Power and refinement

The new XJ offers the choice of three powerful and refined new engines - the most technically advanced Jaguar has ever created. Heading the line-up is the supremely powerful supercharged 5.0 litre V8, available with 510 HP in the XJ Supersport, or 470 HP in the XJ Supercharged. Aluminum body construction

The XJs bodyshell is constructed from aluminum and magnesium using techniques derived from the aerospace industry. Extruded, pressed and cast aluminum components are riveted, epoxy-bonded, and in specific areas, bolted together to form a strong monocoque structure that combines lightness with exceptional rigidity. Aluminum body construction makes the new XJ one of the stiffest vehicles in its class. POWERTRAIN AND DRIVING DYNAMICS Active DifferentiAl control (1) An electronically controlled, active differential with Handling Functionality that limits the slip between the rear wheels to optimize traction and stability in different driving conditions, working in harmony with the Traction, ABS and DSC systems. ADAptive cruise control (Acc) (1) Uses microwave radar technology to monitor for slower moving trafc and can alert you to potential hazards ahead. It also controls both throttle and brakes to help maintain a constant time gap to the vehicle in front. When the road ahead clears, the system automatically accelerates back to the speed at which you were driving. Forward Alert provides an audible warning if it senses that the trafc ahead slows. ADAptive DynAmics Designed to provide the optimum balance between low speed ride comfort and high speed handling precision, analyzing body movement, steering and road wheel inputs up to 100 times a second and continuously adjusting the suspension settings through electronically controlled dampers.

It offers different modes selectable by a button to optimize the vehicle response depending on driving conditions and style. ADvAnceD emergency BrAke Assist (1) An enhancement to the ACC function. Using the ACC radar, the system calculates distance and speed of approach to the vehicle in front and pre-charges the brakes to help minimize impact speed if a collision is predicted. The ACC interacts with the Virtual Instruments to provide the driver with information on driving conditions. cruise control with AutomAtic speeD limiter (Asl) (1) In tandem with cruise control, the Automatic Speed Limiter allows the driver to select a maximum speed that should not be exceeded. DynAmic moDe Optimizes vehicle systems to deliver a more involving driving experience. When selected, Trac DSC is automatically engaged, and engine torque delivery characteristics and gear shift points are modied to further improve responsiveness. When selected while the transmission is in full manual mode, transmission up-shifts are fully controlled by the driver, with no automatic up-shift when the rev limit is reached. Dials and graphic details change in the Virtual Instruments when Dynamic Mode is selected. DynAmic stABility control (Dsc) (1) Intervenes in certain demanding driving situations by applying braking to individual wheels and reducing engine torque.

ExTERIOR fEATuRES ADAptive front lighting (1) Sensors react to the cars speed and steering input, and the system can deect the headlight beams casting light deeper into corners, and giving added condence at night. Intelligent High Beam is designed to automatically switch the headlights between high and low beams, by sensing for oncoming or preceding trafc or street lights, to help driver visibility.
