 1996 – Worked as Production Engineer and later as cell manager in
the manufacturing area of bearings. Implementing the Timken design in India was
one of the major challenges so as to produce world class bearings in India. Worked
in different area’s of Manufacturing, planning and projects.
2. 1996 to 2005 – Worked my way up from Area Manager Sales to Sales head for
Replacement and Rail segment for Timken in India and surrounding countries. (KPI
was 100Cr sales) My core competency is the Rail sales and the channel sales.
Handling of high end distributors and establishing the retail network in India,
schemes, small industrial sales have been the forte.
3. Next two years spent as the Chief of India Supply Chain handling Global and
domestic sourcing. (Sourcing of 400 crores
worth of Direct and indirect material) I have been instrumental in designing new
supply pipe lies in India for Timken.
4. 1st Jan 2007 onwards has been the Head for the Timken Jamshedpur site as GM
Operations & still wearing the hat of India head Supply chain.

Purpose

part of the team which reported into the function. Have delivered year on year 10%
reduction in the cost of use for major Raw materials.

As National Sales Manager:


1. Grew the Rail business from 15 crores to 60 Crores.

5. Introduced from seed to flower four new LOB’s.

As Chief of Supply Chain:

Purpose
As Head of India Supply Chain Function, provide necessary leadership both at
operational & Strategic level on all supply chain matters. The main function of
Supply Chain is to develop robust Indian vendor base for Timken Company;
development and implementation of lean supply chain model (including systems) for
Indian operation and building a capable supply chain team in order to achieve our
company’s business objectives of customer service; profitability and cash
management on a sustainable basis. This includes meeting the complete supply
chain requirement of Jamshedpur plant; meeting the sourcing requirements of other
Timken plants (Brescia; Colmar; TSA; Mascot etc.) from India based vendors and
Order fulfillment and logistics management for Jamshedpur plant.

This Supply Chain Management has following functions:


a) Global sourcing from India -Meet Global Sourcing targets with respect to
identification of new suppliers, BUY value; procurement OTD; cost and quality for
India based vendors. The prime contact for Indian vendors on all global sourcing
matters including price negotiations and capacity management.
b) Implement commodity management strategy of corporate purchasing as
applicable to Indian supply base.
c) Vendor relationship management.
d) Capacity Management; Demand Management & Order Fulfillment for Jamshedpur
operations. Responsible for capacity utilization and customer service goals for
Jamshedpur plant.
e) Responsible to serve as an interface with the other Timken facilities that
