This document describes initialization and functionality of Remote Monitoring
System for ACU, and how to use it in user applications. The remote control and
monitor functions, which is in a Windows based PC via dial-up USB interface
port. If the ACU is connected to a PC, it can remote control and monitoring by
communicating remotely with PC loaded with the RMS software package. In
addition, RMS software is with the following features.

Applied in Local Access (USB).

Complete monitoring and control to ACU & Rectifier.

Being Suitable for all ACU.

Being with User-friendly Interface.

Battery Management.

INSTALL AND UNINSTALL RMS SOFTWARE


This chapter describes how to install and uninstall the RMS software under
Windows Operation System. Please follow the steps below to start.

2.1

System Requirements
The following minimum configuration is required to run RMS Software.

2.2

PC-compatible Pentium class system

Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP (Strong suggestion Windows XP)

Microsoft Office 2000 or above. (Strong suggestion Microsoft Office 2003)

64 MB memory (128MB recommended)

45 MB of hard disk space

Install ARMS
Follow the configuration below to install the software.

Copy the driver

Copy the compression file to C:\


And release to C:\

Connection
Use USB cable (Series A plug to Series mini B plug type) to connected PC
with ACU.

Uninstall

Click on Start>Settings> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs.

Choose ARMS.

Click on Remove icon to remove ARMS Software.

GET START ARMS SOFTWARE


This section will describe how to get start the RMS software, including what
components should be prepared, menu and toolbar functions.

3.1

SYSTEM Components
In addition to PC whose operation system is Windows, the following
components are required:

RMS Software-installed on the PC to control and monitor Telecom Power


System.

USB cable, Series A plug to Series B plug, for remote connection To


connect the PC.

RMS Toolbar
This is a listing of RMS menus and Toolbar. You can achieve your desired
function either by clicking toolbar.

Explanation of connection field


Below is the explanation of connection field.

Direct Connection with USB cable


ARMS can be direct connecting to ACU with USB cable. Refer to the figure
below.

Boost charge stop criterion setting:

Periodic boost charge count down timer:

Count down when the Periodic Mode enable

The timer will be count down automatically when the Periodic Mode function
enable.

Battery Estimation Capacity display:


Battery Estimation Capacity

The Estimation Cap show in the ARMS is indicate the immediately battery
remaining capacity. The ACU is able to count the battery capacity automatically
through battery charge/discharge * t to counting the battery immediately
capacity.

5.3

Alarm Parameter Setting


Alarm/Relay parameter can be setting on this screen.

Function include:
DCV Alarm threshold setting
Battery temperature Alarm threshold setting
Major/Minor Alarm definition
Relay 1~6 definition

Others

5.5.1

System Information
System information is display on the top left side of the screen for monitoring
the status of the system.

5.5.2

Manual Charge Button


Manual charge button is located on the left side of the screen (beneath the
system information). Click the button; the system will start to charge to the
battery.

5.5.3

Battery Test Button


Battery test button is located on the left side of the screen (beneath the manual
charge button). Click the button; the system will start the battery capacity test
function.

5.5.4

Alarm/Event List
Alarm/Event list area is located on the left side of the screen (beneath the
battery test button). It can list current Alarms/Events.
Technician can through the RMS (user software) to clear the current
Alarm/Event. But the controller will issue the Alarm/Event if the system still had
failure condition after through the RMS to clear them.

5.5.5

Connection Port
The connection port area is located on the left bottom side of the screen. It can
select to PC connecting port from COM0 to COM99.

5.5.6

How to change the parameter setting


Use the following procedure to change any parameter settings:

For example: Change the Floating voltage


1. Move the cursor to mark the Floating voltage value:

2. Key in the new Floating voltage value, for example 54.0

Key in 54.0

3. Press Enter, to save the new Floating voltage value to controller

4. Success!! The Floating voltage is change to 54.0V

P.S: Any parameter settings modified must press Enter after key in the new
value, to save the new settings to controller
