so much within a single culture, imagine
the difrences between cultures.

about f!iendship in diferent cultures.

Mead compared notions of friendship in
some Wster countries. She says:

to-one relationship that demands keen
aareness of the 6her person's inteUect,
temperament, and particular interests.
fiend is someone who brings out
your own best qualities."
For French friends, who

lectual issues, disagreement
is "the breath of life." H
ever, Mead notes, "... fr
Gem1ans, whose fiendships
are based on mutuality of
feling, deep disagreement
on any subect that matters
to both i s . . . a tragedy."
