JUANISM
A Musical. An Allegory. A Tragedy. A Play. An Art. A Social Issue.
January 21-22, 2011, SM Cinema 1

JUANISM is a 3-series play of varied genres depicting different social issues in the Philippines. Performed by three of the most active performing organizations in UP Cebu, Juanism, aims to raise a different brand of activism through the usage of social media, theatre and creative artistry. The Union of Progressive Students in cooperation with UPSTAGE (University of the Philippines Students Theatre Art Guild for Education), UP Sayaw-E (UP Sayaw-Evolution) and UP Serenata, gives everyone a challenge to start the societal change from every Juan within. Juanism offers an eye-opener through employment of theatrical materials that hopefully would invoke a strong feeling of national pride and identity even after the show. It begs to the consciousness of every Filipino citizen the hope and glory the nation deserves. Overwhelming social issues may make us lose hope of rising after every storm; Juanism acts the other way around by creatively transforming these threats to opportunities by the means of proactive education and activities.
