Com Ahlus Sunnah & The Murjiah Regarding The Maj0r Kufr Of The One Who Believes In Kufr, Desires Kufr, Desires To Leave Islam, Desires To Commit Kufr Through His Action & Believes In A Statement Of Kufr He Uttered By Abdul Kareem Ibn Ozzie

This article has been written in order to refute the Murjiah creed and because Ahlus Sunnah of today (the salafis) are accused by some groups of Muslims as being the Neo Murjiah (the Murjiah of this era). Therefore this article should inshallah help to provide evidence that Ahlus Sunnah of today are free from the Murjiah creed and opposed to it inshallah. The Murjiah (or those that follow their aqeedah in this issue) claim major kufr can only occur if a Muslim believes in kufr, desires kufr, desires to leave Islam, desires to commit kufr through his action, believes in a statement of kufr he uttered istihlaal of action or statement and istihlaal of belief in the heart (i.e. to declare an action or a statement to be lawful (halaal) as a matter of belief in the heart) though it is haraam in the shariah thakdhib (Falsification) disbelieving with the tongue and heart together and juhood (Denial) which is disbelieving by the tongue but not with the heart (i.e. a person knows Islam is the truth so he therefore he believes in Islam as the true and only religion to follow in his heart however whenever he moves his tongue (speaks) about Islam he claims it is a false man made religion which should not be followed. So he believes in his heart but disbelieves by his tongue (i.e. his speech)) (Often many scholars, students of knowledge and daaeeis (not all) refer to juhood and thakdhib as juhood only, but by this they mean disbelieving with the tongue and heart together and not disbelieving by the tongue but not with the heart as I have stated above)

In this article the Murjiah belief of major kufr only through a Muslim believing in kufr, desiring kufr, desiring to leave Islam, desiring to commit kufr through his action, Or believing in the statement of kufr he uttered will be looked in to. This Murjiah belief is incorrect and is not held by Ahlus Sunnah of the past or present, the reason this belief is incorrect because major kufr can occur if a Muslim believes in kufr or desires kufr, desires to leave Islam, desires to commit kufr through his action or believes in the statement of kufr he uttered, however it major kufr can also occur with out any of the above. Ahlus Sunnah hold if major kufr can only occur in the way the Murjiah have claimed above this belief necessitates that the one who does an action of major kufr if he did not believe in kufr or desire kufr, desire to leave Islam, desires to commit kufr through his action or does not believe in the statement of kufr he uttered (if he uttered one) does not become a kaafir and this incorrect. Because when a Muslim does an action willingly (from his own free choice (i.e. was not forced)) and knowingly (i.e. desiring and intend to perform this action purposefully) which is an action of major kufr in and of itself this necessitates takfir (to declare a Muslim a kaafir) of the individual involved based on the conditions of takfir and looking into the barriers to takfir. Ibn Hajr said in Fath ul-Baree (12/373): Amongst the Muslims are those who exit the religion without desiring (qasd) to leave the religion and without choosing a religion other than that of Islaam. Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah in as-Saarim al-Maslool (p.178) said: And in essence, whoever says or commits that which is

disbelief, kufr, disbelieves on account of it, even if he did not desire (lam yaqsud) to become a disbeliever (by the act) Based on the above it is clear on this issue that Ahlus Sunnah and the Murjiah differ greatly. Inshallah below I will give three examples one of Iblis and his kufr, some who mocks the religion and a Muslim who makes duaa to the dead and hopefully these examples should make apparent how incorrect the Murjiah view is. In the Murjiahs corrupted understanding Iblis (shaytan) when he did not prostrate to Prophet Adam willingly (from his own free choice (i.e. was not forced)) and knowingly (i.e. desiring and intend to perform this action purposefully) like Allah had commanded him. But as he Iblis did not do it out of belief in kufr or desire for kufr, the desire to leave Islam or desire to commit kufr through his action according to their misguided understanding he Iblis would be a believer with complete iman, because he disobeyed Allahs command which was obligatory upon him only because he refused and became arrogant. Whereas Ahlus Sunnah state that Iblis (shaytan) when he did not prostrate to Prophet Adam willingly (from his own free choice (i.e. was not forced)) and knowingly (i.e. desiring and intend to perform this action purposefully) like Allah had commanded him he committed an action of major kufr. He committed the kufr of Inadh, Iba wa Istikbar (Obstinacy, Refusal and Pride) (which is absence of submission to the truth out of hatred, rejection and pride while believing with the heart and attesting to it with the tongue). However even though he committed an action of major kufr because this action was kufr in and of its self, he did not believe in kufr, desire kufr, the desire to leave Islam or desire to commit kufr through his action. So from the above example of Iblis it is clear that Ahlus Sunnah do believe that major kufr can happen with or without believing in

kufr, desiring kufr, desiring to leave Islam, desiring to commit kufr through an action or believing in a statement of kufr uttered. However if a person does an action of major kufr this person becomes a kaafir but only if he does it willingly (from his own free choice (i.e. was not forced)) and knowingly (i.e. desiring and intend to perform this action purposefully), the preventive factors of takfir have been looked into by a scholar of Ahlus Sunnah and the have a consensus (ijmah) on this persons kufr. If know of the above are fulfilled then person remains a Muslim.
