be able to overcome that?

Perhaps in such a case, I might get closer to
revealing the secret of the sense of joy and
pleasure Eric creates wherever he goes when
he takes shots. This might happen as soon
as he longs for Yemen and comes back one
day.
He humbly says with much of the simplicity
that we are familiar with, and love very
much:
I see Yemen as a very welcoming country,
far from the image that might be promoted
erroneously through media. As I have been
to Yemen when I was a kid, I was 9, I met
people with strong traditions, all with big
guns, but smiling and taking care of me
when visiting the villages!
Since then, I have visited Yemen Five or
Six times to see the diversity of the country:
Paradise Islands, Deserts, Architecture,
UNESCO towns ... I think Yemen has the
best preserved culture in the Arabic world,
and it has to maintain it in the future. In my
world, Yemens presence is very strong,
even my wife has fallen in love with this
country too. She has been there 16 times!
So we share the same passion! We just need
to go to Soqotra and discover it. Its the last
place where we havent been!
In front Of The Camera, Not Behind It:
Finally, I am well condent by now that
the camera and the equipment are not what
produce those wonderful albums that we
browse on the website:
http://www.ickr.com/photos/mytripsmypics
Its only the artist who creates such beauty.
I also became convinced that Eric Lafforgue
does not stand behind the camera, but in
front of it. I can not imagine him as any
other photographer hiding behind the
camera, looking through the lens towards the
world, but I nd him on the opposite side,
standing in front of the camera, stretching
his hand to the world in a friendly invitation
to enter through a new lens to the world of
marvelous photography. It is the world of
Eric Lafforgue.
Speaking about him never ends easily,
despite his usual extraordinary simplicity.
Thats why I cant introduce him quickly
in this limited space. It is better to leave
his camera speak and let the picture reect
what it has in the epic of exceptional
photography.
What a difference here between taking
pictures for the world for the sake of
happiness and photographing the world in a
creative work beyond the borders of cultures,
ethnic and language barriers. I cannot nd a
counterpart for this artist except in the world
of music of Yanni made for one world and

work is without doubt the best Ive seen

on Flickr by a long way and it inspires me
- thank you

If one day you need to see how the world
is, how people can be different and similar
at the same time, how life ows all around
this Planet and specially, if one day you
need to spend hours watching and enjoying
the Best Photography, then this is the place
for that, Erics Photography is as full of life
as the real world is, strongly recommended
for every Photography and Humans lovers.
Thanks for sharing this with us, thanks for
teaching us how a great Photographer must
be.
Fotonstudio
Erics photostream is a must, here on
Flickr .... he has the ability to capture the
very essence of people and their culture
in a way that no one else does ... after
viewing his stream (his North Korea set,
for example) you have seen not only what
the country looks like, but much more
importantly, come to understand something
of the life and hopes of the individuals he
photographs.
A combination of greal skill, a wonderful
eye and the ability to capture the perfect
moment makes Erics photostream my
favorite place to spend a Sunday afternoon..

the whole world, a world of love and what

humanity can share through audio pleasure.
Erics world is also opening up a world of
cultural and visual comfort.
There is no room for lifeless things.
Everything has a spirit, even the old
buildings and narrow neighborhoods.
Everything reects its inside even the solid
rocks, and that is what Eric is searching for
as an exceptional artist, and there he builds a
unique, real, inspiring world which is full of
fascinating delight and surprise.
An Extra Ordinary Photographer
From His Testimonials:
Sometimes words arent enough. Your

VinaPix
I have been associated with photography
since 1965, as a learner, as a photographer,
as a teacher and as a Semi-professional.
I have participated in camera clubs and
various competitions and have seen many
photographs that could equal Erics
images but I have rarely seen the work of a
photographer that is so consistently great as
the work of Eric Lafforgue.
The images he has made of various countries
and the people of those countries show
tremendous quality and cause me to be in
awe.
Flickr is well represented by this
photographer.
Rbracy1943
Erics photography is what I would like my
photography to be one day. He is nothing
but inspiration threw his lens. He shows us
the beauty that life has to offer threw the
colors and many faces of the world.
Eric I tip my hat to you. Your photography
is amazing and inspiring to the world of
photographers.

