To Whom it may concern,

I will start by stating that I am pleased to have been asked to write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Laura
Hanson. This is one of the most important recommendations I have given in my 6 years as a Physician Assistant. For
me to have been asked to write on behalf of Ms. Hanson is an honor, something I hope will be part of a much
greater destiny this young lady deserves. I have known Ms. Hanson for 15 years now. She is the daughter of an old
friend. She came to me six months ago inquiring about the Physician Assistant profession. At that time I offered
her a shadowing opportunity with me so that she can learn the profession and see if she wants to pursue it further.
She enthusiastically accepted my offer and replied; ͞When can I start?͟ Since then Ms. Hanson has spent about 50
clinical hours shadowing me in my office to learn all the about the Physician Assistant profession.

As the lead Physician Assistant in Bronx Multispecialty clinic in New York, I am honored to recommend Ms. Hanson
as a candidate for the Physician Assistant Program at SUNY at Stony Brook. Ms. Hanson is a fourth year college
student at SUNY at Stony Brook Undergraduate Health Science Program. She will be graduating in 2 months with a c
Bachelor of Science degree; with a major in Public Health Education. She has been shadowing me in my Bronx office
since January 31st, 2011. From the first day she arrived, my office faculty and I were all very impressed with Ms.
Hanson͛s energy and work ethic. She is hard working, highly motivated, caring, and dependable. She communicates
effectively with both the staff and the patients. Ms. Hanson has also demonstrated outstanding clinical and medical
skills. During her time with us, Ms. Hanson proved her bedside etiquette to be personable as well as professional. I
can cite two prime examples where she showed compassion and sensitivity for her patients. One evening a
homeless man spent two hours in our office for a severe leg ulcer which required debridement of the wound and
proper education on treatment and prevention. Out of the kindness of her heart, while I was providing care to the
man, Ms. Hanson went out and bought a meal for this gentleman because she was concerned for his welfare.
On another occasion, she encountered a pregnant woman in our office who was almost hysterical because she had
not felt her baby moving within her womb for three days and came to get our advice and support. While the
woman was waiting for the lab results from the b-HCG test she took in the hospital a day ago, Ms. Hanson consoled
the mother and suggested to me immediately that we check for a heartbeat in our office with our Doppler. Once
we heard the heartbeat of the fetus, the worried mother was overjoyed and extremely grateful; her stress was
immediately relieved. It is obvious the true joy that Ms. Hanson gets from helping others in need. Additionally, her
intellectual curiosity and zeal for learning new things has been impressive. She has been an important part to her
school, community and our Medical office. Selfishly, I say that she has been a credit to me and she will be missed. It
has been a pleasure to have worked with her in this capacity. I am very pleased to have worked with her.

Through my experience of working with Ms. Hanson I have noticed her ideal healer and leadership qualities. She is
a friendly, positive individual, an outstanding organizer, a great communicator, an accomplished student and a
brilliant scholar. More importantly, she is a hard-working, dedicated, caring, dutiful, right thinking young lady, one
who puts the needs of others ahead of her own. These qualities she possesses make her an ideal candidate as a
future professional healer. I truly feel that she has what it takes to be a great Physician Assistant; as well as a role
model to others in the Healthcare profession.

In summary, I strongly feel Ms. Laura Hanson is worthy of being accepted into the Physician Assistant Program at
SUNY at Stony Brook. Although medical knowledge and skills can be taught, the ability to care while remaining
professional is a skill she has obviously mastered. Ms. Hanson is a caring professional and the respect that she has
gained from myself, my staff, and the patients is well deserved. It's not often you find such a bright, energetic
individual, who also has such a positive effect on the life of others as well as a true passion for Medicine.

For the reasons which I have discussed, I give Ms. Hanson my highest recommendation for acceptance into the
Physician Assistant program at SUNY at Stony Brook. I encourage you to accept this student into your institution
and further develop her into even a better healer and Healthcare professional. I can assure you that Ms. Hanson
will be a great asset to your Physician Assistant program. You will not be disappointed!

Please feel free to contact me to discuss Ms. Laura Hanson͛s qualifications in greater detail.
