The stress applied to the cover material determines how heavy that material must be and the pressure under which the air must be retained. The Formula for stress in the surface is;
Stress in lbs/ft = pressure in lbs/ft2 x Radius of the Arc of the Sphere (cover) in ft 200 ft wide structure will be ~70 ft. high with a Radius of ~106.4 ft. Assume a pressure of 7.5 lbs per sq. ft. x 106.4 ft. = stress on the cover of 798 lbs/ft.
Typical Air Supported Structure with Air Pressure Retained by the Cover
To withstand such pressure, heavy, composite material, usually reinforced with webbing of some type of polymer is used. The maximum possible spans are ~ 400 ft. because of the added stress on the cover and cables. A small fraction of natural light is let into the structure, requiring supplemental lighting for most of the day as well as night. The pressure of air inside the building is relatively high and can not be easily or affordably exchanged or freshened. Lack of ventilation allows mold and mildew to grow, stale air to accumulate. Plants will not survive in such an environment, nor do livestock or people!
Stress in lbs/ft = pressure in lbs/ft2 x Radius of the Arc of the Sphere (cover) in ft A galvanized steel cable is placed at 4 ft. intervals the length of the structure. It is secured to and within the seams in the fabric cover. Between these cables is place 50 instead of 48 of material. When the structure is inflated, this excess material forms a mini-arc 4 ft. long x .5 ft. high with a radius of 4 ft. Assuming the same pressure in the previous example of 7.5 lbs/ft 2 , the calculated stress on the fabric is now 7.5 lbs x the radius of the mini arc of 4 ft. or 30 lbs./ft. Almost all the load is transferred to the cables, allowing for the use of much thinner fabric in the cover. As much as 90% of natural light is allowed into the interior. Operating pressure is much reduced so High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) fans can be used to move air instead of Low Volume High Pressure blowers. This allows for fast and frequent air exchanges.
Plants, Livestock and People thrive in a healthy, weather proof environment The stress on the cover does not change regardless of the width of the building. Extra load can be picked up by using larger or closer spaced steel cables.

Flexible Configurations
The one piece cover includes the cables, sealed out of sight into the fabric.
3. The one-piece cover is spread out and attached to the anchors 4. The power is turned on and within 5 minutes the building is fully functional This 12,000 sq. ft. temporary building was deployed in 2 days, then disassembled by six people, with a total of six tools, and packed into a 38 trailer in less than 10 hours.
The One-Piece cover is deployed or replaced without disturbing any activity below.
Allows periodic upgrade and replacement of cover materials at a fraction the cost of new building.
The crane happened to be on site and is not necessary to deploy or replace covers.
