Dinosaurs: Fruit of the Spirit – Peace

Review Ankylosaurus. Review Love. Review Kentrosaurus and Joy.

Remember: We are going to talk about what dinosaurs look like and what God
wants us to look, act and talk like. We are to be the opposites of dinosaurs. We
are going to study herbivores. What are herbivores? What do they eat? Let’s
learn about an unusual dinosaur. How many of you have heard of an

Today we are going to talk about the Torosaurus.

Read the card.

What have you learned about this dinosaur?

This dinosaur has a large horn. What do you think that horn was for? I think he
looks pretty viscous. What about you – what dos he look like?

What do you think he uses his horn for? If you had a horn, what would you use it
for? What is the purpose of a horn like that? Fighting, defending, hurting others,
etc.

Now – turn around and face the other direction because God wants us to be the
opposite of the dinosaurs.

God wants us to have attitudes and actions that are opposite of the dinosaurs.
He wants us to have – what have we learned so far – love, joy…and peace.
Today, we are going to talk about peace.

Remember: God wants us to be like fruit – seriously – fruit. Now – we just

learned about a herbivore called the what? Okay – he eats plants maybe even
fruit. But just because he eats fruit and plants doesn’t mean he acts like fruit.
God wants us to have the attitudes of the fruit of the Spirit. What are the fruit of
the Spirit, you ask? Well…they can be found in the Bible in Galatians. Galatians
is a letter in the New Testament. It was written by Paul to the Christians in
Galatia.

Galatians 5:22-23 (New International Version)

22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such
23

things there is no law.

The Torosaurus was not about peace. He was about fighting and
hurting others.

What is peace? What does peace look like? How can we have peace?
I want to share some verses about peace:

Many, many times God said – “Go in peace.” What does that mean?

Psalm 29:11
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people
with peace.

Psalm 34:14
Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Proverbs 12:20
There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those
who promote peace.

Proverbs 14:30
A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his
enemies live at peace with him.

Proverbs 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting,
with strife.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as
the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be
afraid.

The Torosaurus was designed for fighting. God, though, designed us

to love and have peace. We are not designed to fight and argue but
instead to be at peace. Practice peace. Choose to peaceful.

Don’t be like the dinosaur – but have peace. Jesus gave it to us – it is

good for us. We need to choose to have and live in peace.

What have you learned today? How will you be different from
dinosaurs?

Pray.
