MnDOT 2011 Safe Routes to School Grants by MnDOT District

MnDOT District 1 Northeastern Minnesota $243,211 $243,211 Thomson Township Design and construction of 10 foot wide trail. The trail will provide a connection to Esko Schools for a large residential area situated along a four-lane highway. MnDOT District 2 Northwestern Minnesota $193,460 East Grand Forks $193,460 The project is a 5' sidewalk on the west side of Bygland Road from 6th St. SE to 13th St. SE with improved intersection/ped crossings at 13th St. SE. MnDOT District 3 Central Minnesota $446,704 Pierz $446,704 This application is to construct approximately 4,200 lineal feet of sidewalks and make safety improvements: pavement markings, pedestrian refuge, and dynamic speed display system. MnDOT District 4 West Central Minnesota $546,515 Alexandria $268,432 Sidewalk, street light, and crosswalk improvements for students (including those with disabilities) walking to and from Lincoln Elementary and nearby parks. Detroit Lakes $278,083 Build three sidewalks to increase walking and biking to school for the two Elementary schools in the Detroit Lakes Public School system. MnDOT District 6 Southeastern Minnesota $740,140 Goodview $282,690 This project involves adding sidewalk along 8th Street, the most utilized route to school. Connect sidewalk from 8th St. to 6th St, a major thoroughfare. Lewiston $101,500 Construct a multi-use path for the Benson Drive Neighborhood to Lewiston Altura Elementary School. Make Safety improvements to several street crossing and designate a preferred route to both the elementary and middle school. Eyota $355,950 Use expertise and data from SRTS study to provide a closed route for Dover-Eyota Elementary and Dover-Eyota Middle School students. The city intends to close sidewalk gaps, extend a trail, create a speed zone and install handicap accessible curbs to allow all ages and abilities to benefit from a safe walking path to the schools.

MnDOT District 7 Southern Minnesota $576,963 Windom $252,919 Construct a 10' wide, 3300' long sidewalk on school property allowing students to walk on a sidewalk instead of a very busy street to get to the Middle School/High School. Fairmont $124,064 Construction of 900' trail segment connecting to Five Lakes Elementary School and crosswalk upgrades. Arlington $199,980 Sidewalk and infrastructure improvements will create a safer environment for students walking/bicycling to Sibley East and St. Paul's Schools, those using ISD 2310 athletic facilities, and those accessing regional trail. MnDOT District 8 Southwestern Minnesota $219,828 Pipestone $219,828 The project will construct a route that will connect existing paths/trails near local schools to enable students to safely walk/bike to school. Also, will provide walking/biking access to other recreation spots. MnDOT Metro District $776,028 Blaine $202,426 Construct 6' sidewalk on 91st Ave NE in front of the joint campus for Westwood Intermediate and Middle Schools and extending on Jackson St NE south to the 89th Ave city trail to provide safe walkway off the traveled road.

(MORE) Burnsville $107,100 Construct a trail from the Highway 13 multi-use trail to the school, new concrete sidewalk around the bike racks and install in-street school crossing signs to increase visibility. Fridley $108,840 Infrastructure improvements at three schools, including new trails/sidewalks, lighting, bike rack installation, driver feedback signs and pedestrian activated/timed flasher sign. Minnetonka $357,662 Build a sidewalk system for the main road in front of Glen Lake Elementary School to provide safe walkways to and from connecting neighborhoods streets.
