Associate in Computer Technology First Year (First Semester) Eng 11- Communication Skills I COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course

is designed to develop language learning strategies, effective communication technique, academic study skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Lessons and activities involved development of oral communication skills, in different social contexts, reading skills enhancement effective use of reference and resources and writing grammatically correct sentences. Math 11-College Algebra COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course covers set theory, the real numbers system, special products and factoring, algebraic fractions, exponents and radicals, linear and quadratic fractions. The course puts emphasis on the understanding of concepts and the development of manipulative skills. Philo 1- Philosophy of Man COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is an introductory course to the study of philosophy. It includes discussions on the different philosophical ideas from the pre-Socrates to the existentialists. IS Elec 1- Human Computer Interaction COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course is intends to introduce students to the discipline concerned with the design, evaluation & implementation of various computing systems intended for human use. Emphasis will be placed on understanding human behavior with interactive objects, knowing how to develop and evaluate interactive software using a human-centered approach, and general knowledge of HCI design issues with multiple types of interactive applications. CT 11- Keyboarding COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers operation of the computer keyboard and developing basic keyboarding techniques required to develop speed and accuracy on straight copy. Instruction will include the alphabetic keys, numeric keys, and special symbol keys, as well as basic word processing features, including creating and printing a document.

IS 11- Fundamentals of IS COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces students to Information Systems (IS) as a field of academic study. Students are exposed to the scope of IS, the different career paths and the representative capabilities and skills required of any IS graduate. Students are also introduced to concepts and theories that explain or motivate methods and practices in the development and use of information systems in organizations. The concepts and theories will include systems, management, and organization, information, quality, and decision making, relationship of information systems to organizational strategy. This course also provides an introduction to systems and development concepts, information technologies, and application software. It explains how information is used in organizations and how IT enables improvement in quality, timeliness, and competitive advantage. IS 12- Personal Productivity using IS COURSE DESCRIPTION: Being expected to become knowledge workers, students need to see IS technology as a way to enhance their personal productivity. This course provides students an opportunity to enhance their personal productivity and problem solving skills by applying information technologies to problem situations and conceptualizing small information systems for individuals and groups. Emphasis is given on personal productivity concepts using functions and features in common computer applications as spreadsheets, databases, presentation and web authoring. The course should have both a theoretical problem solving component and an equivalent component of structured supervised laboratory experience. The use of local networks and communications technology should be part of the tool set that students will be introduced to. PE 1- Physical Fitness COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course include a wide variety of activities that can be used for physical fitness purposes, providing the students the fundamental understanding the basic body mechanics of gymnastics, stunts and physical fitness exercises.

NSTP 1 ROTC/CWTS COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) is a component of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a course for first year students both males and females designed to help them understand, appreciate and eventually live by the basic concepts of the Student's Transformation and Enrichment for Truth (STET) with the end in view of empowering them into becoming a potent resource for community development.

