SIPROTEC easy 7SJ45 Numerical overcurrent protection powered by current transformers (CT)

Application The numerical overcurrent protection device SIPROTEC easy 7SJ45 does not require auxiliary supply. It derives its power supply from standard current transformers with load or fault current and is primarily intended as a radial feeder or transformer protection (backup) in electrical networks. The device provides definite time and inverse time characteristics according to IEC and ANSI standards. Construction Within its compact housing the protection device contains all required components: Measuring and processing Alarm and command output Operation and indication (without a PC) Optional integrated trip indication Auxiliary supply from current transformers Maintenance not necessary (no battery) Housing The housing dimensions of the devices are such that the devices SIPROTEC easy can in general be installed into the existing cut outs in cubicles. Alternatively rail mounting is deliverable. The compact housing allows an easy mounting and a version for the most adverse environmental conditions, even with extreme humidity (condensation allowed), is also available. Improved measuring technique The influence of high frequency transients and transient DC components are largely suppressed by the implementation of numerical measured value processing. The behaviour of electro mechanical relays is emulated in the device. An application of this device next to and in parallel with electro mechanical relays is possible. Permanent self-monitoring The hard and software in the device is during operation continuously monitored. In this manner, a very high availability is accomplished. Convenient and simple setting The protection function settings are applied with integrated DIP-switches. The device allows a fast commissioning.

Pulse output or relay output are optionally available. Pulse output: These devices require a low energy trip release (24V DC / 0,1 Ws / 20 ) in the circuit breaker, and are intended for modern switchgear. In case of circuit breaker failure a repetition of the tripping signal is initiated.
