2010 - 2011 Ministry Plan Summary

First Baptist Church of Keller

A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR:

Dear FBC Keller Family, On July 1, our church will officially begin the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Enclosed you will find a detailed description of the proposed ministry plan. This document is the fruit of the combined efforts of many people, including the Ministry Plan Committee, Missions Committee, Personnel Committee, and the church staff. I want to congratulate all of those who participated in the process for their hard work. The 2010-2011 Ministry Plan calls for a weekly contribution of $72,463 for a total of $3,768,055. This total was arrived at through much prayer and is a reachable goal reflecting our ongoing needs and the historic giving patterns of the church. This plan represents a reduction of about 11% from last years plan. Along with most churches and non-profit organizations, FBC Keller began to experience a decrease in contributions last calendar year. Given the economic conditions, the staff and Finance Committee were proactive in reducing spending. This action has enabled the church to remain at a very healthy cash flow level while maintaining our reserves. Our commitment was to maintain our staffing levels while ensuring the high level of ministry that all of us are accustomed to. Those goals were accomplished, and we look forward to another wonderful year. However, wise stewardship calls for us to reflect that reduction in spending in our new ministry plan. Please read this document carefully and prayerfully. Ask God to direct you and your family as to what your part will be in fulfilling the ministry plan. If you have any questions about this proposal, please direct them to the church office. Additionally, there will be a question and answer session May 2 in room 135 at 4:30 pm. The church wide vote on the proposed ministry plan will be May 12 during the regularly scheduled business conference. Blessings,

Bro. Keith

PERSONNEL
Our staff is our most important and most valuable resource. It is our staff that makes our ministry personal. Their time, energy, and abilities are part of what accomplishes our mission. Our ministry personnel and the entire staff work to make First Baptist Church of Keller a caring community where each person is able to feel the love of God being shared with one another.

PROPERTY & SUPPORT

Although our building is made of ordinary brick and mortar, it serves as a visible reminder of Gods presence in our community. The church building provides the same kind of security and feeling of home to a congregation that the home provides to a family. Church buildings provide a place for family life to thrive and the bonds of friendships to grow. Clean, well-designed, and well-maintained facilities glorifiy God.

Belonging Helps Us Fulfill Our Missions

Blessing in Belonging: Helping Others Find Christ

Through your gifts to our church, you are able to help people find the greatest blessing they could ever imagine: the blessing of becoming a child of God and belonging in His family forever! Our MISSIONS and EVANGELISM ministry provides every one of our members with the opportunity to find his or her place in fulfilling Christs Great Commission (see Acts 1:8). We have places of ministry in our local community (our Jerusalem), our region (our Judea), our state and nation (our Samaria), and to the very Ends of the Earth! One of the ways that we are able to touch our Jerusalem is through our Kids Beach Club ministry. This is an evangelistic after-school program that meets on the campus of Woodland Springs Elementary School. Volunteers from FBC Keller share Gods Word with about 20 children each Tuesday afternoon, and in the past we have seen dozens of children profess their faith in Christ through this ministry! We are able to touch our Judea by partnering with mission churches and other local ministries to reach the neglected sections of our community. We have gotten involved with several new Nepali house churches in Tarrant County, and we are also partnering with NorthGate Church in Haslet to reach that growing community. We have partnered with a Hispanic congregation in Keller for several years, are we are planning to sponsor a new Korean church plant soon. We also work with ministries like Real Choices Pregnancy Medical Clinic in Grapevine (reaching women and families in crisis pregnancies with a message of life and hope in Christ), Beautiful Feet Ministries (bring the life-changing gospel message to homeless people near downtown Fort Worth), Auto Mission (reaching troubled teens through mentoring, discipleship, and life skills training), and other regional ministries. We reach our Samaria by helping our church plant (the Blue Mountain BapA new Nepali congregation worship tist Church) in Baker City, Oregon to reach that community. in a small apartment in south Fort Worth. We also partner with churches in Montana to reach lost people there, and we send out teams at least six times each year to minister to orphans and to build houses for very poor families in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. We send out teams throughout the year to the Ends of the Earth. This past year your giving helped one team construct a midwifes clinic in Guatemala. They completed it just in time for the first baby to be delivered there while they wrapped up the construction! Our work among the Yalunka people of Mali, West Africa has continued to grow over the past year. Now there are two strong church groups with nearly 100 believers in all, and churches are developing in several other villages. Kathy Sibley holds an orphaned baby in We partner with about 45,000 Southern Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Baptist churches through the Cooperative Program (3.5% of our total church budget) to send missionaries within the U.S.A. and throughout the world and to train church leaders through six seminaries.