Associate in Computer Technology First Year (Second Semester) ENG 12 Communication Skills 2 COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides training on goal setting-selfassessment and monitoring skills, time management strategies and communicative competence for general and academic purposes. Lessons and activities emphasize grammar and presentation skills development particularly in an academic setting such as data gathering and interpretation, understanding non-prose forms and presentation of facts and figures. HIST 11 Philippine History COURSE DESCRIPTION: A study of the growth and development of Filipino society from its earliest beginning to the modern period. The developments of political, social, cultural traditions that helped shape the Filipino nation at the different stages of its history are covered. CT 12 Fundamentals of Programming and Problem Solving COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course is designed to prepare students with limited computing background to enter the field of information system. This course introduces students to the essential concepts for logic, design and problem solving skills using a syntax-free graphical simulation tool. Students will then apply their skills by developing complete graphical, event-driven programs using a particular programming language. The emphasis of the course is to learn concepts and techniques that are common to most programming languages in developing business solutions. This course will be taught using both lecture and hands-on lab component. CT 13 Computer Systems and Organization COURSE DESCRIPTION: The study on computer organization and interfaces between hardware and software. Microcomputer Systems: Basic computer organization, memory addressing, CPU-memory I/O relationships, interfacing, interrupt mechanisms. Architecture topics in computer system organization from a designers point of view; multiprocessing, pipelining, array processors, associative processors, microprogramming, techniques for increasing primary memory bandwidths; modularization, interleaving, access path widening, cache and associative memories; virtual memory, bus structures multiprogramming and time sharing organizations; network principles and protocols; distributed resources. CT 14 Systems/Information Management COURSE DESCRIPTION: This focuses on the study of information as a comparative advantage in the business world through the use of information systems. Topics include DPS, DSS, MIS, Real-time and Expert systems which are used for supporting operations and decisionmaking functions. IS 13 Networks and Internet Technology COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides an in-depth knowledge of data communications and networking requirements including networking and telecommunications technologies, hardware, and software. Emphasis is upon the analysis and design of networking applications in organizations. Management of telecommunications networks, cost-benefit analysis, and evaluation of connectivity options are covered. Students learn to evaluate, select, and implement different communication options within an organization. PE 2 Rhythmic Activities COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Applies practical skills at understanding the rudiments of folk dancing from the raw material of published and unpublished dances. Analysis of dance instructions and technical interpretations from the written materials are underscore. Emphasis is given to valuing the context of the dance as the basis for interpreting dance movements with underpinnings of preserving the legacy of Filipino heritage. NSTP 2 ROTC/CWTS COURSE DESCRIPTION: NSTP 2 involves 2 kinds of activities. The first consist of campus based activities including orientation activities, processing and reflection activities, and others. The second involves community based insertions/training and other activities held in the area. Lit. 1 - Philippine Literature COURSE DESCRIPTION: The study of literary forms or genres, exemplified this time by selected literary texts form in the Philippines written during different historical periods Physics 1 - Mechanics and Heat COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of mechanics. It covers vectors, equilibrium, rectilinear and rotational motion. Newtons Laws, work, energy, impulse, and momentum. POL. SCI. 1 Politics & Governance w/ Philippine Constitution COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course focuses on the study of the evolution of the political institutions in the Philippines. This also includes the study on the constitution of the Philippines and the problem related to this fundamental law of the land. CT 15 - Applications Development COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students who have completed the analysis and logical design course will extend their knowledge by implementing an information system in an emerging systems environment. Teams will use project management principles to implement an information system. This course covers physical design and implementation of information systems applications. Implementation in emerging distributed computing environments using traditional and contemporary development methodologies. Students will utilize a contemporary development environment to implement a project that spans the scope of the pre-requisite courses. Object-oriented programming and methods and some

procedural methods will be employed. Implementation standards should be developed by the students and used rigorously as project teams complete a significant system. Project management tools should be used to ensure timely completion of the project. Interdependence skills should be practiced and evaluated. Towards the end of the course, students will be expected to present a complete and working business application. This is not a course that will teach a particular programming language. Students are expected to learn and use development technologies in order to develop the project for the course. CT 16 - Graphic Design I COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of Graphic Design. Through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on projects, group critiques, and individual discussions, students will study the expressive use of text and image to convey a message and create unique, effective, and innovative graphic design solutions. CT 17 - Discrete Mathematics COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers logic, set theory, graph theory, binary logic, combinatorics and algorithms. IS 14 - File and Object Structures w/ Algorithm COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces fundamental algorithms and data structures in the framework of objects and classes using Java as the programming language. Fundamental dynamic data structures, including linear lists, queues, trees, and other linked structures; arrays strings, and hash tables. Abstract data types. Algorithms for sorting and searching. PE 3 - Individual / Dual Sports COURSE DESCRIPTION: It covers the acquisition of knowledge and skills basic to individual and dual sports.

