Teaching innovation

Starting from the Academic Year (A.Y.) 2011/12 two initiatives are introduced:

A.Lake Poli School B.Research Methodology Seminar

A. LAKE POLI SCHOOL The Lake Poli School aims at:


Nearer students to companies and real problems Challenge students and provide further opportunities to best and motivated students Open students and teachers minds, facing hot and unsolved topics

The Lake Poli School develops between October 2011 and March 2012, across three activities: S1 Business Case S2 Cross Boundary Seminars S3 - Final workshop

A. LAKE POLI SCHOOL

S1: BUSINESS CASE


The Business case is a challenging work in which students will work on an idea proposed by a company Students will work in groups of 6-8 people composed by:
Management engineering candidates Science Computing engineering candidates Environmental engineering candidates

The Business Case will be developed as follows:


October 2011: company presentation and discussion October 2011 February 2012: work with interim discussions March 2012: final presentation and award ceremony

Group Supervision:
1 professors 1 PhD student

Final delivery
Report (max 10,000 words) Presentation

S2: CROSS-BOUNDARY SEMINARS


Related to the Business Case there will be 4 seminars on hot issues which are of wide interest to both students and companies:
Creativity and Innovation Sustainability Ethics and Social Responsibility Networks and Complexity

Seminars will be base on interaction and discussion, each seminar will be tailored according to the issue Which is the aim?
Stimulate a cross-disciplinary debate Integration with companies Integration with innovative researches g Challenge ourselves on boundaries UNSOLVED issues

A. LAKE POLI SCHOOL

S3 FINAL WORKSHOP A final workshop will be held in March 2012 The workshop encompasses:
Country Debates with the perspective of students public and private Debates, students, organization Company presentations and workshops Short research seminars Business Cases presentations

The final prize to the best group will be assigned


The jury will be composed by both academics and non academics

B. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY SEMINARS


To support you in the final work, the Como programme has introduced a short cycle of seminars on research methodology: What is a research project What are the possibilities for your final work Whi h methodology you can use Which th d l Seminars are compulsory for students enrolled after September 2010. For you: Voluntary BUT Taken into account For Lake Poli School Selection By professors in assigning thesis When Wh Seminar will be held in September (after the exam sessions) A diploma will be release upon your attendance