mans face anywhere else, and whether its

a place or a face, they are all living and
communicating in his world of photography.
But here too, we approach the most difcult
question again, what does this creative
photographer do to us?
That is what he does to those in Yemen. It
is not easy to portray people here, there are
customs and traditions that apply and the
least among these is the misunderstanding
that could arise. That misunderstanding
led a woman to strike my hand with a stick
while I was taking a picture of a female
shepherd at
el Dhabab district of Taiz. That shepherd
was an old woman aged 60 years at least.
Yet, a creative photographer could overcome
such barriers because what he does with
his camera is more than merely recording a
moment or using light and color.
A Self-taught photographer
Eric also reveals that he never got any
professional advice and that he decided to
take photos the way he thought appropriate
and publish and send them to editors and
magazines when he started his track a couple
of years ago.
Its not amazing to know that the advice he
offers to other photographers is: Do what

22

you like, as photography, if you want to

become a pro, requires a lot of work: legend,
tags, keywords, stories etc Its a full time
job: so do what you like to enjoy.
You can spend a great lot of time browsing
through the Award Winning Artist, Eric
Lafforgue>s online photo galleries. The
photos that always boast rich travelling
experience and deep knowledge of the
cultures of the places where he took them.
Eric believes that travelling provides great
opportunities for the traveler to see things in
a very different way. To experience things
differently. He thinks that reality is very
much different from what you see through
television screens and what you hear through
media. The best way to reveal the truth is
to see through your eyes and communicate
your vision through photography in the way
he does.
He goes hunting for his ideas, searching
for what he thinks would be interesting to
people. He says that the chance he had to
travel and live abroad with his parents at his
childhood contributes to the way he looks to
the world.
Through his photographs you realize how
much we humans are very different from
one another and at the same time, you feel

that we are so much similar. That is just

some of the astonishing characters of his
luminous works.
Transforming The World Into A Studio
A real magician is capable of stirring a sense
of amusement and joy that is reected on the
faces of people, while its quite difcult to
nd that kind of joy in pictures coming out
of camera-equipped studios. Here is another
reason to show admiration for what Eric
achieved in such a short period. He made the
vast open world a studio of his own where
he could make portraits as he may wish,
isnt that another form of magic?
In such a setting, the artists world is truly
one of a free creation coming from intuition
directly. Thus, the Art of Photography
does not lie in the equipment. It lies in the
photographers eye of the mind. Its an
approach to personal expression and the
capability of communicating ideas. That
is to express the artists perceptions and
emotions and to share them with others.
A new breed of photography
I have always wondered how I would look
through Erics camera, because I never
remember smiling for a camera. Would Eric