The course aims to bring about a better understanding of the different types of human behavior. It also focuses on how man interacts with his environment. FILIPINO 12 - Pagbabasat Pagsusulat ng Iba't-Ibang Disiplina COURSE DESCRIPTION: Ang kursong ito ay nagbibigay-focus sa pagbabasa at pagsulat sa mga pangangailangang akademik at instrumento sa pagkatuto. Pag-aaralan ang mga estratehiya sa kritikal na pagbasa ng iba't ibang genre ng nakasulat (maging naririnig) na textong pang-agham pantao. To Economics w/ Taxation & Land COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introduction to the rudiments of economic analysis, principles and policy. General topics include aspects of the market system, introduction of the national income accounts, the financial system, government finances, foreign trade, growth and development. A general study of the basic principles of income and business taxation, agrarian reform, the general principles of obligations and contacts and current topics such as population control are also served. PHYSICS 2 Electricity and Magnetism COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course serves as an introduction to the electric circuits. Topics includes techniques for DC and AC circuit analysis such as nodal analysis, mesh analysis, source transformation, superposition, Thevenins theorem and Nortons theorem. Database Management System COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course covers the different architecture of the relational, hierarchical and network models. Other topics to be covered are the design database, analysis of data and the different management issues of security, integrity, concurrency control and recovery. A discussion on distributed databases is also included. Business Processes COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course is designed for information management students who need to have an overview of generic business processes. They will learn how to describe, analyze, and redesign a business process through the use of tools and methodologies. IS 16 - System Analysis and Design COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is a study of different phases of information systems development. Discussions will concentrate of the initiation, analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of a system and the different tools used in systems analysis and design. This course strikes a balance between the theoretical and applied aspects of system analysis, presenting state-of-the-art system procedures, methodology and software. These skills are applied by allowing the students to experience analyzing and designing a live system for outside clients. GRAPHIC DESIGN II COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of a trainee/student on core competencies such as; Develop design studies, Create vector graphics using a graphics application, Create raster graphics using a graphics application, Develop designs for print media, Develop designs for electronic media, Develop designs for product packaging, Design designs for booth and product/window display in accordance with the industry standards. It includes common competencies such as; Apply Quality Standards, Perform Computer Operations. IS 15 - Business Organization and Management COURSE DESCRIPTION: A general survey of business, with an analysis of business enterprise elements and functions. A fundamental consideration is also made of the various areas of business specialization. PE 4 - Team Sports and Games

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides playing skills and performance in volleyball, softball and basketball sport events. Built-in developmental skills necessary for instructional purposes such as lead-up game, low organized game activities and modified games leading to sports. Introduction of coaching and officiating of each event is encouraged.

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems THIRD YEAR (First Semester) Eng 13 - Technical Writing/Communications for IT (3 units) COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course aims to teach students how to communicate technical information in writing to different types of audience. It will cover the use of various effective writing techniques and styles as well as appropriate models, diagrams and pictures/graphs. Animation COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of a student on TESDA core competencies such as Produce Cleaned-up and In-betweened Drawings, Produce Key Drawings for Animation, Create 2D Digital Animation and Use an Authoring Tool to Create an Interactive Sequence in accordance with the industry standards in accordance with the industry standards. It includes also common competencies such as Apply Quality Standards, Perform Computer Operations and basic competencies such as Participate in Workplace Communication, Work in a Team Environment, Practice Career Professionalism and Practice Occupational Health and Safety Procedures. Literature 2 Intro. To World Literature COURSE DESCRIPTION: World Literature is designed to expose students to perspectives that differ from their own culture, ultimately leading them to a deeper understanding of other cultures and the works that represent them. An emphasis will be placed on writing, speaking, and research elements. Therefore, students will thematically study, analyze, interpret, & critique various genres of literature and other media based on the historical and cultural context of the author and his/her culture.

Software and Information Engineering COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides an overview of the software engineering process and discusses the various software engineering techniques, methods and tools which can be used in the implementation of strategic systems development. Topics include requirement analysis, analysis modeling, software design fundamentals, software testing, quality assurance, quality processes and software maintenance. Principles of objectoriented programming, programming languages, object-oriented modeling and ethical issues in the IT field are also discussed. Web Design and Development COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers various web design concepts and techniques that will allow students to design, build and create effective, interactive and dynamic web applications.

Project Management and Quality Systems COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course examines project management roles and environments, the project life cycle and various techniques of work planning, and control and evaluation to achieve project objectives. The tools currently available to project managers are discussed throughout this course. Topics include project management concepts, project organizational structures and behaviors, applied project planning, resource allocation, cost estimating and budgeting, project performance management control and project evaluation and termination. It also provides insight in management of cross-functional projects where the students will learn the value of aligning a project's goals and objectives with the organization's goals and objectives. It studies the nature of cross-functional projects and project teams, and how project teams are used to accomplish continuous improvement and to significantly change the organization. This course covers also the total quality management concept and principles and the various tools available to achieve total quality management. Quality improvement techniques are then introduced. A brief review of fundamentals of statistics and probability and their applications in quality control is provided. System Infrastructure and Integration Planning COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course examines information technology trends and use in the context of modern business organizations. Emphasis is placed on the integration of a wide assortment of information system applications that support: a) management decision making; b) organizational communications; and c) business processes. Students will obtain an understanding of emerging hardware and software technologies, evaluation tools for justifying the development of new systems, methodologies for designing and managing systems development projects, and implementation approaches. This course also describes the relationship between the organizations roles and goals and the IT infrastructure, the 2-tier and 3-tier infrastructure, the network area storage (NAS) and storage area networks (SAN) and the seven ilities that must take into consideration with every project. IT Audit and Control COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course explores organizational and managerial issues relevant to planning and conducting IT audit and control activities. The course covers the following conceptual areas: business risks and the management of business risk, IT risk as a component of business risk, the need to manage IT risks, and the basic type of controls required in a business system in order to control IT risks. Issues associated with new risks created by the use of the internet for business applications and electronic businesses are also covered.

