What was your favorite thing about playing your sport(s)? In football, I liked being part of a team and the camaraderie, same for lacrosse. For wrestling, I liked knowing that my success or failure was solely based on my effort. I didn't have anyone else to blame if I made a mistake. What is your favorite thing about coaching? I like sharing the knowledge I received from my coaches and role models with the next generation of kids and athletes. Also, I feel that you build a strong relationship with your players and can set a good example for them. What is your favorite memory from coaching here at Reservoir? How long have you been coaching at Reservoir (and how long you've been teaching here)? 8 years for both. What was your favorite thing about playing your sport(s)? Soccer was my weakest sport, but I probably loved playing it the most. I think the kind of discipline it takes to never let down over the course of 80/90 minutes is something that is unique about it. One goal can be the difference and if you let down for a second you can lose. I think its the only sport you can dominate a game for 90% of the time and still come out with a loss. Most of the other sports, the talent can win out for you, but with soccer thats not always the case. What is your favorite thing about coaching? Building relationships with the student athletes. One of the things that I love is staying in touch with students as they move on. I want them to take something from whatever it is that I am doing. Whether or not its my philosophy, discipline, teamwork, or the importance of success and competition. Persevering through all the tough times. Its a proud moment of mine when I have my former players come back and wish us good luck and I see them succeed in whatever it is that they are doing. What is your favorite memory from coaching here at Reservoir? The last two years coaching soccer. All of it is a great memory. Of course the obvious answer is winning states, but I was just as proud as the team that laid the groundwork to get there. Breaking down the mental barriers to get there is just as hard as the game itself. Its not easy going two years in a row to a state final, so I think the last 2 years have been unbelievable.