anything related to technical terminology,

style and/or philosophical concepts,
color, etc. .. not because any of that isnt
important, but because Eric is simply not
familiar with them either. I dont believe
that creative artists -since creativity and
artistry were introduced- had ever known
them. The real artist is always one or two
steps ahead of the critics.
The Incredible Achievement:
Taking The Lead In Such A Short Period
All notable photographers that I have came
across had anything between ten and fty
years of a career in the art of photography.
I never heard about any great photographer
that wasnt a professional for ten years at
least. Yet, today, I can condently take a
risk in stating a new fact in Al-Yemenia
Magazine, which is the rst printed Arab
Airline magazine, conrming that Eric
Lafourgh has become one of the worlds
top travel photographers within just four
years of extraordinary creativity in the art of
photography.
Eric Lafforgue was born in 1964 and lives in
Toulouse, France.
Ever since he was young, he has been
fascinated by far away countries and
travelling, and spent some time in Africa,
unknowingly retracing Monfried and Joseph
Kessels footsteps when he was 10 years old
in Djibouti, Ethiopia and Yemen.
Following a trip to Papua New Guinea,
Kubik took notice of his work and published
a book containing his photos. Soon after,
magazines from all over the world began
using his work for illustrations on North
Korea, the tribes of Ethiopia, etc.
Eric Lafforgue spends most of his time
travelling and sharing his encounters on the
web. He is passionate about the places he
visits and is particularly interested in regions
or populations in danger, and the road lesstravelled.
His work has been published in Time
Magazine, National Geographic, The New
York Times, CNN Traveller, BBC, Sunday
Times, Lonely Planet, GEO, International
Herald Tribune, Corriere Della Sera, Le
Monde, The Times, La Stampa, India
Today, and Afar.
What are you looking for, by traveling with
your cameras around the world?
Eric: I just try to show the beauty of the
world and the characters of the people.
Some photographers tend to show poverty or
pain, I have chosen to show the other side!
Photos taken by Eric for Yemen are not
the nest in his album but those taken
in Guinea, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Libya,

Eritrea and some other countries are really

breathtaking as described by admirers.
However, the pictures of Yemen reveal
his trend in the art of photography and the
simplicity which happens to be one of the
secrets behind the brilliance of his works.
The Talent Of Creating Joy And Pleasure
Another remarkable characteristic of Erics
talent could be explained through his photo
for a girl with a veil who is supposed to
avoid the camera lens. Yet, amazingly,
the snapshot reects a visible smile with
genuine pleasure behind that veil and a
sparkle of glamour in her eyes.
This ability to create pleasure is yet another
exclusive secret of this exceptional and
wonderful photographer who was repeatedly
asked about it.
I myself asked him a similar question,
How do you succeed to make all those
people around the world look so happy in

front of your camera?

Eric: I rst try to have some time with
them. Its not always easy, as I do not speak
many languages, but I think it is extremely
inappropriate to go, shoot, and leave! I
usually give a lot of Polaroids too, people
are always happy to have a picture!
Well thats truly a straight and simple
creative innovation with no complications in
a world full of theories that only bring more
complications and chaos.
This fabulous photographer is also a
poet too, composing poems with passion
through faces by his camera. That is
another exclusive feature that makes him
distinguished in his ability to communicate
the message through photos very effectively;
such as revealing the sorrow of a deserted
mud building standing anywhere in
the world until Eric comes to get it out
of its isolation and stillness or even
communicating the expressions on an old

21

Eric: Well, I took pictures in Papua New

Guinea in a style that was new and many
magazines such as Geo, Nat Geo, etc loved
them, so they took them!
I cover destinations which are not well
covered by tourists and travelers such as
Eritrea, Libya, Vanuatu, Danakil, etc, which
gave me a much better advantage with
Magazines than if I was covering places
like Paris, London or New York! Finally,
I kept using in much of my works a Raw
Format, which offers the opportunity to
digitally develop the pictures, giving much
more of the real colors and atmosphere in
print outs. I think that this is very important,

20

as much of the photographers tried to keep

using lms until recently, while using lms
doesnt offer the same range of capabilities
and possibilities.
Certainly , the answer was not sufcient,
at least to me. I am not much into technical
issues. Although, I am convinced that
todays technologies are making part
of the difference, especially in terms of
quality. Yet, I am much more interested in
knowing the role of the photographer in
creating fabulous pictures. An everlasting
question that has been repeatedly discussed
and analyzed since the rst beginnings
including paintings on the walls of caves,

sculptures, photography of water/oil, leading

to modern photography and what is known
today as ne arts photography.
The role of the photographer
Its the role that Eric performed perfectly,
which ended by publishing his pictures
on Flickr website and succeeded to attract
hundreds of thousands of users if not
millions. Those pictures that offered a
source of inspiration for many because they
represented an exceptional event in the
community of digital photography. I will
not be involved in any kind of criticism as
I am not up to that, and I will not discuss