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Third Year (Second Semester) ACCTNG. 1 Fundamentals of Accounting COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course covers basic accounting principles and procedures whose application is confined to a service type of business in a single proprietorship form of business organization. ICT Project Research Method COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course aims at introducing the base concepts and methods of scientific research. The students will be guided on issues such as preparation of technical papers, preparation of the thesis, intellectual property, ethical principles in science, and research roadmapping and management. Finally, the preparation of a research project proposal is also exercised. Evaluation of Business Performance COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course is intended to provide the student with the experience in assessing information systems and the different tools to be used in conducting system evaluation. It will discuss topics such as Data warehousing, KPI/KRA, business intelligence, and quality metrics. IS 12 Advanced Database Management Systems COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course concentrates on advanced topics on database security, integrity, concurrency control and recovery. Topics also

include distributed databases, object-oriented database and client-server technology. IS 16 Deployment of M.I.S. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduces the business applications of information technology. Evaluates the operating characteristics and organizational implications of business information systems from the viewpoint of management. Discusses strategic information planning, organizational change, systems-based decision making, and preliminary methodologies for systems analysis. Examines recent developments in information systems.

IS 23 Management of Technology COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course provides an in-depth study on the management of information technology as it is being practiced in organizations today. It will cover topics such as network, IT infrastructure, IT organization, data resources and systems, among others. E-Commerce COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course examines the history of the Internet and its influence on E-Commerce; the validity of E-Commerce, and why it is increasingly being integrated into the business model. It also covers the fundamental business concepts as they relate to ECommerce, such as customer relationship management; eprocurement; security and staffing issues; planning; metric identification techniques for measuring the success of ECommerce initiatives; marketing strategies on the World Wide Web; and information on E-Commerce software, hardware, and service providers. Multimedia Systems COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course equips the IT student with the skills to develop interactive multimedia applications which combine audio, video, text, animation, and still images that can be delivered from CDROM to LAN, from Internet to the Intranet.

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Fourth Year (First Semester) Internship/Practicum COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is the application of knowledge gain from the previous academic years in the actual field under the supervision of an experienced professional and the practicum coordinator. Student will experience the real office scenario and gain practical training on office-related tasks particularly those that are related to Information System. The student could also contribute to the work place as Junior IT professional. The student works in an office/agency/institution with its information systems for 320 hrs to gain practical training in one of the varied aspects of information and computer technology.

Capstone I COURSE DESCRIPTION: A course requiring a more defined system specifications and preliminary design of the capstone project. As a completion of this course, the groups (usually composed of 3-4 members) are required to present the complete functional prototype of the capstone project to a panel. Ethics & Social Responsibilities in the IT Profession COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Studies business ethics and social responsibility, which aims at developing reasonable moral standards of business and IT Profession. This course explores the process of determining what is and what is not a reasonable standard of moral conduct. It teaches students the process of problem solving used to resolve any situation in which there is real or potential harm to an individual or group. Students will learn the process of ethical reasoning. They will also learn to think about ethical dimensions of real-life situations and apply a reasoning process to determine appropriate actions particularly in the IT profession.

Seminars and Field Trips COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course involves the attendance and participation of BSIS graduating students in technical seminars, workshops to the fields of Information Systems and related technology. Students are also required to attend non-technical seminars and training for the enhancement of their personality. It also involves short lectures on current trends and recent development in the area of Information Systems and Technology. It further includes educational visits to selected companies.

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Fourth Year (Second Semester) Capstone II COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is all about the culminating project that incorporates the knowledge and skills that the IS students have developed during their stay in the college. The project is the demonstration/manifestation that the group (same group from Capstone 1) developed an integrated understanding of their major field of study and that they can apply the necessary information and communications (ICT) tools and in so doing, generate new knowledge. In preparing the project, they will be guided by an adviser and towards the end of the term; they will have to defend their project to a panel. Free Elective Emerging Technologies in Information and Communications Technology COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces students to the various trends in computing and latest inventions and innovations related to ICT and its uses. This also covers introduction of skills in any new software/technology.
