God Says No
Introduction God always answers our prayers, true or false? All of us here are asking the Lord for one thing or another. Think of what you are praying for now. How long have you been praying about it, 20 years, 5 months, several days? Have you received what you are asking for? Most of you have not received what they ask for. Can we say that God answers all prayers? Gods Thoughts and Ways are Not Mans Thoughts and Ways You are right in saying that God answers all prayers. Sometimes His answer is Yes; sometimes No; most of the time Wait. We might not have received what we asked for in the manner we expected it, but it an answer nonetheless. Like a woman praying for 25 years that her husband would reform and turn his back on his vices; God seems to be telling her, wait a little longer, time will come that he will stop drinking and gambling because time will come that he will die (he he). Let us focus our attention to why God answers us with a No to what we think is good for us. We do not receive some of our prayers as we expect it to be for our good, because as the First Reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah says: Gods thoughts are not our thoughts; His ways are not our ways. We may be wondering why we sacrificed and prayed so hard to receive what we ask for, yet in the end the opposite is given to us. Because God knows what is best for us, and what is really good for us. We believe that His thoughts and His ways are much better that our thoughts and our ways. The problem is, it is very difficult to see His thoughts; and to understand His ways. Thus, many of us get discouraged, disappointed and angry, and stop praying altogether. Some even leave the Church and embrace another belief. Conclusion Let us, therefore, ask the Lord to help us see His thoughts, and understand His ways, so as to be able to accept His will for us. Most of the time we do not understand why sad, bad, difficult things come our way, thats why we have to be consoled by this: Gods thoughts are not our thoughts; His ways are not our ways. Let us believe that His thoughts and His ways are the best for us.
