LifeinBloomington The campus is located in the southern part of Indiana and is about an hour drive from Indianapolisanda4hourdrivetoChicago.Btownispredominantlyacollegetown,lotsof parties,funandgoodtimes.Socialactivitiesareabundant,mostMBA'smeetfordrinksafew timesaweek.Thetownhasavarietyofbars,clubsandover160kindsofbeer.Mostplaces are located downtown around Kirkwood and the court house. My favorite places to hang were:TheCrazyHorse,Nick's,K@K,SportsandYogi's.Don'tmissoutontailgatingwhichisa pregameoutdoorpartybeforehomeFootballgames. IfyouliketoworkouttherearetwohugeathleticcentersoncampuswhichincludeGyms, basketballcourts,racquetballcourts,heatedOlympicpool,indoorrunningcourse,asoccer fieldandmore.Mostactivitiesarefreeofcharge. ThemostfamousschooloncampusistheJacobsschoolofmusic.Musiciansfromallover theworldcometoBloomingtonanditisconsideredoneofthebestintheworld.Youcan listen to concerts and watch theatre production and Opera. Student rate tickets are available. ThereareafewMBAclubstojoindependingonyourfieldofinterest.AlsothereisaJewish MBAclubwhichiscelebratingtheJewishholidays.Inadditionif youarealittlehomesick thereisalsoaHillelhousewhichhostsShabbatdinners. Transportation There are two shuttle services from the airport called "Bloomington shuttle" and "Star of America"checkouttheavailabilitypriortobookingyourflight. Bloomington(likemostoftheMidwest)isverymuchstretched.Thetownismadeforcars ratherthanpeople.PublictransportationisFREEandsomeroutesworkevenonweekends toalatehour(3am).taxiesareaffordable(about7$aride).Ifyouliveoncampusorinthe downtownareasyoucangetplacesbywalkingortakingaquickbusride. Housing OnCampus There are a few dorm and apartment complexes on campus. Residence halls are fully furnishedandrequireamealplan.Therentisabout$600$800amonthandthemealplan anadditional1,700$.TherecommendedonesaretheWilkieandtherenovatedEigenman. Builtin2010theunionstreetapartmentcomplexisanotheroption.Itcostsabout$1000a monthandcomesfurnished.Amealplanisnotrequiredinaptcomplexes.Thereareafew more apt complexes on campus that cost around $600$800 a room but you need to get yourownfurniture. OffCampus Off campus housing is tricky and troublesome but can save you a lot of money. Because most places require a one year lease, Most of the exchange students prefer to live on campus.IfyouarecomingtoBloomingtonto thespringsemesteryoushould easilyfind a subleaseforjustthesemester.Onthefallsemesterit'sharder(butnotimpossible). Ifyouchoosetostayoffcampusdowntownistheplacetobe.Anotherpopularareaiseast sideofcampuswhereyoucanfindWoodbridgeandFountainParkapartmentcomplexes. Offcampushousingcostsabout$400$700amonth+utilities.MostMBAstudentsliveoff campus(andownacar).WhenchoosingaplacetostayinBloomingtonpayattentiontothe distance from the Kelley school and the availability of public transportation. It gets extremely cold and snowy in the winter and it is hard to get around without convenient transportation.

Downtowntherearealotnicerestaurantsandyoucaneatprettymuchanything.Thereis alsoaFalafelplaceonKirkwoodbeneaththeupstairspub. Thereareafewlargesupermarketson3rdSt.(Marsh,Kroger's).Busesgotherebutifyoucan get a ride from a friend it is much more convenient. Groceries cost as much as they do in Israelwiththeexceptionoffruitsandvegetableswhichcosttwiceasmuch. Shopping Thereisamallintownwhereyoucanfindaboutanythingyouwant.Alsothereareafew smalloutletstoresonthewestsideoftown.Ifyouarelookingforrealbargainscheckout the Edinburgh outlet which is about 40 minute drive out of town and has all the famous brands. OutofTown Monroe Lake Quite big in Israeli standards and only 15 minutes away. If it's warm enoughtakeaboatride,docampingorrowaCanoe. Indianapolis is a nice Midwestern city which is also the home of the Indiana Pacers (NBA)andtheIndianapolisColts(NFL).Alsodon'tforgetthereistheIndy500race. Chicagoisabout4hoursnorthofBloomingtonandaplaceyoushoulddefinitelyvisit.In anutshellit'saminiNYC. Kentucky If you're into horses there is the Kentucky derby, also check out bourbon tastingtoursinLouisville(2hoursaway). NashvilleTennesseeagreatplacetolistentocountrymusic(4hoursaway).Ifyouare alreadyvisitingthesouthyoucanalsovisitMemphiswithitsfamousBealeSt.andsayHi toElvisinGraceland. St. Louis Missouri is about 4 hours east, visit the arch and listen to blues music on Broadway.
