With 552 hp, a body to die for, and a 060 time of 3.2 seconds, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 has little room for improvement. But there is room for variation, and perhaps the most significant is the new Gallardo LP5502 Valentino Balboni. Limited to just 250 units worldwide, the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni is named after Lamborghinis esteemed test driver, who was hired by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself in 1967, and who has been instrumental in developing the dynamic attributes of every Lamborghini model introduced since 1973.
(542 versus 552 at 8000 rpm). But with just 3042 pounds of mass to propel 265 fewer than the LP560-4the lost ponies arent likely to be missed. Torque remains the same at 398 lb-ft at 6500 rpm. With just two wheels tasked with putting all that power to good use, finding adequate traction may be a challenge, which is perhaps why Lamborghini is quoting what seems like a conservative 060 time of 3.9 seconds for the LP550-2. But this car seems to be less about going quicker than imparting a friskier, tail-happier character to the Gallardo. After all, there are many driversand we suspect that Balboni is among themwho enjoy the particular thrill found only in supercars that feed power only to the rear wheels. The Gallardos transmission has been relocated to the back in the LP550-2, resulting in a 43/57 front-to-rear weight distribution. A 45-percent limited-slip differential has also been fitted, as have bespoke springs, dampers, anti-roll bars, and tires.
Distinct Regalia
The LP550-2 Valentino Balboni will be available starting in September and only as a coupe. All examples, regardless of color, will have a white-and-gold stripe running down the center of the car. Dark gray wheels conceal one of three coordinated brake caliper colors. The cabin features swaths of black leather and contrasting white details, as well as an all-white center console. Now officially retired, Balboni travels the world as a Lamborghini brand ambassador. Tough gig, Mr. Balboni, but now you have one fewer excuse for being late for your personal appearances. .. . ..

Carbon-fiber monocoque
The new Lamborghini flagship has a full monocoque. The entire occupant cell, with tub and roof, is one single physical component. This ensures extreme rigidity and thus outstanding driving precision, as well as an extremely high level of passive safety for the driver and his passenger. The entire monocoque weighs only 147.5 kilograms (325.18 lb). The monocoque, together with the front and rear Aluminium frames, features an impressive combination of extreme torsional stiffness of 35,000 Newton meters per degree and weighs only 229.5 kilograms (505.9 lb).
ISR gearbox much lighter, it also has smaller dimensions than a conventional manual unit - both key elements in the field of lightweight engineering for super sports cars.
Pushrod suspension
Lamborghini has equipped its new V12 super sports car with an innovative and highly sophisticated suspension concept. The pushrod spring and damper concept was inspired by Formula 1 and tuned perfectly to meet the needs of a high-performance road-going vehicle. Together with aluminum double wishbone suspension and a carbon-fiber ceramic brake system, this lightweight chassis represents a further aspect of the new flagship's unique technology concept.
A Lamborghini should always fit perfectly with the style and preferences of its owner. To this end, the range of individualization options is virtually inexhaustible. There is a selection of 13 production paint colors to choose from, three of which are highly sophisticated matt tones. A choice of two-tone interiors are offered with the "Sportivo" and "Elegante" versions, while a premium audio system and reversing camera are among the many technology options. And of course, the "Ad Personam" individualization program knows no limits when it comes to colors and materials.

Distinctive design refinements ensure that each of this 350-unit limited edition series conveys its full potential from the very first glance. With its outstanding performance, razor-sharp precision and exceptional high-speed stability, the Lamborghini Murcilago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is the ultimate performance car for advanced sports car drivers. The super sports car has been extensively redesigned with a new front and rear, an innovative engine bonnet and a choice of two aerodynamic set-ups featuring either a small or large rear spoiler. The interior in Alcantara and carbon fiber provides a purist and minimalist approach.
In order to achieve the substantial weight reduction of 100 kilograms (220 lbs), the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SuperVeloce was extensively reworked and redeveloped in virtually every aspect - from chassis to engine and transmission, right through to the interior. The increase in engine output from 640 to 670 hp is the result of optimized valve timing and a reworked intake system. The significantly modified aerodynamics with substantially increased downforce brings considerable improvement to vehicle stability at very high speeds. With the small standard-fit rear spoiler, top speed stands at 342 km/h (212 mph), while the large "Aeropack Wing" and its added downforce gives a top speed of 337 km/h (209 mph).