Five years ago, no one really knew Eric
Lafforgue in the world of photography.
He started taking photographs in 2006 as a
traveler and published his pictures on the
internet. But his success has been startlingly
rapid. Soon after rst posting his pictures
on the website Flickr he began to get
professional commissions, and within just a
few years he has come to be regarded as one
of the worlds best travel photographers.
Yahoos Flickr Stunned
Even the advent of todays fast moving,
ever-changing digital world of quick Web
access, smart phones and tablet devices,
is not quite well enough to explain the
achievements of Eric in the world of

photography. He published the pictures he

took as a traveler of places and faces on a
website that has tens of millions of images
and tens of thousands of photographers.
But why was he to become one of the most
prominent members of Flickr attracting
thousands of users in such a short time.
That itself amazed the website staff and
they started looking for answers too. They
published the interview they made with Eric
on the same website,. Yet, it didnt provide
any real answers to what was behind this
stunning success. Later on, Yahoo made
another interview with Eric but questions
seemed to be concentrated on getting Erics
recognition and appreciation of Yahoos
and Flickrs role in his spectacular success.

Those questions lead to obtaining his

assurance to continue publishing and posting
his photographs on Flickr.
http://www.ickr.com/photos

That only demonstrated how signicant
were Erics photographs to one of the top
three sites on the planet, but still nothing
much to explain what was behind Erics
amazingly rapid success.
So I decided to contact Eric in search for the
valuable answer I was eager to get.
The Secrets of Success
How did you achieve such a remarkable
success in the world of photography in a
very short period?

Hospitality knows no bounds.

From being invited to tea or a wedding,
having your taxi paid for or being given a
wedge of the precious and omnipresent qat,
The scale and lengths to which a Yemeni will
go to make you feel welcome will never fail
to surprise you.
Generous And Admirable Women
by Kate Heinriech
Three months ago I came to Yemen to study
Arabic. Being half a world away from my

family and friends has been difcult, but

meeting Yemeni women has been a wonderful
blessing. I have had the opportunity to meet
educated and uneducated women, young and
old, single and married. As I have become
friends with my teacher and visited with
women in their homes I have learned many
things about Yemeni women. Women of
Yemen love their families and work very
hard to take care of their parents, brothers,
sisters, husbands, and children. Women of
Yemen love their friends and neighbors.

I have been warmly welcomed into homes

and invited to weddings. Women of Yemen
love their country and desire to have a
positive inuence. Women of Yemen love
their god. I believe this is the origin of their
values and what motivates their kindness to
others and desire to live an honorable life.
As a follower of Jesus I have appreciated the
respect women of Yemen show to those of
other beliefs. Jesus alone has given me hope.
He is the most important part of my life. I
share the desire of Yemeni women to please

17

of the people of Jibla become especially

apparent in their practice of wedding feasts.
Most people of Jibla are farmers descended
in long lineages from the people
of
surrounding countryside. A minority consists
of government ofcials and immigrants from
other regions. In different seasons, a number
of local visitors and foreign tourists come
to the city to learn about its rich heritage.
Yemenis come to while away the summer
morning and nights and foreign tourists spend
their holidays here too.

Unique History, Magnicent Scenery, And

Charming People
Yemen is a country of contrasts, from the
vestige inducing mountain top villages of
the Haraz to Plush green terraced slopes of
mount Saber in Taiz, and from the hustle and
bustle of Socotra.
It has now been ve months since I arrived in
Yemen and I can honestly say that I still cant
quite believe it.
It was in line to become UNESCO world
heritage site but wasnt enough. I spend

