acturing environment. An advocate for Lean Manufacturing, strongly driven to fin
d ways to save money, increase capacity and customer satisfaction while making j
obs safer. Experienced in many manufacturing fields, passionate about working wi

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Avery Dennison Corp. Miamisburg, Ohio 2001 - 2009
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Supported the Supplies division with engineering expertise including: modifying
equipment, data and cost analysis, process improvements, new material selection,
and quality enhancements.
* Saved a total of over $2 million in reoccurring savings through various projec
ts.
* Analyzed new materials factoring equipment speed into the cost. Determined and
recommended the materials that would provide a lower total cost which resulted
in a savings of $570,000 annually.
* Through testing and analysis, reduced one material's coat weight and eliminate
d another material, resulting in a savings of $220,000 annually.
* Discovered a bottleneck process affecting over half of the plant. Modified the
equipment to increase its speed. This increased the capacity and utilization of
the entire department by 30%, thus lowering material costs to two divisions.
* Identified the cause of costly inventory errors, and drove the development and
implementation of an engineering change process which eliminated such errors, i
mproving quality and reducing scrap.
* Identified and corrected more than a dozen OSHA violations including unguarded
pinch points, blocked access to electrical panels, workers climbing on equipmen
t over six feet high without safeguards, inoperable e-stop cords, and a structur
ally compromised crane. As a result of correcting these long-term, previously un
noticed hazards, OSHA fines and further employee injuries were prevented.
* Gathered and analyzed data for senior management to assist in decision making
on numerous projects. Performed on-going cost analysis work to identify system-w
ide costing inaccuracies.

Flowserve Corporation Dayton, Ohio 1987 - 2000

Manufacturing Project Manager 1998 - 2000
As a direct report to the vice president of operations, was responsible for plan
t-wide improvement efforts making the plant the most profitable in the division
in 1999.
* Earned the Chairman's Award for Outstanding Personal Achievement; an award gra
nted to only five people out of 7,000.
* Designed and implemented a quick-ship assembly operation. This improved on-tim
e delivery from 84 to 96%, reduced assembly lead time from four weeks to two day
s, reduced assembly work in process by 90%, and doubled assembly productivity. N
egotiated with the union leaders to adjust union rules in order to implement thi
s.
* Co-led a diverse team to improve competitive strategy by adopting Lean Manufac
turing initiatives. Led meetings to sell the strategy to top company management
and plant floor employees. Plant's profit increased $1.3 million, and inventory
was reduced by 30%.
* Drove quality improvements saving over $300,000 annually.
Project Engineer 1994 - 1998
Supported the Assembly and Miscellaneous Machining Departments
* Moved the assembly, paint, and crating operations, plus seven two-ton overhead
cranes into a new building without losing a day of production.
* Solved complex paint process problems, improving customer satisfaction and sav
ing $50,000 annually.
* Solved quality problems in the clean room process by inexpensively modifying e
quipment and changing procedures. This satisfied an important customer's complai
nts and retained their $250,000 annual business.
Industrial and Foundry Engineer 1987 - 1994
Responsible for supporting the Resin Shell Department, and doing time studies as
assigned.
* Implemented an SPC system to discover the cause of excessive product variation
thereby satisfying an important customer.
* Analyzed scrap causes and devised rigging or methodology changes to reduce shr
ink scrap by 46%, eliminate flashing problems, and implement metal filtration, c
o-authoring an article in the American Foundry Society Transactions, "Filtration
of High-Alloy, Corrosion-Resistant and Nickel-Base Valve Body Castings".
