EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Teaching / Research Assistant, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC
2004 - Present
Provide research on Human Computer Interface (HCI) design integrated with haptic
devices and technology, virtual reality (VR)-based surgical simulator design, c
ognitive performance analyses on VR simulator users, medical application of defo
rmable tissue modeling and haptic modeling technologies, CAD / CAM modeling and
algorithm development, and telecommunication. Perform teaching assistance for En
gineering courses, lecturing, tutoring in labs, grading papers, and conferring w
ith other students as required. Present lectures during absence of professors.
Key Projects and Achievements
* Authored paper on surgical simulator fidelity and effects of time lag on huma
n performance.
* Served as Assistant in an international student summer research program at NC
SU from 2005 to 2008, handling program coordination, implementation, and logisti
cs.
* Helped organize various seminars and symposia.
Lab Assistant, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC
2008 - 2009
Designed software simulation programs for workflow analysis used in investigatin
g human errors during preparation of pharmaceuticals from barcode, working out o
f the medical center's Human Simulation and Patient Safety division. Produced si
mulation models to predict efficiency and error rates and provided sequential da
ta analysis for design and development of medical devices and workspace / workfl
ow optimization.
Key Projects and Achievements
* Productively conducted focus group to collect information clinical staff for
quality improvement, project and system development, and new system design.
* Successfully experimented with design and sequential data to develop and vali
date medical device designs.
Tooling Engineer / Supervisor, Shanghai GM Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China
2003 - 2004
Performed as a shift engineer and supervised a team of up to eight persons, incl
uding technicians, on a production line in an automotive plant that produces 600
,000 vehicles a year. Oversaw daily production work, assigned work orders, train
ed production line workers on quality control, QS9000, and machine operations. A
ssessed and improved production flow chart and quality-control processes.
Key Projects and Achievements
* Played important role in development of new model for china while assigned to
Japan.
* Led team of five engineers to Korea on special assignment to integrate design
project.
* Participated in two international projects to integrate manufacturing request
processes to achieve optimal process-driven process design (PDPD) for first loc
ally designed model.
* Trained production line staff to use SPC Chart as an effective tool for quali
ty control.
* Prepared documentation for QS9000 and ISO14001 audits.
* Acquired valuable on-site experience ranging across the entire manufacturing
process.
Research Assistant, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China
1999 - 2003
Held two select research positions, first in the Department of Mechanical Engine
ering for three months, followed by a 12-month posting in Ford / General Motors
Body Laboratory.
Key Projects and Achievements
* Assisted in evaluation and improvement of factory product design and processe
s for auto parts.
* Established test bed to validate architecture and interface standards for maj
or project.
* Selected to research positions as an undergraduate and continued following gr
aduation.
