Faith Honors GodGod Honors Faith

The African impala is a fascinating animal. It is a medium sized antelope found in the savannas of Tanzania, Kenya, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, Uganda, and southern Angola. Scientists estimate the number of impalas in Africa reach numbers close to two million in population. The impala is known for it's quick speeds and ability to jump large obstacles. It is generally accepted that impala's can jump heights upwards of ten feet and can cover a distance of thirty feet in a single bound. Yet if you visit many zoos around the world, impalas are kept on display in sometimes as small as three foot walls. What causes the animal who can leap the heights of the African plains to stay encaged in a city zoo? The impala will not leap if it cannot see where its feet will land. For this reason, zookeepers are able to keep the animals in relatively small enclosures. Christians are a lot like the African impala. We have the ability to achieve great things, yet a lack of faith often leaves us confined in what we can do. God's given us His strength, His provision, and His power, yet we are sometimes so weak in our faith that we don't take advantage of His abilities. Ha vi n g gre at fai t h r equ i re s a dependence on God's strength. Realize that anything God asks you to do, He also provides the strength to get it done. God never asks you to accomplish something that He will not accomplish through you. Historically, Christians who have been noted for their great faith were not extraordinarily gifted with faith from God. They were simple human beings, like you and I, who believed that God was Lord and whatever God required, He would accomplish.

Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.

We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23). We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9). Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour (Romans 5:8; John 3:16). Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as Gods children (Romans 10:9, 13).