my weekends relaxing in stunning wades

or raising along terrifyingly beautiful roads
from one picturesque ancient fortress villages
to the next.
The scale of Yemen is history and culture
seems unimaginable. Noahs ark, the queen
of Sheba, ancient frankincense routes and
mud skyscrapers in the desert, but it is the
Yemeni people who really make a stay here
memorable.
Dont be fooled by the daggers (or the
occasional Kalashnikov)

bright side, I was told that Yemeni people

were very welcoming. After one week spent
in Sanaa, I can certainly say to which extent
the little statement is true! The people here
really are amusing. I cannot think of any
other place in the world where I received
such a warm welcome contrary to what I
was told. I feel that most of the people here
are very open minded contrary to what I was
told, Yemen (or at least Sanaa) is anything
dangerous. I even feel safer here than in my
town back in France. Finally, I really dont
think of Yemen as a backward place. Its
features, a lot of old buildings which in my
opinion, in what makes Yemen an unique
and beautiful.
I conrm, Yemen as tremendously authentic,
beautiful and warmly welcoming. I have the
feeling that my month here is going to be
much too short, I will denitely be back. God
willing.
The Essence of Civilization
By Katja Kumar
The very moment I arrived to Yemen I was
impressed by the beauty of the country,
culture diversity, its nature, architecture but
especially by the warmth, friendliness and
hospitality of its people.
I was nicely welcomed in every Yemeni city
and village I visited.
I spent a great time with Mammari families
and with them and I saw the way how people
live in Yemen.
I enjoyed my time discovering the nature
and the sites with local men and learned a lot
about Yemeni traditions, food and religion
with Yemeni women.
Jibla: Amazingly Glamorous
By James Dalton
A thousand year old hilltop town surrounded
by plush green slopes, that feels more like
South America than a mere four hour drive
from the dusty streets of Sanaa.
After ten minutes at neck-breaking speed, on
the back of a motorbike from Ibb we were
delighted to be able to use our now slightly
shaky legs to walk the short distance up a hill
to the town centre. Unfortunately the sights
of Jibla would have to wait, as our less than
perfect sounding motorbikes had apparently
made the entire town aware of our presence.

We were instantly tafudled (a Yemeni

phenomenon) and led along the labyrinth
like lanes to the imams house for tea. After
a seemingly endless number of steps we
arrived on the roof of the house and found
ourselves staring down upon a town which
had barely changed since the 12th century:
The minarets of the Queen Arwa mosque
blaring out the Friday call to prayer, the
omnipresent Yemeni qat chewer making his
way through the winding cobbled streets and
the Baadan Mountains cloaked in dark and
menacing rain clouds in the background.
After ve cups of tea, and after nally

managing to convince our host that there

really was nothing else that he could do for us,
we made our way down to the Wadi skirting
the town in the bottom of the valley. A group
of boys were playing football, occasionally
stopping to let an old man or car pass, goats
and sheep searched the Wadis banks for
previously undiscovered food, and we were
able to watch the sunset over an impossibly
perfect and peaceful town.
Rich Culture
Day to day life here may often seem other
wise ordinary. But the exclusive traditions

Bir Ali
Where A Mountain, A Desert And An Ocean
Meet
In Bir Ali, the beach is so beautiful it seems
unreal.
The sand is white and the water is a clear,
crystal blue with gentle waves. There are
no buildings, only thatched beach cabins.
Because of this it is very quite and really feels
as though you are getting away from it all.
It is nice for a day trip from Al mukalla, but
even better to bring some friends and spend
a night grilling and barbequing on the beach
and sleeping in a thatched beach cabin.
Swimming and relaxing on white sand
beaches, enjoying the history and atmosphere
of a beautiful port city and seeing a different
side of Yemen are all reasons to include a visit
to Al mukalla on your journey through Yemen.

