The Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a 198-bed facility opera
ted by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, provides rehabilitation an
d long-term skilled nursing care for Palm Beach County residents over the age of
21 with traumatic injuries or debilitating illnesses, including head trauma and
spinal cord injuries.
Social Program Manager
Retained to build an effective program curriculum for a unique demographic of mo
stly young men. Revised a curriculum that would have been appropriate for elderl
y patients to meet the entertainment and therapeutic needs of the actual patient
demographic. Directly supervised a program staff of five.
* Increased the number of program offerings from 40 to 90 and improved attendanc
e by 500% to 600%.
* More than tripled average ratings scores for programs by staff, patients, refe
rring agencies, and families.
* Established new partnerships with community-service agencies, local businesses
, and religious and charitable organizations.
* Employee of the Month, 6 times in 1 year; Most Significant Employee rating fro
m Social Workers, therapists, and patient relatives.

The facilities are closely related retirement, assisted living, and nursing faci

Facility Manager
Retained by an investor as an administrator for a failing facility, Leisure Livi
ng, that had been on state moratorium and that was in danger of loss of operatin
g license. Restructured the staff, improved the quality of life for patients, ad
ded new staff and activities, and reestablished working relationships with the o
verseeing state agency. Encouraged a proactively humanitarian approach to patien
t care and trebled rent levels.
* Restored the facility to fully state-approved status and raised census from 40
% to full capacity at 100%.
* Was promoted to oversee operations of other properties and succeeded in increa
sing occupancies of all facilities to 100%, enable a sale to [Confidential] Heal
thcare for $10 million against an initial investment of $200,000 for the then-fa
iling facilities.
* Was recommended for the position by AHCA executives as a manager capable of ke
eping the much-needed facility in operation.

The agency regulates and licenses healthcare facilities statewide.
Executive Assistant to the Regional Supervisor
Supervised more than 150 facility inspectors and administrative support staff on
10 teams responsible for monitoring the operation and condition of nursing home
s, assisted-living facilities, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities in a 7
-county region, including Palm Beach County. Had final decision-making responsi
bility for denial of licensure, statements of deficiencies, moratoriums, and fin
es for non-compliant facilities.
