Thank You
Mary Cartwright Minister, Adults A huge thank you to all who participated, prepared meals (Tammy Aragaki), assisted financially, and prayed for the Amor Mission trip to Globe. It was a wonderful weekend of hard work, unity of the Spirit, and a wonderful time of fellowship. Our team was a blessing to Amor Ministries and to the family for whom we were building a home.
Please remember in prayer: Janet & Richard Clark, Dan Marty, Hal Marty and Glen Turner. Sympathy: Lisa Gabrielsens mother and Tana Walkers father passed away. Please remember these families. The flowers on the stage are provided by the Aragaki Family in memory of Fred.

During our 2011 winter retreat, participating students penned psalms of their own expressing the glory of God, their marvel for our Creator as well as their personal frustrations and convictions. Take a minute to read and be inspired.
You, Lord, are amazing. You direct everything in life. ! Nothing can hold you back. You love me when I am at my worst and my best. ! Nothing can separate you from me. You are great, Oh Lord. I want to live no other life ! than the one you want me to live. You give me strength when nothing else can. I feel you in worship and I see your beauty in ! nature and that is all I need.

Helping those in need: Water Bottle Drive for the Salvation Army collection today ShoeBox Ministries Toiletry Drive through August.
With the rise of our summer heat, Shoebox is once again experiencing a decrease in its donations. We are in desperate need of supplies to make our hygiene kits. The four top most needed items are full-size shampoo, full-size toothpaste, bar soap of any size and deodorant. We will, of course, take any kind of personal grooming item including those free hotel toiletries you may have picked up from your travels. Doing a toiletry drive can be a great way for students to earn their community service hours. Time put into making posters, spreading the word, collecting the donations, etc. all counts as community service hours. The need is great, so we hope you will please help spread the word and bring in some much-needed toiletries for our Valley's homeless families.
Our own Mia Laity will present a violin recital on Sunday, August 7th, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. It is a free recital and will be followed by a reception. The repertoire will include the music of Mendelssohn, Gluck, Kreisler among others, plus the beautiful Meditation from Thais, by Massenet. This talented young violinist will be studying at the Manhattan School of Music, New York City, in the fall. When home from school, she is involved in many of Chaparral's ministries. In addition to playing violin in morning worship services, Mia sings in the Adult Choir and Tapestry women's ensemble. She also helps in the nursery, and attends the 10:00 A.M. Report Sunday School Class. This summer, she has enjoyed Reap What You Sew (quilting group) and The Chain Gang (crocheting). All are invited to attend this beautiful recital.
Looking for a place to get involved and serve? The Well, our 11:05 service in the Commons, could use your help! We are looking for help in the following areas: running slides, greeters/communion servers, and help with setup or cleanup. All of these would be on a monthly rotational schedule! If you want to hear more, check out the next newsleer or email adrienne.armes@chaparral.org!

Helpful Information
We hope your worship experience with us will be meaningful. To help you feel a bit more comfortable with our campus and morning programs, we have included a few recommendations. We are glad you are here today!
We would like to get to know you! Each pew has a Welcome Book in which you can let us know prayer requests, sign up for events and update your information. Please pass the Welcome Book down the row so we can hear from everyone! Communion/Lords Supper All followers of Christ are welcome to participate in our Service of Communion. If you have prepared yourself for this very special moment with our Savior, you are invited to his table. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30) Please take the emblems as they are passed and partake when you are ready. Some prefer to take it while it is in front of them before passing it along. Offering In our first two services, a special time for giving is set aside. Participation is an act of worship and voluntary. During our third service there will not be a time specific for offering but rather boxes are placed at the entry to allow for giving as you are led. Nursery We have a friendly, well-staffed and impeccably clean nursery located on the north side of the narthex. Please see an usher for directions