The aerodynamics of the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SuperVeloce have been completely redeveloped. Alongside the enlarged front spoiler and the twin rear diffuser, the new fixed rear spoiler also plays an important role. Customers can choose between two versions, with the small rear spoiler providing improved downforce at high speeds. As an option, the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SV can be supplied with the "Aeropack Wing" - a large, fixed, carbon-fiber wing mounted on two carbon-fiber brackets. The new aerodynamic set-up provides a significant boost to directional stability at the very highest speeds. The top speed downforce on the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SuperVeloce with Aeropack is strongly increased.
The longitudinally mounted 6.5 liter V12 delivers the infernal power for an unparalleled driving experience. With 670 hp (493 kW), the engine in the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SuperVeloce is 30 hp more powerful than in the Murcilago LP 640. The twelve-cylinder sends its mighty 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque to the crankshaft at 6,500 rpm; maximum power is reached at 8,000 rpm, with an average piston speed of 23.7 meters per second - a figure almost comparable to race engines. The V12 is eager to deliver its performance - it brings its menacing power with immediacy and precision to guarantee breathtaking performance - after only 3.2 seconds the SuperVeloce has already reached 100 km/h (62 mph). The engine block and heads of the V12, positioned at the ideal cylinder angle of 60 degrees, are made from aluminum. The four chain-driven camshafts are variably controlled, while the intake manifold operates in three stages - both technologies add even greater thrust to the merciless pushing power. To increase the performance of the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SV, the intake system was modified, the valve train optimized and, most importantly, valve travel was increased. The control electronics for the V12 were developed internally by Lamborghini - each cylinder bank has its own high-performance processor. If the engine needs more cooling air, intake funnels emerge from the rear pillars: when not in operation, they lie flush with the bodyshell. Dry sump lubrication enables the V12 to be mounted extremely low down, benefiting the handling dynamics: this also guarantees oil supply under extremely dynamic driving conditions. With 12 liters of lubricating oil in circulation, the oil cooler is located on the left side of the vehicle and cooled by air flowing through the aperture in the sill. The weight reduction of more than 26 kg (57 lbs) in the engine area was derived primarily from the completely new exhaust system. The muffler has been redesigned and even the mighty tailpipe of the SuperVeloce manufactured from new materials is lighter than on the Murcilago LP 640. But most of all, the new exhaust system makes for an acoustic experience that is surely equal to the driving performance - from the heavy rumble of a stormy night, through the trumpeting of mighty elephants to the roar of a raging lion, the Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SuperVeloce performs the grand opera for 12 cylinders, 48 valves and 8,000 revs. The Lamborghini Murcilago LP670-4 SV is equipped as standard with the sequential, automated manual transmission e.gear, which uses electro-hydraulics to shift gear extremely quickly
and smoothly. A cockpit display informs the driver of the gear currently engaged. In addition a special "Corsa" mode and a "Low adherence" mode are available. As a no-premium option, the SuperVeloce is available with a six-speed manual transmission. Its short metal shift stick runs in an open gate of classic Italian elegance. In both variants, the new lightweight clutch makes its own contribution to the weight loss program.
The new version of this highly successful super-sports car features considerable innovations in terms of body design and mechanics. And also with a new name: Lamborghini Murcilago LP640, which refers to its engine position longitudinale posteriore - and to its power 640 hp. Designers and engineers have not only focused on reworking the engine, suspensions, gearbox, exhaust
system, brakes and electronics, but also the interior and exterior design; improvements that make the Lamborghini Murcilago LP640 the most extreme and fastest sports car in its class, placing it at the very top.
