• This document provides information about the Hitachi AMS 2000 Family Storage
System Firmware version 0850/C that was not available at the time the technical
documentation for this product was published. It also includes a list of known
problems and solutions related to the firmware.

Intended Audience

• This document is intended for customers and Hitachi Data Systems authorized
service partners who license and use the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000
Family Storage Systems.

• After you log in, the Hitachi Data Systems Support Portal page is displayed.

About This Release

• These release notes cover the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family
firmware version 0850/C.

New Features and Important Enhancements

• AMS2500: The 0850/C firmware supports the new high-end modular array
• AMS 2100 and AMS2300: The 0850/C firmware supports iSCSI connectivity to
host computers.
• AMS 2500: The 0850/C firmware supports external battery power for this new
model in the AMS 2000 Family hardware.
• AMS 2100/2300/2500 models: The 0850/C firmware includes support for SAS
450 GB disk drives.

New System and Hardware Requirements

• Storage Navigator Modular 2 version 5.02 or later is required to use this

firmware.

Fixed Problems

• When the RST (reset) switch on one of the controllers is pushed, the other
controller may block.
• A controller failure occurs while the array is booting.
• PIN over or Host I/O performance decreases while ENC firmware is being
downloaded.
• HDD block or PINover occurs when another HDD was blocked
• Controller is blocked with "Microprogram error[FSM]" when a CHK1 reset
occurs.
• An illegal HDD or ENC is blocked when one controller is blocked.

• Controller is blocked with "Microprogram error[CMD]" when Host I/O traffic is

high.
• If an array is booting when an ENC unit fails, the boot process fails and the
array shuts down.
• When the array sends a “queue full” status to a host, the controller is blocked.
• ENC failure occurs when removing an ENC or an ENC cable.
