WHAT DOES CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES DO?

Catholic Relief Services invites you to take an hour or so to perhaps bring a different perspective to your summer. Come learn how the Catholic community of the U.S. is working through CRS in solidarity with the most vulnerable people in places like Sarajevo, Srebrenica, and other cities and villages. Tuesday July 19, 2011 7:00 PM St. Andrew Catholic Church Multi-Purpose Room Come and learn about CRS-supported social housing for displaced persons still seeking to get away from "collective centers" and return to their old hometowns and to restore or rebuild a home where they were living before the war. Hear about the work of CRS to foster reconciliation and peace building skills among people from different faiths and ethnicities learning to acknowledge one anothers pain even while seeking to heal their own trauma. Listen to what CRS is doing with our partners to counter the tragedy of human trafficking in Bosnia. Reasons for HOPE Come and hear the stories of the healing of memory and the continuing journey of peace building. Come and learn how you, the American Catholic and others of good will, can walk in solidarity with others. WORD OF LIFE The topic of post abortion syndromethat is, the grave psychological distress experienced by women who have had recourse to voluntary abortionreveals the irrepressible voice of the moral conscience and the most serious wound it suffers every time that human action betrays the innate vocation to the good of the human being, to which it bears witness.
Pope Benedict XVI, Address to Participants in the General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Feb. 26, 2011.

REVITALIZE YOUR MARRIAGE

When couples pour their time and energy into parenting, there can be little left to spend on the couple relationship. But when the children are launched, what once was a childfocused marriage now shifts into a partner-focused marriage. This time of transition is an opportunity to take stock of where you have been, where you want to go and to revitalize the bond you share. In this workshop, couples preparing for or now in the empty nest will focus on key issues that have helped other couples make this transition well. Using this knowledge, they can reconnect as a couple, strengthen their bond and start developing a shared vision for the second half of marriage. The Revitalizing Your Marriage in the Empty Nest: Room to Reconnect mini-workshop will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Sunday, July 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $30. Registration is required by July 19. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. For more information or to register for the Revitalizing Your Marriage in the Empty Nest: Room to Reconnect workshop, please contact Linda Sweeney, L.C.S.W. at 678-235-3912 or Lsweeney@graceandgrowth.org.

This is a forum for men of our parish to develop supportive relationships, deepen their faith, and enjoy themselves. The Mens Fellowship meets every Friday; feel free to join us when you can.