Unmistakable Design
In their reinterpretation of the Lamborghini Murcilago LP640, the designers at the Lamborghini Style Centre have remained true to the traditional Lamborghini principles of purism, sport and function. The Lamborghini Murcilago LP640 now appears even more aggressive, with the new front and rear bumpers contributing significantly to its appearance. The exhaust system terminal has been incorporated in the diffuser on the rear bumper. Other innovations include the rear lights, which enhance the distinguishing features of the Lamborghini Murcilago LP640, making it unmistakable even at night. The design of the sides is also worth mentioning: while the area behind the air intake on the right side is practically closed, the left side features a vast aperture for cooling the oil radiator. Together with the aerodynamically defined front and rear, this proves yet again that the shape of a Lamborghini is dictated by function.
For those wishing to flaunt the heart of their Lamborghini Murcilago LP640, on request an engine hood made of transparent glass can be supplied. The rear
view mirrors and the windscreen wipers have been modified to improve aerodynamics and "Hermera" light metal wheel rims have been added. The graphics of the instrument panel lights in the cockpit have been revamped. The interior upholstery also has a new look thanks to the lozenge-shaped stitching.

Driving, handling and stability at high speed are enhanced by new springs and stabilisers, as well as by a redesigned electronically controlled damper. The "antidive" and "anti-squat" features on the axles, which efficiently prevent socalled "brake diving" and "squatting", have not been changed. The two springs on every rear wheel, the single spring on every front wheel and the damper are placed coaxially. The new aluminium "Hermera" rims measure 8 " x 18" (fore carriage) and 13" x 18" (rear axle). The vehicle can be fitted with various sized Pirelli P Zero "Rosso" tyres. The Lamborghini Murcilago LP640 features 245/35 ZR 18 front tyres and 335/30 ZR 18 rear tyres. For sports use, especially on racetracks, Lamborghini provides optional Pirelli P Zero "Corsa" (Race) tyres. Pirelli P "Sottozero" (Sub zero) winter tyres are currently being developed.

The Lamborghini Murcilago LP640 Roadster benefits from the same extensive modifications to the bodywork and mechanics as the LP640 Coup, as well as delivering its own distinct character.
From its forerunner, the Lamborghini Murcilago Roadster LP640 has inherited the characteristic asymmetrical interior arrangement. The whole interior is tailored to the driver and arranged in such a way that a true driver-focused experience is offered; a car which challenges yet at the same time is entirely geared to the driver. This is illustrated in the use of perforated leather for the chair cushions, the dashboard tunnel console and the door lining on the driver's side. The instrument panel has also been redesigned with different display graphics. This includes a new Kenwood car radio with a 6.5 inch widescreen monitor and reader for DVD, MP3 and WMA. The navigation system (standard equipment in Japan) is also available as an option. Like its predecessor, the Murcilago LP640 Roadster can be customised through special equipment packages. The 'ad personam' individualisation program offers even more scope to create a personal, unmistakeably individual sports car.
Naturally the Lamborghini Murcilago meets all the current valid European and North American emission standards. The increased power naturally leads to increased road performance. The maximum speed now lies at 330 km/h compared to 320 km/h. The standard sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is now reached by the Murcilago LP640 Roadster in an excellent 3.4 seconds making it 0.4 seconds faster than its forerunner. The engineers also focused their attention on optimising the torque band. The driveability of the engine thus benefits from the use of a continually variable timing system (intake and exhaust side) and engine management with Driveby-Wire-System. In order to meet the increased thermal requirements of the engine, the engineers built a larger oil cooler. On the exterior this is illustrated by a larger air inlet on the left wing of the vehicle. The liquid cooler on the other hand remains unchanged with the Lamborghini VASC System (variable geometry air inlet system). Additional electronically controlled air scoops open according to the outside temperature and cool air requirement. This guarantees maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
The new aluminium Hermera rims measure 8 " x 18" at the front and 13" x 18" at the rear. The vehicle is equipped with mixed tyres of the type PIRELLI P Zero "ROSSO": the Murcilago LP640 Roadster is driven at the front on tyres with the dimensions 245/35 ZR 18 and 335/30 ZR 18 at the rear. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres are available as an option: particularly appropriate for use on race tracks.

