Updated spreadsheet to include today's confirmed receipts. Based on larger task force spreadsheets,
I believe that the Australian $ 7.6 M was donated directly to the American Red Cross (State won't
see this donation in our records, and the Indonesian $ 25 K was a private donation ( I can see this in
Dept. records based on collection at post). Both of these items should be removed from the cash
spreadsheet.

september 5 with prime Minister Bajammal to thank them for
their expressions of sympathy on behalf of the victims of
Hurricane Katrina. The official Government daily al-Thawra
reported on September 1 that President Saleh sent a cable to
President Bush offering his condolences.

2. (Ul The ROYG pledged USC 100.000 in relief aid to the Red
Cross out of solidarity with the American people. despite the
fact that ~emen is one of the poorest countries in the world.
On behalf of Secretary Rice. Ambassador expressed his
gratit~de to PM Bajarnmal' for Yemen' s generosity. a symbol of
the strong relationship between the two countries.
