No hours: L L P Ps Course goals: To know basic components of pneumatic and hydraulic drive systems: their functions, symbols, and nomenclature. To acquire practical skills in the analysis, design, and assembly of simple and complex pneumatic drive and control systems. Didactic methods: Multimedia aided lecture. Design projects at the laboratory test stands. Grading criteria: Lecture written exam. Laboratories short tests before each laboratory and the grading of the final reports for all excercises. Subject contents: Lecture Properties, production and conditioning of work fluids. Pneumatic and hydraulic systems a comparison. Symbols of pneumatics and hydraulics. Components of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Fluid actuators: types, structure, selection rules, maintenance. Discharge valves: types, structure, principles of operation. Pressure and flow control valves. Fluid conditioning, distribution and storing components. Basic subsystems of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems. Design of pneumatic systems. Components of electropneumatic and electrohydraulic control systems. Examples of practical applications of pneumatic and hydraulic drive systems. Laboratory Basic components of pneumatic drive and control systems symbols, principles of operation. Design of pneumatic systems controlling various parameters of piston motion. Application of logic control valves. Design and assembly of complex pneumatic control systems: combinatorial and sequential. Application of pneumatic relay and counter valves.