This makes the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento a unique demonstration of the technological expertise of Automobili Lamborghini. Innovative carbon-fiber technologies are being used here for the first time in an automotive application. As a 100 percent subsidiary of Audi AG, the Italian carmaker also benefits from the undisputed expertise of the German manufacturer when it comes to lightweight construction. With its amazing output of 570 hp, sensational power-to-weight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per hp and 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration of only 2.5 seconds, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento guarantees unparalleled driving fun. At the same time, fuel consumption also drops because of the extreme lightweight engineering applied throughout.
The name of this technology demonstrator is derived from the periodic table, where carbon is classified as the sixth element. Thus, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento demonstrates the worldwide leading expertise of Lamborghini in carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) technology. The super sports car brand from Sant'Agata Bolognese is the only vehicle manufacturer in the world to have mastered the complete CFRP process across a range of technologies, from 3D design through simulation, validation, production and testing - all in a stateof-the-art industrial process that stands for the very highest quality standards.
Lamborghini drives the technology development in its two research centers the ACRC (Advanced Composite Research Center) and the ACSL (Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory) through collaborations with organizations such as Boeing, with the resulting technology secured under a host of patents. "The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento shows how the future of the super sports car can look - extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun. On a Lamborghini, every single line has a clear function; the two vertical ribs at the front, for example, improve the stiffness of the component and guide the cooling air directly to the radiator behind them and to the brakes. This guarantees the thermal wellbeing of the components even under the toughest race track conditions. The cooling air flows through two red triangular openings in the hood beneath the front windscreen and through large outlets in the side panels behind the front wheels. Sharply cut headlamp units complete the front end. Reduction is the name of the game here, too - alongside the bi-xenon lamps, there are four LEDs in each unit. The low front end looks incredibly dominant, with the partially double-lipped front spoiler pushed way out front and distinctively formed air intakes.
Perfect aerodynamics
The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento's rear overhang is extremely short and, again, defined by optimum aerodynamics. The generously dimensioned spoiler is perfectly matched to the diffuser and a further air deflector in the center, thus guaranteeing maximum downforce for extreme cornering speeds and excellent high-speed directional stability. The Pyrosic tailpipes are directed upwards
through the engine cover panel, which also incorporates ten hexagonal openings and two air scoops behind the roof for delivering fresh air to the V10 power plant.
The controls are presented in a highly concentrated format. The instruments provide information primarily on engine and road speed, as well as all parameters relating to engine condition. Only three piezoelectric buttons grace the center console - one to start the engine, one to shift into reverse gear and another one for the lights.
Based on the form, function and operational demands of the individual Sesto Elemento components, engineers from Lamborghini's R&D selected largely from three CFRP manufacturing techniques within their technology tool kit: * Forged Composite: Here, materials with short carbon fibers are hot pressed in a mould. The process facilitates complex structures and is used for parts such as the underside of the monocoque and the suspension arms. * Prepreg: The carbon-fiber mats are soaked in a thermoset liquid resin. They are pressed in moulds and cured in an oven under heat and pressure. Prepreg components have a very good surface finish and are therefore the preferred choice for use in visible areas. * Braiding: This is a method to manufacture composite filament derived from the textile industry. Each thread is diagonally intertwined on different levels.
The automated system with electronic management shifts smoothly through its six gears much faster than a human being would be able to. Every single kilometer in the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept is sheer fascination - due in part to the relentless traction delivered under practically all conditions. This is largely attributable to the permanent all-wheel drive system. It incorporates a central viscous coupling and a self-locking differential for the rear wheels with 45 percent lock. Thanks to this superior traction, Lamborghini drivers can accelerate earlier out of a curve than those in rear-wheel drive cars.
The Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory (ACSL) at the University of Washington uses experimental tests to define the mechanical behavior of the different materials and technologies using methodology from the aviation industry. The team of research engineers in Seattle works with very specific instruments and methods in close cooperation with the R&D headquarters and the ACRC in Sant'Agata Bolognese. .. .

