FACULTY OF GEOINFORMATION SCIENCE & ENGINEERING Faculty of Geoinformation Science and Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), commonly

known as Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan Sains Geoinformasi (FKSG), is the pioneer in Geomatics Engineering and Real Estate education of the country. FKSG has, since 1978, successfully conducted professional courses in the field of Geomatics Engineering (Surveying) and Real Estate. In keeping abreast with the advanced technologies and fulfillment of clients needs, FKSG has also conducted GIS, Remote Sensing and Land Administration & Development courses for more than a decade since the late 1990s. At present a number of Phd. and Masters postgraduate programmes in Geomatics Engineering, Real Estate, Asset and Facilities Management, Land Administration & Development, GIS and Remote Sensing are being conducted by either research or taught courses. The undergraduates and postgraduates of FKSG are currently numbered at 1,200 and 300 students respectively served by a strong team of 90 academic staff. Focusing on geo-technology and spatial information, the most sought after commodity in most real world applications, we envisioned to introduce a number of specialization in Geomatics Engineering such that we can produce professional surveyors specializing in Hydrography & Off-shore Surveying, GIS, Remote Sensing and Land Administration. A number of specializations in Real Estate in order to produce Property Valuers specializing in Property Business, Asset & Facilities Management and Property Planning & Development. In line with our vision, our R&D are now directed towards algorithm, systems, software and hardware development, the development of measuring instrumentation and the development efficient management practices and system. Both the public and private sectors contribute funds to most of our R&D activities. As part of our social obligation, we provide professional advices and services to society and industry in areas relating to Geomatics Engineering and Real Estate.
