Router>enable - Moves you from user mode to privileged mode. Router #disable - Moves you from privileged mode back to user mode. Router# exit - Logs a user off or Router #logout

Router# setup - Enters setup mode from the command line. Router# configure terminal - Moves you into global configuration mode. Router# terminal history size 25 The router will now remember the last 25 commands instead of the default, which is the last10commands. You can set this buffer to up to256. Router# show version - Displays information about the router and the current IOS installed. Router# show flash - displays the contents of flash memory. Router# show history - Lists all commands in the history buffer. Task 2: Continue with the Setup Dialog Box The router prompts, Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes /no] Enter yes and press Enter to continue with the setup dialog box

What is the importance of the words in square brackets? The default response is yes if the Enter key is pressed.

If you had opted to save the configuration, where would the router save this information? NVRAM

By default, the prompt shows Router. Something different might appear if this router has a name. What prompt did the router display? Router>

What does the prompt symbol following a router name mean? The Router> prompt symbol means that a user is logged in to the user EXEC mode of the router. The router prompt changed from Router> to Router#. This means that you are now in privileged EXEC mode. What would happen if you answered yes to the question System configuration has been modified. Save? It would copy the current running configuration to NVRAM. The erase startup-config command would be useless because you just put a new configuration into NVRAM and it will be used as the running configuration on the next reload

Use the Help Feature Press Enter until you get a router prompt. What router prompt is displayed? The prompt Ch2_Lab# is displayed. To get information on how to use the Help feature, enter help at the prompt. How do you get help? Enter a question mark (?) and press Enter

At the user EXEC prompt, enter? to get a full list of available commands. At the bottom of the screen, you see -- More --. Press the spacebar to scroll to the next screen of output. Press Enter to scroll one line at a time. Press any other key to escape from the output and return to the prompt. Enter the command logout or exit (both have the same effect). What happened? The user is logged out of the router.

Press Enter to return to user EXEC mode and enter privileged EXEC mode. What command do you use to enter privileged EXEC mode? enable Enter the required password. What password do you use? class Enter c? to see a list of all commands that begin with c. List all the c commands available.: Ch2_Lab#c? call ccm-manager cd clear clock cns configure connect copy Enter clo and the press the Tab key. What happens? The rest of the clock command is finished for the user.

In this case, the argument is not hh: mm: ss but is the format you should use for the hour, minutes, and seconds argument. Enter the current hour,

minutes, and seconds using military time (a24-hour clock). After you enter the correct time, press Enter, What happens? The message % Incomplete command is displayed. Instead of retyping the command, what key combination can you use to recall the most recent command used? Ctrl-P

Right-click My Network Places and choose Properties. Right-click your current LAN connection and choose Properties. Scroll down and find Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select it. Then click Properties. Choose the Use the following IP address option and enter the work-stations IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Click the OK button twice to apply your settings.
