Industrial Training Certificate Program in State of the Art Lectures and Hands on Training in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Pharma, QC & Bioinformatics

The Training Director, Dr Rai Ajit Srivastava, Ph.D., FAHA, MBA, is a Visiting Prof. at Univ Palermo, Italy & Wayne State Univ, USA. He served as Associate Prof at the Washington Univ School of Medicine, St Louis, and Head of Preclinical Research at Tularik Pharmacy Co & Bristol-Myers Squibb, USA, and Executive V P at Piramal Life Sciences, Mumbai, and currently working as Executive Director, Esperion Therapeutics Inc, USA

From The Training Directors Pen

The field of science has been developing at a rapid pace, and at times it becomes extremely impractical to capture all information that becomes available through research journals and online sources. This course was developed with a view to encompass rapid changes in science. The course materials are, therefore, updated every 6 months to add new information. The course is designed such that it covers most of the advanced laboratory techniques to study and analyze proteins/enzymes, DNA, RNA and apply recombinant DNA technology for specific needs. In addition, this course also consists of some of the most advanced technologies like transgenesis, gene knockout, RNAi, SAGE, microarray, real-time PCR and monoclonal antibody production. On of the aims of this course is to train students in drug discovery and development, not by discussing laboratory data generated in the course-developers labs. This course is unique in terms of providing all information related to biotechnology and drug discovery at one place. Early discovery science to understand how the disease is caused at a molecular level together with clues in both the patients experience of the disease and the compendium of medical knowledge that humans have assembled for centuries compiled with the growing knowledge of human biology and genetics, are discussed. The best possible experimental designs to test ypotheses and yield answers to unanswered questions about how the disease works and how it can be treated also are part of the course materials. Why do we need such a course at this time? The global pharmaceutical market is estimated at US$ 427 billion and R & D cost is estimated at US$ 60-65 billion annually. R & D Industry has opened up new vistas of employment for a large number of people. India has become one of the best destinations for Biotechnology industry due to good network of research laboratories, rich biodiversity, establishment of several state-of-the-art CROs with GLP facilities, well developed base industries, rich agriculture sector and trained manpower that speaks English fluently. While pharmaceutical industries in the USA, and to some extent in the Europe, are going through tough time resulting elimination of thousands of research jobs due to mergers and acquisitions, India has seen strong growth in this sector for the past few years, and job opportunities in R & D sector have increased. In addition, India also offers tax concessions on revenue to companies making R&D investments in India. These incentives are expected to substantially increase R&D activities of both multinational and domestic biopharmaceutical companies. An added advantage is that India's pharmaceutical market is the second largest in Asia, growing by more than 9% annually. We believe that at this time training students in hands-on techniques and providing relevant knowledge to become successful in biotech industries are extremely important. This course contains 22 lectures by world fame scientists of the same field. These lectures describe actual experiments and basic science as well as some laboratory exercises that cover current principles and techniques used in molecular biology and biotechnology. The main objective of the training is to develop critical thinking, design experiments, interpret research data, develop presentation skills, gain hands-on experience on advanced techniques and methodology of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology. All students have access to Institute's computer and Internet facilities, enabling them in data searches. We provide state of the art infrastructural amenities at our center of excellence. It is a perfect environment conducive to effective learning for academic success. A state of the art infrastructure having high speed servers and round the clock internet connectivity is available to students for the purpose of learning. I wish all trainees the best of learning and excelling in their chosen area.
