President Lynn Holmes called the general meeting of the Whidbey Cruzers to order at approximately 6:50pm held at the Oak Harbor Windjammer Park on August 2, 2011. There were 47 in attendance. It was National Night Out to help fight against and be aware of crime around us. We brought our cars to show off and held our general meeting. We also had a dessert potluck. There were plenty of food booths, games, and beneficial information available. Previous minutes were approved as written. New Members and New Cars President Lynn told us there is a new member, Kevin Black who owns a Mustang (dont know the year). Welcome Kevin; hope to meet you at our September meeting. New cars in the club, a 41 Cadillac owned by Lynn Holmes and a 59 Chevy Impala owned by Don Bierce. There was also a mention about Larry Kiger, I dont know if that was a reference to a new vehicle or not. 41 Chevy 2dr Coupe mentioned last month is owned by Bob Cairns. Car Fines I dont think any fines were collected for this night out. Duane Dillard reported there are now 173 paid members. Duane says we have a new merchant who will give us a Whidbey Cruzer discount, Custom Engraving on Ault Field Road before the Pizza Factory. The Sunshine report for July....A Get Well card, was sent to Dick Shanniak, he has not been feeling well, with his ongoing medical problems. So happy to see you at the Rendezvous, but did not feel well enough to stay... Wishing Kathy Stiltz, a speedy recovery, after her illness and being in the hospital. Another Get well card was sent to Katherine Christmas, she has been back in the hospital, surgery delayed again, think it will happen in the next few days, all of our best to sweet Katherine for this upcoming procedure. A Get Well Card was sent to Paul Wagner, who has been in the hospital, home now and on the mend. ..Mike Koontz was sent a Get Well card, he is in the hospital and recovering from open heart surgery, he called Bud yesterday, felt really groggy, probably not feeling like visitors yet... Lets keep all of our Cruzer buddies in our thoughts, wishing good health, speedy recoveries and lots of love to all.... Cruise Committee Mel Rogers Mel did not have a report; he just thanked everyone who attended the July functions and also a special thanks to Prez Lynn Holmes and those who helped out with the car show that was held on the 23 of July at the Old Chevy Dealership. Pioneer Automotive and the Whidbey Cruzers co-hosted the event. All proceeds went to the Help House. See CRUZ N with the PREZ by Lynn Holmes. Brunch/Hawker Hurricane Tour, Sunday, August 21 Leave Flowers Marine at 10am to have Brunch at Bobs Burgers&Brew in Burlington and then tour the restoration of the Hawker Hurricane WWII Fighter Plane. Social Committee Deanna Rogers Deanna just reminded everyone to sign up for those events they wish to attend. Events are listed under the Car Show or Cruise Committees and Events Calendar. She will show and advise you on how to proceed in setting up the event, shell make a signup sheet and announce it and email it at or before our next general meeting. Car Show Committee Harry Abbott for Ted Mann Careage of Whidbey Car Show, Wednesday, August 10, 11:00 to 3pm. Show your car, enjoy a very nice lunch and make some older folks pretty happy. There will be Horseshoes, raffles, and prizes. As of July 8th, 9 people signed up to show their cars.

Anacortes Waterfront Festival, Car Show Display, August 27, 1pm 8pm. Lots of activities such as a Restaurant Clam Chowder contest, boat tours, and more at the end of Commercial Ave. NO HISTORIAN OR TECH REPORTS THIS MONTH OLD BUSINESS 1. Whidbey Cruzer Christmas Party, Saturday, December 17, CPO Club Vice Pres. Gail Jaeger organized such a great Rendezvous this year that she is all stoked up for the Christmas Party she is organizing. Everyone has to attend! The theme is Silver Bells. She is being very mysterious about the affair! FABULOUS is the word she used! NEW BUSINESS 1. Bill Morrow reminded the Board that is time to form a Nominating Committee for next years Officers, 2012. OUR NEXT MEETING will be September 6, 2011. Potluck is at 6 pm. And always great food, bring a dish to share, plates and utensils, and your choice of beverage or get a drink from the bar. A general meeting will follow promptly at 7 pm. If you dont come you are definitely missing out on a good time, camaraderie, and networking. Also we have a 50/50 drawing and in most cases the winner takes home $100 or more. Garage Sale, August 13 and 14, 8 am. There will be a garage sale at Joan Reeves home. I live out by Deception Pass just beyond the 40 mile marker on the left just passed what use to be Botany Bay fruit stand. There will be signs. 3. GENE HITT This gentleman attended our Rendezvous with his wife Doris. He is from Twin City Idlers and MGCC Car Clubs. We had some cruises, car shows, and the Rendezvous. Thank you to Gail and Chuck Jaeger for hosting this fun event! The car show for the Help House was a big success. We collected about 150 items of food and $2,000. BIG thanks to all the Cruzers who helped with this event. We received a thank you letter and card from the North Whidbey Help House. HAPPY CRUZN!
