ABOUT OUR COLLEGE

It is an institute of paramount excellence and international standards in technology, humanities and the sciences.
BITS has provided the highest quality technical education to students from all over India admitted solely on the basis of merit. The primary motive of BITS is to "train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information". In the latest accreditation by NAAC, it achieved an A grade, and a stupendous CGPA of 3.71 out of 4.

The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G. D. Birla - an eminent industrialist.

LOCATION
Nested in a terrain that boasts of diverse landscapes, from the verdant hills to the balmy beaches, BITS Pilani, Goa campus is set in a perfect ambience of beauty. It is spread over 188 acres, and overlooking the river Zuari, its panoramic view encompasses hillocks, forests and foliage.

It is a mere 4km from the airport, and is situated off the National Highway 17, making transportation hassle free.

HISTORY
The Goa campus, was commissioned in the August of 2004, as a Sister Campus to BITS Pilani, Pilani.
It was inaugurated by our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Manmohan Singh. BITS Pilani - Goa campus is home to 2400 students and 300 staff members. Dedicated to the BITS aim of providing quality education to the future of the country. BITS is a Deemed University and offers more than 35 different programs on campus.

FACILITIES
The infrastructure the campus prides itself upon, is indeed avant-garde. Largest Auditorium: A 2200 seating capacity air-conditioned auditorium is situated right in the heart of the institute building. The auditorium has highperformance surround sound systems, 70mm projection screen, boasts of 3 set of balconies to accommodate special guests and faculty members during popular events and festivals. The Practice School (PS) system of education is an effort to establish institutionalized linkages between the industrial world and the academic world.

FACILITIES (continued)
Spacious Labs, State of art classrooms with soundproof acoustics, computer labs with Internet facility and a huge Library define the infrastructural counters of the institution. The Lecture Theaters, each with a seating capacity of 400, are well-designed with multimedia projection facilities and excellent sound systems. It being a fully residential school; all hostels are provided with single room accommodation for both boys and girls. Internet connection is provided in each room as a part of Project BITS Connect!

In collaboration with Salgaocar Sports Club (Goa) and the Sports Authourity of Goa Invitations to over 350 colleges from around India Attendance: 4,000/day Total Budget: INR 6 lakh Workshops and Entertainment Nights by professionals from around the world.

Charity Marathon in association with HelpAge India.

Spree-Pure Sport 10 the National level Sports Festival of BITS, Pilani- Goa Campus which is scheduled to take place from the 4th to 7th of April 2010. Last years version, Spree09, held in association with Salgaoncar Sports Club and the Sports Authority of Goa, proved to be an exciting sports festival where a total of over 450 young players vied for medals in this sports extravaganza. The festival showcased 9 major sports. Apart from these conventional events Spree also featured the recently popular Futsal matches running parallel to traditional Indian sporting events like kabaddi and kho-kho. The very popular Spree Marathon was held in association with - HelpAge India, an NGO organization which generated a huge amount of money for charity. Mallakhamb and Kalaripayattu were the major attractions during nights. A plethora of workshops were organized, ranging from CPR to Cardiokickboxing. These also saw huge participation.
