Eucharistic Adoration with Holy Hour Friday October 7th


On Friday, October 7, Eucharistic Adoration will be held in the church starting after the 12:10 PM Mass and conclude with Holy Hour from 8 to 9 PM. You may bring your own prayer books, read the Bible, silently pray the rosary, or just sit and relax and enjoy the sweet peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of God. All are welcome whether you come alone or with family or with a friend. Thank you for signing the attendance book which will be placed on the table at the entrance of the church closest to the rectory.

If you volunteer at the Academy, with the Scouts, the CYO, as a Catechist or any other ministry which works with children you are required by the Archdiocese to attend the Protecting Gods Children class. This class will help you to be alert to the signs of children being abused, and of the behavior of people who might be a threat to them. Everyone, particularly parents, can benefit from this information. To make this easier, we are offering this two-hour class here at Our Lady of Peace as listed below. On Saturday October 15, 2011, Catholics from Isabell Lyn Hammeke thousands of communities across the country will gather to pray the Holy Rosary at 12:00 noon. Rosary Altar Society ews


The Rosary Altar Society will hold its first general meeting of the season on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The guest speaker will be Anita Egan, a representative from the Seeing Eye Organization in Morristown, NJ. She will be bringing Camper, an outreach Seeing Eye Dog. Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.

Weekend Retreat
Loyola House of Retreats, the Jesuit Retreat, in Morristown, offers a time to relax, away from business problems and family worries, a time to reflect and get a fresh slant on your life, a time to pray, to reawaken a sense of he reality of God, and to grow in the precious gift of faith. The men of OLP are invited to join their brothers in Christ on retreat the weekend of October 1416. Fr. Steve Pugliese will offer reflections on the theme Serenity. Cooking for Our Priests


Thanks to all who have been cooking, but we could use more volunteers.

Because the rectory no longer employs a cook, Fr. Bill is asking parishioners to help by cooking meals for Frs Bill, Join us on Monday evening October 17th at Charlie and Philip on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesday of 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall for an evening of each week. If you would like to help cook well-balanced, prayer and reflection. Healing the Grieving Heart: The Journey after the Death of a Loved One
The Church of the Little Flower in Berkeley Heights offers a bereavement support group that meet twice a year for eight weeks. This fall we will meet from 7:309:00 p.m. on Sundays starting through November 20th. Any and all are welcome to join us. The group will meet at the Parish Center, 110 Roosevelt Ave. Room 2-H. Bowlers eeded
The Knights of Columbus are looking from men and women to bowl this season at Plaza Lanes in Madison. The league bowls on Sundays, twice a month from 6:008:30 p.m. from September through early May. This is a great way to meet new people an get out for fun and exercise. At the end of season banquet, teams and individuals are awarded cash prizes and we all enjoy a lovely evening out. Journey through Grief into Hope


St. Teresas parish in Summit will be hosting a six week Bereavement Series on Tuesday evenings 7:309:00 p.m. beginning October 4th. If you or someone you know is grieving now, no matter how long ago the loss occurred, you might find deeper peace through the Journey. Sometimes it is harder to talk with a family member, because they also are in pain. If you cannot attend the entire series, drop in whenever you can. The Holy Mass 101 is a lecture series intended for all parishioners, confirmation age and older. The format of the course is DVD lectures followed by a brief group discussion, depending on the option chosen.

Ministry Fair
When: October 1 and 2, 2011 after all Masses in our auditorium

What is it: It is a forum for a dedicated group of volunteers devoted to providing a spirit of community and service to Our Lady of Peace Parish. Each of the ministries is divided into four major clusters: Community, Worship, Word and Service Purpose: Provides an opportunity for the full parish community to become acquainted with the various parish ministries, the work they perform and the chance to participate in one or more of these ministries. We invite you all to stop in for some refreshments and see the wonderful work of each of these ministries. P.S. there will be something special for the little ones.

We had a wonderful turnout for both clubs in September. If you were not able to make it, come check out the events in October. OLP High School Youth Ministry events are open to all high school aged young people. The ministry strives to cultivate an environment where: participants can meet new people and develop solid friendships; gain a greater self-knowledge and sense of ones talents and abilities; and ultimately grow in our experience of Jesus love, strengthened in our efforts to become the person we were created to be. The ministry offers a variety of programs to reach the variety of individuals in our parish. Throughout the year, the youth ministry team and staff will be offering numerous service opportunities, community building gatherings, sporting events, monthly youth Masses, prayer services, leadership training, and other special events.
