INSTALLING THE KNOCK SENSOR

The Knock Sensor is designed to be threaded into a hole in the engine block with NPT. Many engines have drilled and tapped holes available, or you may have to remove a drain plug to install the Sensor. An Adapter is also supplied for more installation options.

WIRING
The wires connect as follows: Red - Connects to a switched 12 volt source. Black - Connects to Ground. White - Connects to the Knock Sensor. Route the wires away from moving components and hot engine parts such as the exhaust manifolds. The White wire should be routed through a grommet in the firewall. A 3/8 snap bushing is supplied to run the wire through the firewall if you need to drill a hole.

OPERATION
The EKA features a sensitivity adjustment so the Sensor can be adjusted to your engines characteristics. To obtain a good starting point, follow the proceeding steps. 1. With the vehicle parked on a flat surface and the parking brake applied, start the engine. 2. When the engine is warm, bring the rpm level to approximately 2,500 rpm. 3. Turn the Sensitivity Control Dial until the first green LED lights. This gives you a good starting point. Note: On applications where very light knocking is present, the Green light may not come on. If this occurs, turn the Sensitivity dial to the maximum setting. The Audible Alert has a volume control to adjust the level to a comfortable beep. The Beep can also be turned completely off. It will not Beep until the knock is to the level of the Green to Yellow LEDs.