All of these outreach ministries help people find the BLESSING of BELONGING to Christs family. It is exciting to see so many members of FBCK serving on mission with God!

MUSIC MINISTRIES
The Worship and Creative Arts Ministry has some exciting things planned for the coming year. Our adult music ministries continue to faithfully lead us in worship each week and present special programs at Christmas, Easter Week, and other special events. The various ensembles in our instrumental music ministry play in worship services and frequently minister at local assisted care centers. Our Worship Arts for Kids program provides opportunities for children ages preschool sixth grade to learn various musical and artistic skills, including singing, drama, and handbells. One of the most vibrant ministries in our area is the Student Music Ministry and its eight student ensembles who lead in worship and regularly travel extensively throughout the southern United States on summer tours. The handbell ministry of our church has flourished in the past few years, and we now have over eight handbell groups where our members faithfully exercise their musical giftedness. The faithful giving of our church membership allows us to equip our children, students, and adults to use their spiritual gifts in our church and lead the congregation in the worship of God each week. Senior Adult Ministries are designed around the theme from Ezekiel 22:30 where God is looking for people to stand in the GAP. Our ministry is designed to be Gods Active People called to stand in the GAP. FAMILY MINISTRIES
By belonging to the body of Christ, families are blessed by worshipping within an authentic Christian community. That community of believers helps strengthen the family by providing age appropriate ministries such as Bible Study and Discipleship ministries. On the other hand, the church is blessed by wholesome and healthy families. In fact, the church is built by God-honoring families who glorify Christ at home. The purpose of the Family Ministry is reflected in the Family Ministry Plan for 2010-2011. The mission of the Family Ministry is to glorify God and love people by providing biblical teaching, effective training, and practical tools for a God-honoring family life. The mission is revealed in seven specific objectives. Bible Study/Seminars: Teach families by delivering biblical teaching that shapes the mind and heart primarily through classes and seminars. Mainly utilized on Wednesday nights when discipleship courses are offered. Workshops/Camps/Retreats: Equip families by providing effective training designed to affect Christian thinking and behavior through workshops, retreats, and camps. These are offered primarily on days other than Wednesday nights. Counseling/Coaching: Strengthen families by giving ongoing support to class/seminar participants and families in crisis through counseling and life coaching. Counseling and coaching are available through a face-to-face formal (or traditional) format as well as teleconferencing and webinars. *Family Field Day (Service Projects/Missions): Reach new and unchurched families through various community service projects and similar mission opportunities (for example, Family Field Day). *Family Life Conference (Ministry Special Events): Inspire and ignite FBC families and guests to honor God at home, work, and in community life through outstanding ministry of music, family speakers, and breakout trainers. *Leader Development (Leader Development-Staff/Volunteer): Grow the core of trained Family Ministry Leadership, both professional and volunteer, through ongoing leadership training. New! Family Ministry Tools: Provide families with a library of resources to enhance family life through books, DVDs, pamphlets, brochures, and other related media. We are very blessed by belonging. We are blessed by belonging to the family of God, and we are blessed by belonging to Christian families. We pray that God will be blessed by our heart to glorify Christ and honor His church through Family Ministry.

Belonging to the Family is a Blessing

This booklet describes many of the things that happen at FBC Keller. They are made possible by the generous giving and faithful sharing of the family of faith. Giving is not about funding a budget or supporting a particular ministry. It is a part of our faith, a means of worshiping and praising our God who gave so much for us. We understand that our resources are not infinite and that we are stewards of all that God has given us. We offer this information to you so that you can celebrate what God is doing in and through First Baptist Church in Keller, Texas. As we move forward in ministry this year, we ask that you continue to support Gods work here through your prayers, presence, gifts, and service. If you have any questions or comments about the information in this brochure, please contact the church office.
