For our case study, we classified 4 causes of Urban Heat Island which are rapid development, hardscape, deforestation

and others. The pie chart above shows that 41 percent of the correspondents agree that URBAN Heat Island happen due to deforestation. The forestation is an activity that clearing earths forest in a huge scale, often resulting in damages to the quality of land. The forests are cut down to cater human needs. Follow by rapid development, 8 percent lag to deforestation. Mega projects by building a lot of office block give a impact to mother natures to restore itself naturally. Next, 22 percent of the surveys agree that hard scape brings the Urban Heat Island issue. The hardscape is consequently from deforestation and rapid development on the Putrajaya itself. Typical hard scaping examples include paved area like roads, walkways, large business complexes and housing areas. The remains 4 percent vote for others as they claims it is due to the wear and tear of the planet, which is our mother nature is aging.

The pie chart reveals that 4 factors that affect the daily life of the correspondents. Less deviation between discomfort and sickness which is lead by sickness by 1 percent. Due to heat, sicknesses like hot fever, migraine, rashes, and nausea are symptom that brought to 35 percent. Besides that, 34 percent facing discomfort by the Heat Urban Island. Heavy sweat, dryness, thirsty and dizziness are a few symptom of discomfort that they experience. 23 percent claimed that this phenomenon affecting their outdoor activities such as jogging, walking or picnic. They prefer to stay in the controlled temperature area rather than doing outdoor activities under the sun. Nevertheless, 8 percents correspondent the urban Heat Island does not affecting their daily life.

Figure shows that effect of Urban Heat island in Putrajaya as they strongly agree that air quality and health are affected. This heat phenomenon usually brings a dry ambient and causing a haze occurred. The haze contains small particles that could be affecting human health. Consequently, medicals expenditure will increase as they come to the hospital for treatment. More the less, water usage will increase as on developing areas the demand on water will increase proportionally. 10 respondents strongly agree that energy consumption increasing rapidly ad they using air conditioning continuously to overcome this Urban Heat Island.

Conclusion This study set out with aim to investigate the cause and affect or Urban Heat Island in Putrajaya. Questionnaire are distributed randomly to Putrajayas residences and collected as primary data. The study shown that deforestation are the main causes of Urban Heat Island due to rapid land clearing activities for development resulting no shady tree available. Moreover, air and health quality are the worst effect of this phenomenon as haze occurred during the day contributed to bad air quality. Consequently, it affecting to humans health and increase the medical expenditure. The result of this study indicate that massive deforestation and rapid development are important factors that influence the increasing of the temperature and finally affecting air and health quality in Putrajaya. However, these findings are only valid for Putrajaya area and cannot be generalized to other city.