The Lamborghini Reventn Coup was presented at the 2007 IAA in Frankfurt and was sold out immediately. Open-top sports cars are a tradition at Lamborghini that stretches back over 40 years. In 1968, the company from Sant'Agata Bolognese built a Lamborghini Miura without a fixed roof as a one-off. The Lamborghini Diablo Roadster appeared in 1995 with its targa roof anchored to the engine cover. All Lamborghinis are created with an avantgarde approach to design; a fastmoving technical sculpture. The Lamborghini Reventn Roadster is derived from the same creative thinking as the Coup. Its designers found their inspiration in aviation - the aggressive wedge shape evokes images of fighter jets. The powerful arrowhead form at the front, the mighty air intakes pulled way forward, the broad side skirts, the upwards opening scissor doors and the rear end with its menacing edges - the Roadster is clad in a design of maximum functionality and spectacular clarity. Details set stylish accents, such as headlamps featuring bi-xenon units with LEDs forming the daytime running lights and indicators. The rear lamps are also equipped with LEDs. Like the Coup, the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster measures 4700 mm (185 in.) long. It has a wheelbase of 2665 mm (105 in.) and is 2058 mm (81 in.) wide and 1132 mm (45 in.) high. The driver and passenger seating positions are low and sporty, separated by a substantial central tunnel.
Behind the two seats are two hidden pop-up bars that deploy upwards in just a few hundredths of a second in the event of an imminent rollover. A fixed, horizontal wing-shaped member behind the seats bears the third brake light. The design of the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster's long back is also quite distinct from that of the Coup. The engine bonnet is virtually horizontal and a total of four windows made from glass provide a view of the mighty V12 in all its technical elegance.
Aircraft-style displays
The interior of the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster conveys the same powerful design as the exterior. The cockpit is structured with technical clarity, the interfaces arranged for functionality. Like a modern aircraft, the open two-
seater no longer has classic analogue instrumentation - instead, information is delivered via two transreflective and one transmissive liquid-crystal displays. The driver can switch between two modes at the touch of a button - one digital view with illuminated bars and one level with classic round dials, albeit with changing color graphics. Centrally located at the top of the display is the Gforce meter. It represents the intensity of the forces acting on the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster under acceleration, braking and heavy cornering; the same format used in Formula 1. The instruments are mounted in a casing machined from solid aluminum which is housed in a carbon fiber dashboard. The interior displays uncompromisingly clean craftsmanship and features a host of carbon fiber applications - e.g. on the center tunnel - aluminum, Alcantara and leather. The central panels and the seat cushions are perforated, with precision stitching gracing their outer edges. Lamborghini has equipped the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster with full options.
It reacts with the eagerness of a racing engine to input from the right foot, revving to 8,000 rpm and beyond, and performing a symphony that sends shudders along the spine. The deep booming bass, the powerful mid-range and the exultant horn section play music that, once heard, can never be forgotten.
The open two-seater runs on 18-inch wheels. The front tires measure 245/35, while the rears are 335/30. Dedicated air channels in the bodyshell cool the four wheel brakes. Carbon-fiber ceramic discs are standard - they have an extremely lightweight construction, operate with virtually no fade, are corrosion-free and achieve the highest service life. Each disc has a diameter of 380 mm (~15 in.) and is gripped by six-piston calipers. As fast as the open two-seater may be, its road manners are impeccable. Its performance limits are extremely high, yet effortless to control. And, on exiting a bend, all four wheels stick tenaciously to the asphalt. The permanent allwheel drive dovetails the car firmly with the road, delivering decisive benefits in traction and stability.
High-performance aerodynamics
A further distinctive characteristic of the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster is its calm directional stability even at extremely high speeds - a feature that also turns fast highway stretches into sheer joy. Alongside the bodyshell design and the smooth underbody, which culminates in a powerfully formed diffuser, the rear spoiler carries responsibility for downforce. It deploys from the rear edge at about 130 Km/h (80 mph) and adopts an even steeper angle as of about 220 Km/h (136 mph). The entire aerodynamic concept - around and through the car - is radically laid out for performance.
All units of the Lamborghini Reventn Roadster are being built on the Sant'Agata Bolognese production line, with perfect craftsmanship and to the highest levels of quality.
