MONDAY Mental & Oral starter: Count back, Youre out. Roll 2 large dice & add the numbers. Roll a third dice and that number needs to be subtracted. If they answer correctly they stay in the game. Play moves to the next member on the right. Whole Class Tuning in: Remind chn of the count back strategy. Demonstrate using a counting stick or ruler. Model 14-4=10 with your finger starting at 14 on the counting stick and counting back. Discuss how this strategy can be helpful and a good visual tool. Show how you can do this with a number line. Give each child a number line 0-20.

TUESDAY Mental & Oral starter: Play 100 BOB. Start with multiples of ten. Count around in a circle each child says the next number. When the player gets to ten they say BOB and sit down. Time this to get faster. Whole Class Tuning in:

WEDNESDAY Mental & Oral starter: Count in 2s, 5s, 10s using the 100 square on the IWB. Ask the chn to use the 100 square to answer various equations. Remind them of Monday when we used a number line to count back. Whole Class Tuning in: Place some number cards on the floor. Ask a child to pick a card and have another child find the correct base 10 minis. Now ask them to show the number if they doubled it. place another mini on the floor to show how the number is doubled. Continue with several examples.

THURSDAY Mental & Oral starter: Play guess the number. Ask a child to choose a number from 0-100 They have to give three clues. Chn can also ask questions to guess the number. is it higher than 20? Is it an even number? Whole Class Tuning in: Use sticky notes for chn to come up and place on numbers you call out on the 100 square on the IWB. Or use 100 splat square. Start with 27 and count in tens. What pattern do you see? Repeat with other examples.

FRIDAY Mental & Oral starter: Play make the pattern. Give chn one attribute block each. Using the block they make a pattern by placing it in the circle. Each child has a go at adding to the pattern. How did we continue the pattern? Whole Class Tuning in: Tell the chn that shapes can flipped, slid and turned to make patterns. Demonstrate a flip: flipped over, slide: movement in any direction and a turn: rotated. Model a Quarter turn and a half turn. (MP pg 150) Chn to use shapes to finish the pattern using flips, slides and turns

10 mins Introduction , key vocabulary, modelled examples, explicit teaching WALT WILT

With a 100 square on the IWB, ask chn to show various counting patterns by flagging them with a sticky note. Eg: count in 2s, 5s 10s. What is your pattern. Look at numbers before and after.
