BIG IDEA: Gods Protection

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 5:11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, which those who love your name may rejoice in you. MATERIAL: Umbrella, printout of Scripture page for a coloring activity This morning when I got up, it was raining. The sun was not shinning, and I hated to face another rainy day. It made me feel so blue inside. I had wanted to go biking, and now with the rain it would have to wait. Showers come from God. He created the world and all that is in it. He made everything good! So, since God made everything good, would you say rain is good? (Wait for a response) So I got dressed, put on my jacket, and got my umbrella. Now remember, I did not like the rain and did not want to get wet. So I walked out of the house holding my umbrella down by my side. What do you think was going to happen? Right, I was going to get wet. Yikes! Id better open that umbrella (Open it up) or it will do me no good at all.

God has provided protection for us when we belong to Him. He is our refuge and that should make us happy. God will spread His arms of love and protection over us to keep us from being harmed in any way. Since He is our protection, we can trust that He will do what is best for each one of us. He will never leave us nor forsake us - of that we can be confident. As long as we take Jesus with us wherever we go, (we cannot leave him at home or put in a jar) he will guide and protect us. He loves us so much and gave his life that we may know him in a personal way. When we ask Jesus into our hearts, and confess our sins, he will forgive us and clean us from all unrighteousness. That is a big word isnt it? Anything that is not right and good is unrighteousness. When we are righteous we act like Jesus. All our decision are based on what would Jesus do. Let us wear his umbrella everywhere we go! Rev. Jeanne McIntosh August 8, 2011. All rights reserved.
