I am glad to inform you that you have been selected to join the Final Round UTSE-2011 in the form
of a 3-day orientation-cum-selection camp to be held during 22 - 24, April 2011 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya,
Chhend, RKL. (Top 107 candidates have been invited to the camp)
* You are placed in rank __________ in the merit list of UTSE-2011 held on 6.2.2011
Camp:
Objectives: (i) Counselling, orientation and motivation for a prospective science career and developing
confidence in national/international level competition
(ii) Selecting and awarding the top 20 with prizes, mementoes and certificates on the basis of
the combined results of both 1st stage test held on 6.2.2011 and final test to be held on the closing day of the
camp(24.4.2011).
(iii) Deliberations on a few important topics in physical science(chemistry and physics) by
experienced teachers from college and university levels. More emphasis will be given on chemical science as
the performance in the 1st stage test in chemistry has been found to be poor.

Chemistry: Logic of Chemical Reactions; Atomic Structure, Periodic classification of elements, Chemical
Bonding, Mole Concept. Besides these, some other topics in chemistry will be covered which will be given in
our website by 5th April 2011.
Physics: Electromagnetism and Optics
* STAYING IN THE CAMP AT NIGHT IS NOT COMPULSORY . Candidates can stay at
their own houses or relative’s houses at night at Rourkela. Excepting the opening day on which the
camp proceedings will start at 10AM, on the other days, activities will start at 8AM and end at 8.30PM.
So the day scholars are to take their lunch in the camp compulsorily, if not morning breakfast and night
dinner.
Since we had no plans to conduct the camp this time and we are changing our schedule to have
the camp this time, some of the participants might not be mentally prepared for attending the camp. So
we request all to kindly bear with the change of our schedule which has been done on demand from the
students and their parents. In the worst case, if the participant ranked within top 20 in the 1st stage test
cannot attend the camp at Rourkela, his/her memento and certificate will be sent to his/her school in
July 2011. We deeply regret for the inconvenience due to change of schedule.
* The Uranium reserves all rights to expel a participant from the camp at any time if he/she is found to
indulge in any indiscipline activities in the class room or outside. Therefore participants are required to maintain
strict discipline and abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and the camp which are to be explained
on the starting day.
* Comforts of home living cannot be provided to the participants staying in the camp. However utmost
care will be taken for descent sanitary facilities and supply of hot and hygienic food.
Accommodation, food and Study Materials
Participants will be provided free accommodation in the school. Separate arrangements will be made
for girls. Food (four times a day) and study materials will be provided to the participants.
TA: No travel expenses will be provided to the participants or their accompanying persons for attending the
camp.
Registration Fee:
A registration fee Rs. 550/- will be collected from each participant during registration time (8-9AM of
the starting day)
ACCOMPANYING PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Accompanying parents/guardians/science teachers are normally not allowed to stay in the
camp.However, under unavoidable circumstances we shall allow them to stay in the camp with the students in
the same campus under identical facilities(living and food). For that the accompanying persons should have to
pay an additional amount of Rs.550/- per person All parents are requested to be present during inaugural
meeting (9.30-10AM) on the starting day and valedictory/prize giving ceremony at 3PM on the closing
day(24th) to encourage their wards. The participants will be relieved from the camp on the closing day at about
4.30PM.
SCHOOL UNIFORM : Participants have to wear school uniforms while attending the classes.
WHAT ARE TO BE BROUGHT BY YOU AND ACCOMPANYING PERSONS (THOSE STAYING
IN THE CAMP)
1. Steel/plastic plate for taking food 2. Steel glass 3.Water bottle to store water 4. plastic mug
5. Bath room chappal 6. mosquito coil/liquid repellant 7. candle and match box 8. small torch(if possible)
9. Two bed sheets and a pillow. (Note that the participants will be accommodated in class rooms with
carpet(DARI) spread on the floor. Since it will be summer nights during those periods, no thick bed is
required. So a bed sheet will serve the purpose of bed) 10. Note book and pen 11. Required
dresses for 3 days including towel. 12.Soap and other necessary things for daily use
CULTURAL PROGRAMME: Cultural programme in the form of a competition will be organised at 2PM
on 24th, April. The participants are advised to come prepared if they have some artistic talent like music,
dance, mono action etc. They will get enough chance to display that and be awarded for it.
BOOK EXHIBITION: A few reference science books will be exhibited during the camp for sale in discounted
prices. The participants interested to buy books should carry some cash( Rs.500/- maximum). However the
buying of books from the exhibition is purely optional.

attend the valedictory cum prize giving ceremony of the camp on closing day at 3 PM.
CONFIRMATION FOR PARTICIPATION: The parents/guardians of selected candidates who wish to
join the camp have to give their willingness to Dr. S. S.Tripathy, President, The Uranium, Friends
Colony,Cuttack by email(theuraniumodisha@gmail.com / sudhansu.trips@gmail.com)as well as confirm
telephonically (0671-2427385/9337521001/9437064155)about the participation on or before April 5,2011
failing which the candidate will forfeit the claim to join the camp. The accompanying persons who intend to stay
in the camp have to inform while sending the willingness of their wards so that arrangements will be made for
them.
(Those not joining the camp will receive only a certificate of merit in July 2011 alongwith many others
who have qualified in UTSE-2011)