A Spirit of Warm Hospitality

Written by :Will Dobson
Having arrived in Yemen barely before 72
hours, I hardly feel in a suitable position
to give a valid opinion of this ancient
civilization. However, on rst impression,
there seems no doubt that this is a truly
beautiful country.
Although old Sanaa has little esthetic,
contrast could not be greater in the old city,
place seemingly caught in time, its ancient
buildings rising from the ground like mini
skyscrapers.
However, it is the hospitable nature of the
people which, I believe, has so far left the
most profounding impression on me.
Having lived in England, where everyone
is suspicious of others, the warmth and
welcoming nature of the people is as

surprising as it is pleasing.
The street seller who invites you to sit with
him and drink tea, (no purchase necessary)
or the taxi driver who offers you some of his
precious Qat, I even got out to lunch with a
Yemeni professor (friend of a friend) and
when I enquired about the price, was told it
had been taken care of. It is this kindness of
spirit which assures that I will enjoy the next
6 weeks.
Friendly People in a Safe Country

much better than I expected. Before I left

To see a side of Yemen completely different

from Sanaa,
take a trip to Al Mukalla.
Al Mukalla is a beautiful city by the sea. The
ubiquitous qat and jambiyyas of Sanaa are
difcult to nd .
Due to its status as a port city, now and in
the past, a blend of Arab, African and Indian
heritage can be seen in the faces of the people
of Almukalla.
The architecture of the city reects its seaside
character. For example, the minarets of many
Almukalla mosques resemble lighthouses

and most of the buildings are white, very

different from other places in Yemen.
Another unique thing about Al mukalla is the
abundance of small carts selling sambosa and
other fried treats, delicious and cheap at only
ve to ten Rials a piece.
Also not to be missed is the fantastic
seafood.
Some excellent activities in Al mukalla
include a visit to the old city followed by
a stroll on the seafront promenade. My
favorite place in Almukalla is the river area
in the center of the city close to the sea. It is

especially nice to visit at night when the city

lights are reecting off the water. The best
thing to do in this area during the evening
is to sit in a cafe, eat dinner, smoke sheesha,
and just enjoy the scenery and balmy evening
weather.
After dinner you can walk across the
pedestrian bridge and have some vanilla soft
serve ice cream.
If you have some extra time in Al mukalla,
a nice place to visit is the Qana tourist
complex at Bir Ali, one and half hour west
of Almukalla by car.

Buzzards, Griffon and Egyptian Vultures are

all watched in the show.
Like Nowhere Else
Mayoun (Perim) Island is just two miles away
from the coast. Its a relaxing Island with
great snorkeling and diving opportunities in
the warm and clear water of the Red Sea.
The Island has been cited in ancient Greek
records. Shaykh Said is the name of an
ancient port on Ras Bab-el-Mandeb. It exists
as a settlement until today. Shaykh Said is
located on the north-west side of Ras Babel-Mandeb.
The setting there is just amazing. As once
said by Mr. David Stanton, the chairman of

10

the Yemen Ornithological Society Where

else can one sit on an Asian beach and watch
the Suns orb disappear behind African
mountains?
Al Noor City, The City of Light
A couple of years ago, it was revealed that
there is a plan to build a bridge across the
strait, linking Yemen with Africa. The Bridge
of the Horns as it was named would be the
longest suspended passing in the world.
Located in Yemen on the beach front of the
Gulf of Aden and Bab el Mandab, a great city
would be built as part of the gigantic project.
It will be a globally integrated city that is said

to challenge human intellectual expectations,

commercial nancing experiences, cultural
limitations and religious barriers. A rst of
its kind.
The city aptly named Al-Noor Yemen
is based on a combination of leading-edge
master planning and design, interwoven with
Yemen history and cultural identity, to create
a truly international city that would be the
envy of any State or Nation.
The city is to provide global, physical and
virtual connectivity between Africa, Europe
and the Americas.
There is no doubt that Bab el Mandab shall
become in the near future much more strategic
to Yemen, the region and the whole world.

Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a chokepoint

between Yemen and Africa that connects
the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden on
the Arab Sea and the Indian Ocean. Its
20 miles wide and is divided into two
channels by Mayoun (Perim) Island; the
western channel is 16 miles across, and the
eastern is 2 miles wide.
With the building of the Suez Canal, the
strait assumed great strategic and economic
importance, acting as a strategic link
between the Mediterranean and the Indian
Ocean. An estimated 4 million barrels of
oil pass through the strait per day.
According
to
Paleoanthropologic
hypothesis and even some religious
traditions too, the straits of Bab-el-Mandeb
were probably witness to the earliest

migrations of humans between Asia and

Africa, which occurred roughly 60,000
years ago.
A World Of Never-Ending Wonders
Flanking the mouth of the Red Sea, the gate
to the southwestern corner of the Arabian
Peninsula has so much to offer visitors
in addition to its delightful, pleasant and
unique coasts.
Within meters of those beautiful coasts
are dense coral reefs, stretching for miles;
and introducing one of the most diverse
ecosystems on our planet. Diving is
denitely an option; providing opportunities
to explore the world of marine life besides
the coral reefs. The Red sea is the habitat
of over 1,000 invertebrate species and 200
soft and hard corals and is the worlds

northernmost tropical sea.

The Gulf of Aden, which is just around

bird-watching, providing world-wide

It lies on the extreme southern edge of
the Palaearctic; and is certainly on a great

Yemen has always been an important trade link between the East
and the West since ancient times. It is strategically located on the Bab
el Mandeb strait and has been a central shipping hub for thousands
of years too.

There is no doubt that the exceptional situation

that Yemen has been experiencing and the
circumstancesYemenia has gone through in the
past few months disturbed many of Yemenias
admirers and clients. Such concerns were
clearly revealed through the large number
of letters, emails and calls received by the
company from clients inside and outside
Yemen. All of those expressed their support
for the company and extended sympathy and
shared feelings. That affectionate response
wasnt surprising in respect of the deeprooted relationship between Yemenia and
its clients and admirers. The bond that has
been established and strengthened for more
than fty years since the company launched
its services as a commercial carrier in the
sixties of the 20th century; and represented
much more than merely an airline carrier for
the Yemenis. It was a dream that came true
to end isolation and a wish that was fullled
and watched in the skies of reality. Yemenia,
since then and up till now, has been playing
a vital role contributing to Yemens cultural,
civilizational and development progress.
I would not be exaggerating to state that the
relationship between Yemenia and its clients
has exceeded the limits of a usual relation
between a carrier and a client to a higher
level of realistic and humane relationship
based on affectionate feelings of correlation.
The passion of Yemenias admirers and clients
has contributed effectively to strengthening
the company, its progress and development
step by step; witnessing with it the good and
bad times.
Thousands of Yemenis have worked for the
company. It has added much to the lives of
men and women of different generations, and

they have contributed so much in its success

and prosperity. It has always and remains to
be a signicant part of Yemens cultural and
civilized image being the regions longest
established carrier combining the records of
Yemenia and Yemda and its history is in fact
the history of the airline industry in Yemen.

Dear passengers,
A company that enjoys such a status in the
hearts and minds of its clients through
maintaining their trust; its understanding
of its development, cultural and humane
role is capable of getting through any crisis
and exceptional circumstances by the will of
God and through your continuous support
and affection. All that In addition to the
solidarity, commitment and loyalty of my
co-workers who are demonstrating precious
qualities to conrm the feasibility of the
human development strategy embraced by
the company all through the years. It is here
where the efciency of the principal that
says humans are the target and purpose of
development is proven.
I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all our
clients and devoted admirers, to every single
co-worker in Yemenia for their dedication and
professionalism, and thank you very much
for all those who are standing rmly besides
Yemen to help it out of these exceptional
circumstances to keep Yemenia more capable
in facing challenges and Yemen thriving and
stronger in the face of any crisis .
From all of us at Yemen Airways, thank you
for ying with us today.
