CROPS: Mango: HOW TO PREPARE EM FERMENTED PLANT EXTRACT (EM FPE)

HOW TO PREPARE EM FERMENTED PLANT EXTRACT (EM FPE) (INSECT REPELLANT) EM FPE is a non-chemical insect repellant and is non toxic. This is being used to prevent disease and pest problems in crop plants. It is usually sprayed onto plants at a dilution of 1/200 -1/1000 in water. It is mainly used to repel insects by creating a sort of barrier. This could also control insect populations. A standard set of ingredients is listed below. However, to make effective preparation for more persistent pests, more organic materials should be added (organic materials that has a high quantum of antioxidants such as garlic, hot peppers, aloe, neem leaf and fruits, pruned green fruits, and grass) which are considered to be of medicinal value. When using such materials, they should be chopped or mashed in a mixer. How to prepare: Ingredients: Water 10 ltrsMolasses 1 ltrVinegar 1 ltrDistilled spirit (30-50 %) (Lambanog) 1 ltrEM•1 1 ltrPlant Materials 10 ltrs or of the 20 liter containerProcedure: - Shred all plant materials and mix well. Put into the container. - In a separate container, the amount of molasses (better if it’s boiled) needed is 1 liter, 1 liter of EM•1 and 1 liter of vinegar and 10 liters of water. Be sure to stir the preparation very well. - Pour (slowly) the mixture in the container with the shredded plant materials. - Add water to the mixture to fill up to the lid of the container, while stirring slowly. - Cover the container with a plastic sheet. Seal very well to avoid entry of air. - After 3-4 days, degas and stir the mixture add 1 liter of distilled spirit (lambanog), stir then seal again. - After 14-15 days, the EM FPE is ready for application. Separate the solids from the extract. Remove further the smaller particles in the liquid extract by filtration, using a fine mesh screen. - Put in plastic containers and store in cool dry place, away from direct sunlight. - Be sure to degas or loosen the cap of the containers whenever the containers become deformed.Note: Be sure to consume this preparation within one month! How to use: - Dilute 1 liter of EM Fermented Plant Extract (EM-FPE) into 200 to 1000 liters of water - Spray evenly into the leaves and trunks - Volume of diluted EM liquid fertilizer shall depend on the size of tree. The estimated volume of the solution per tree is from 25 to 100 liters.Cost of EM FPE EM•1 Php 660.00MolassesPhp 10.00VinegarPhp 20.00Spirit(Alcohol)Php 50.00TOTAL Php 740.00Cost of EM FPE per liter Liter EM-1 can produce 14 liters of EM FPE Php 740.00 / 14 = Php 52.00 Cost of EM FPE per plant Cost per liter /dilution rate x volume of solution per plant Php 52.00 /200 x 25 ltrs = Php 6.50 Schedule of Activities The Table below shows the activities at different stages after spraying flower inducer.
