In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

I never expected to write his biography or narrate his story because I had a feeling close to certainty that I would bid farewell to life before he. Life, however is in the hands of Allah Almighty. And today here I am trying to reveal and make clear what had been hidden from people about his life, character and qualities for the almost three and a half years we spent together in the Land of Jihad in the Yemen of Hikmah and Iman.

I met Abu Hamman (Naif bin Muhammad bin Said bin al-Kudri al-Qahtani) in Wadi al-Abu Jabbara of the Waila area of Saada province in 1427 AH. He was 19 years old at that time. I saw him as a young man of brilliant intellect and mild temper. I was amazed by the composure he possessed despite his youth. The beginning was in Wadi al-Abu Jabbara, where he prepared himself with what knowledge he could. He learned and trained on different types of light and heavy weapons, explosives and martial arts. He also prepared himself intellectually and spiritually and he, may Allah have mercy on him, was avid to learn anything that would enable him to serve his Ummah and his Deen. He also learned some media skills which helped him later to put together the first issue of Sada al-Malahim magazine by his individual efforts. After this period of preparation was over, he joined his brothers and participated in the planning the blessed operation against the Crusader Spanish tourists in Marib, in which 8 people from the Spanish intelligence delegation were killed, all praise and thanks be to Allah. This operation was a

good start for him and a successful beginning for his practical activities. A short time after this blessed operation, the martyr Abu Hammam, as we consider him to be, met with Amir Leader Abu Basir Nasser al-Wahayshi, may Allah protect him, and the martyr joined the members of his organization. This was a turning point in his life, may Allah have mercy on him. As was usual among all who dealt with or associated with Abu Hammam, Sheikh Abu Basir was amazed by brother Abu Hammam, his intense determination, his patience and good character. This compelled Sheikh Abu Basir to provide conditions and resources, which were scarce at that time, for him so that he could, through the help of Allah, sow the seeds for the birth of Sada al-Malahim magazine, which played a pioneering role in our war against the Crusaders and their helpers on the ideological and media level. Through the grace of Allah, the magazine gave the Mujahideen the upper-hand in the wars of hearts and minds. This was accomplished through the grace of Allah, then the efforts of brothers, led by the departed Abu Hammam al-Qahatani. He, as I mentioned, prepared the first issue of the magazine on his own, and named it Sada al-Malahim. After it was released, and after the great welcome it was given among the Muslims, he, may Allah have mercy on him, increased his efforts, and set up a complete media apparatus. In addition to producing the magazine, Allah also enabled him to recruit a group of brothers with expertise in the field of Jihadist media. I mention in this regard a story which reveals the zeal of our brothers and their sincerity to Allah as we regard them. Abu Hammam was keeping company with some of the brothers, including Abu al-Kheir al-Asiri, may Allah have mercy on them, when each of the brothers made a wish. Abu alKheir wished to carry out a martyrdom operation in Bilad al-Haramain and Abu Hammam wished to found a media establishment. Each got their wish. Abu al-Kheir carried out a martyrdom operation against the Taghut Muhammad bin Naif, and Allah allowed Abu Hammam to establish the alMalahim Media Foundation with a complete technical staff, after he began his tasks on his own with a portable computer. Thus does the zeal of men surmount the mountain peaks: through determination, will, sacrifice; continuous effort and following success with success. That is the Grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases: and Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding.

After its construction was completed and bore fruit, the al-Malahim Establishment became self-sufficient in cadre and personnel and was not affected by the absence of any one of them, even if he were in charge. Abu Hammams mind was at ease and he was cheered when he saw this project turn from dream into reality. He resolved to turn to the military field and was no less innovative in that than he was in the military field. He completed what he lacked in military knowledge, and trained a large number of brothers, establishing with his brothers the Shaheed Abu al-Kheir al-Asiri Camp. Diligence, hard work, patience and forbearance were his watchword. You would never see him but he was working and the eye would not fail to find him in places of training and encampment. In addition to the creativity and knowledge he enjoyed, he possessed a heart that knew no fear and a soul never shaken by terror. I was amazed by his extreme courage and audacity. It was as the poet said: You see the gaunt man and so despise him, Yet beneath his robe is a fearless lion. As for his character, you cant say enough about it. He was, as all who knew him would bear witness, a man of high morals, yet kind and easy going and of rare nobility. He, may Allah have mercy on him, would give the best of what he owned to his brothers, never refusing anyone if they asked for something he owned. He was eager to work in the Land of Two Mosques and to prepare for that, but circumstances intervened between him and his desire. How excellent were you, Abu Hammam! You lived no more than 25 years, but in it you tackled experiences and gained knowledge than many whose beards have turned grey and whose feet have not been covered in dust walking on the path of Allah for even a day or slept on the open ground wrapped in the sky beneath the roar of the warplanes even once. They did not feel fear in Allahs cause for even one hour. They did not once stand guard in the watches of the night or inflict one wound on the enemies of Allah. Sleep happy! There are few such as you! It is time you receive (the reward) for the good work you presented from the Great and Merciful Lord. Rejoice in the martyrdom you sought and desired. I still remember you in your last days on earth when you were sincerely beseeching Allah to grant you martyrdom. You achieved it, as we consider

you, but we recommend no one before Allah. The time has come for you to receive the best of rewards from your Lord after you were foremost and pioneering in good works in harassing the tawagheet and exasperating the enemies of the Deen by your deeds and your steadfastness. I ask the Almighty Lord to generously grant you the best reward and recompense and to make you one of the dwellers of Paradise who Allah has so graced among the Prophets, the righteous, the martyrs and the virtuous. They are the best companions. Praise be to Allah, Lord of all that Exists. Written by: His Friend and Boon Companion, Abu Khalid al-Asiri
