Lead Structural Engineer contributing expertise and sound engineering practices
in the design of 3 new Metro Stations along the 20 mile extension of Dulles Corr
idor Metrorail Project. Primary structural engineering accomplishments include:
conception to completion design of a 333 ft long by 56 ft wide Vault Roof syste
m covering the entire mezzanine level of 3 Stations, development and design of m
ezzanine composite steel floor system and reinforced concrete slab for 2 Station
s.
* Created and refined several 3-dimensional structural computer models encompass
ing all the structural elements from the station foundation up to the Vault Roof
, and including all member loads and specifications required for Analysis and De
sign.
* Produced load calculations for 3 Stations including wind loads, seismic loads,
thermal loads, snow loads, dead loads and live loads, as required by ASCE-7, IB
C, AISC, and ACI engineering codes.
* Developed alternative design solutions to satisfy client needs, project specif
ic requirements, and engineering code compliance.
* Participated in multi-discipline design coordination and constructability asse
ssment with the Structural team, Architectural team, Mechanical team, Civil team
, Bridge team, Electrical team, and Geotechnical team to ensure a quality final
design.
AIA ENGINEERS INC, Springfield, VA 2006 to 2008
PROJECT MANAGER:
* Managed and planned Structural Inspections for Highway Sign structures and Bri
dges for multiple consultant contracts.
* Organized and Created an efficient and effective inspection strategy to keep a
ll projects on schedule and under budget.
* Coordinated w/ Maintenance of Traffic Teams and organized inspection equipment
for safe and efficient work performance.
* Interviewed candidates and assembled engineering teams to meet the needs of mu
lti-million dollar projects.
* Completed successfully a 2 year inspection contract, contributing significantl
y to the growth and profitability of the company.
PULTE HOME SCIENCES, Manasas, VA 2004 to 2006
SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER:
Focused engineering to drive faster design cycles times, higher profit margins,
and improved customer satisfaction in home building technology. Designed and eng
ineered components produced using state of the art machinery, engineering includ
es: pre-cast foundation walls, open metal web floor systems, cold-rolled steel w
alls and structural insulated exterior wall panels.
* Supervised and trained members of the product engineering team.
* Designed major structural elements - foundations, engineered flooring systems,
exterior SIP walls, and light gage steel walls.
* Planned and coordinated with manufacturing, process engineering, product engin
eering, purchasing, and field construction teams to produce a cost effective, hi
gh quality single-family home delivery systems.
* Assisted in the analysis and re-engineering of structural elements to meet rev
ised wind load code requirements.
* Reviewed and revised for quality control, all structural wall designs prior to
release for manufacturing and construction.
LEGION DESIGN/CAMPBELL & ASSOCIATES, Washington, DC 1996 to 2004
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER:
Project Engineer/Team member in directing structural design, analysis and inspec
tion. Work in a fast paced environment able to
multi-task and collaborate to foster team's performance on multimillion-dollar p
rojects. Structural design , analysis and inspection
projects included Interstate Highway interchanges, WasteWater Treatment Faciliti
es, Parking Structures, and Local and Regional
Bridge Projects in DC, VA, WV, MD, and PA.
* Designed entire bridge structures with both steel girder and pre-stressed conc
rete girder superstructures.
* Developed advanced bridge and highway geometry calculations using computer sof
tware to achieve extreme precision.
* Conducted structural analysis of reinforced concrete walls, and beams and desi
gned a steel frame building for mechanical and structural upgrades to wastewater
treatment facility.
