START COMPOSTING!
Compost is a type of fertilizer that consists of decomposed organic matter. Compost is safe and easy to make as it does not contain harmful chemicals and can be done using household materials and a bit of work. 1. Buy a compost bin 2. Collect dried leaves, grass, vegetable scraps, fruit skin,... and place them in the bin 3. Aerate by adding water 4. Give it some time for decomposition (1 month) 5. Use the compost on your plants for organic farming! For more information you may refer to a video at the following website: www.compostguide.com

ORGANIC FARMING

WHAT IS IT?

Organic Farming: The Benets

Better For You
No Hazardous Chemicals Studies from Americas Environmental Protection Department have shown that some articial chemicals can harm the human bodys nervous system, and some can cause lower fertility. Many of the chemicals are carcinogens which can accumulate in the body and cause cancer. For Organic Farming, natural compost is used as a fertilizer, and several other ways can help for pest control. e.g. biological control That is why Organic Farming is much safer for human consumption!

Better For The Environment

Pollution Free As no harmful substances are used, pollution of any type is reduced to its minimum. Eco-friendly Compost is used as a natural fertilizer. Dead plant matter, p a p e r, and other biodegradable objects with no oil is decomposed. Nutrients from these substances are recycled back to the compost for use. We can use this organic fertilizer for farming instead of the harmful chemicals and also reduce landlls lling up. GM Free According to recent studies, GM crops can cause severe allergy in humans and can possibly affect nature. Corn was genetically modied to produce their own pesticide, BT, a bacteria which can kill insects, rodents ...etc. However, many nontargeted endangered species of insects were also killed in the process. BT toxins also poses a threat to human health, by interacting with intestine e.coli, making allergies severe and can even poison us. GM crops often contaminate non-GM species by cross-pollination. The process of genetical engineering is unfortunately irreversible. Organic Farmers usually do not grow GM crops. Therefore, support organic farming to reduce or stop the spreading and the negative consequences of GM crops. Use of articial fertilizer from 1960s to 2005

Hygienic Many organic farms make sure that their produce is hygienic for eating. In some types of conventional farms, sewage sludge, a biproduct from sewage plants are added to the soil, contaminating crops with chemicals, oils ..., making it unsafe for eating. In Organic Farming, compost is used as a safer soil fertilizer.

Adoption Of GM Crops from 1996 to 2007

The Statistics
Statistics have already shown that the usage of harmful chemicals and the adoption of GM crops in America have increased drastically over the years, and the numbers are still going upwards.
