This assignment gave me a lot of experience. Interviewing a person who contributes to society give a new experience to me. I have chosen Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy because he his contribute to society without expecting any reward. Im happy to get a chance to interview one of the person who has contributed to our community. I have gain many knowledge by doing this assignment. At same time this is first time im interview someone who do a lots to our community without expecting anything. I got a chance to interview him at his home, located in Felda Sendayan. His experience is deep in the field to contribute to society. He spoke of his experience to contribute to society. Here I would like to thank Mr.Subramaniam Samy to work together to promote the interview. I would also like to thank my colleagues who provide guidance for completing this task. Contributions and sacrifices he has to be appreciated. I really respect for his contributions. I learnt lot from this assignment. Especially, the way to interview someone and the focus of question that need to ask to the person. From this assignment , I realize the importance of contributing to society.

BIOGRAPHY OF INTERVIEWEE

MR.L.SUBRAMANIAM SAMY

Contribution to society is a precious thing . Now days not many people involved to work for the community. Each busy with their careers. Some people willing to do if they paid for it. But there are also people who take the time to think about community. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy is one example of people involved just to do good to society. By that I chose to interview Mr.Subramanian Samy. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy was born on 1. 08.1960 at Port Dickson Government Hospital. Now he his 51 years old . He his live at Felda Sendayan since born . He is studied in SJK (T) Labu and continue at SMK Seri Sendayan. His parents are rubbertapper. From the childhood he went to help their parents. He is born in large family. He is the only one son to his parents. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy has 4 elder sisters and 3 younger sisters. He is married to Mrs Thilagawathy and has 5 childrens. He have 4 sons and one daughter. Two of them are working, while other 3 are still in school. He works at Pusat Kualiti Alam, Felda Sendayan . He care for his mother who 80 years old. Although , his life is very busy but he still working hard and

contributed to the community. His life moto is do the best always. He believe in god always .

Mr.Subramaniam Samy is very nice person to interview. He likes to share all his experience to others. He is really very good in time management. I went to his house to interview him. He gave me good response. First of all he introduce his family members . Then , he started to share is experience to me. According to his word , he likes to do social service. Mother Theresa is a person who revered by Mr.Subramaniam Samy . Despite having a family and a heavy responsibility , but he willing to contribute to the community. He said he sarted to contribute to the community since in the childhood. In the teenagers age he join the teenagers club at Felda Sendayan to do social service. He first began to contribute as a member in team willing. He was patrolling at night in the village Sendayan. He said there are a round 50 members in a team. He has Malay and Chinese and Indian friends there . All of them are good friends. All of them take turn to patrolling the village. Every weekend they will have meeting at the hall to discuss the problems they are having . This team are together work to give safetyness to the village people.

Mr.subramaniam said by this patrolling activities they able to control crimes in their village. The peoples are live in well situation. He later became treasurer of the Temple Sri Maha Mariamman at Kampung Felda Sendayan. Peoples are choosed him as a treasurer for temple at Felda Sendayan . He became treasurer without pay granted. He was loved by many people because of his services. Althought, the treasurer is a very heavy responsibility , but he loved it. He said. He was selected to be

treasurer of the community. He his holding this post for many years . He is also respect our tradition and culture. Because of it , he is become a treasurer for Sri Maha Mariamman Temple at Felda Sendayan for more than 8 years . Since he became treasurer he helping the committee members to develop the temple . He said the peoples at the village going to get a new temple

very soon . Government is agree to build new temple in the village. It is because of the effort that is put by Mr.Subramaniam and the committee members. They going to start build temple on this September. He subsequently was elected as a chairman of the association of parents and teachers in SJK(T) Labu, Seremban. Already 6 years he was became chairman at the school. He said that he is formal student of the school. His contribution in the school is very much. First of all he is trying and managed to build a new building at the school. He said last time , the students use the old building with no facilities. According to him many parents work with him to build a new building. Many generous and donate millions came to give the charity. School teachers also work with association members. Now the school has all facilities like computer, library, canteen, school hall, bus shelter and many other facilities. Now the students are studied in the well situation. Mr.Subramaniam said he is very happy to see the people studied in the new building with all the facilities. According to his word , last May they are arrange a great function to celebrate the UPSR result. Last year the students produced good result in UPSR. 5 of 20 students get 7As in the examination. He arranged great prizes for the students. They bought BMX bicycle for the five students and Mr.Subramaniam was gave them RM.100 his own money for five of them. Other students also get prizes by the association of parents and teachers. Mr.Subramaniam said he very happy with the result and he wants to do more for the school. Here he would like to thank the headmistress Mrs.Krishnaveni and the teachers. He also contributed to the school. He be very happy and proud to be a chairman at SJK(T) Labu. There are 11 teachers at the school. 90 students are studying at the school. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy was contribute a lot for the school. He his very happy for this oppurtnity and he wants the school student gain knowledge in well environment. He his said that this is the last year he going to be the chairman at the school. Before leave the school , he want to do more and more good thing to the people. He his also become secretary for MIC branch at Kampung Gadong, Negeri Sembilan for more than 5 years. He is doing well his job as a secretary. Peoples are giving him the same post for his sincearity in job. He used this opportunity to help poor students. He bought them books and stationary. Sometimes he pays their school fees. He was a very kind person. He will always try to

get help from the MIC club to help the peoples. Mr.Subramaniam said became a secretary gave him a chance to meet many new peoples to ask donation. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy also become a auditor of the association of parents and teachers in SMK Seri Sendayan. He have leadership. Thats why he working hard . He is a great person in time management. He had been contributed to the community a lot. He is also help many people who in trouble by finding donation for them. Many people like him because he is very patient always. He always helped the local community people. There is always a visitor at a home asked for donation and other helps. I am really impressed by Mr.Subramaniam Samy. He said that, now his childrens were also involved to contribute to the community such as him. Mr.Subramaniam Samy he is the person who should respect for his service. He asked the youth to come and contribute to society . He said the teenager was capable for it he welcomed the youth to contribute to society. According to his word, he became very active in election time. He said he is very happy with our government. He said we always should thank our government for doing the best for our community. He is very brave saying that. At the finall, he said he will continue contribute to our community until the end. He really hope for the teenagers to join his to contribute to our community. So he sarted from his own family. Now his two elder sons are join him and help him to contribute to our community. Sometimes they will help him a lot at the temple. Mr.Subramaniam is very honest person in collecting money. He wont miss use the donation money. He always have the right details in account any time. Once in the month he produce the account in the meeting. He said, that he is a member of Malaysian Hindus organitation. By that he arranged the moral class at the temple to give speech to the peoples to develop a good generation in the future. Sometimes he will invite speaker from Malaysian Hindu Organitation and sometimes he will give speech. This class will be held on every Sunday 2.00-4.00pm at the temple hall. Mr.Subramaniam arranged tea time to the people using his own money.

Mr.Subramaniam Samys wife will make the tea for the people. Mr.Subramaniam Samy also arranged many activities for the childrens like colouring contest, poem contest,drama and many other activities. He also arranged sport activities to adults. He wants all the childrens at Felda Sendayan to be taught moral values. Mr.Subramaniam Samy is very active in playing football. He also getting money from MIC club members to buy ball and JC for the football taem at Felda Sendayan. He shows me the photos . He has many collection of photos. Since the beginning. He said , when he started to contribute to our community he faces a lot of troubles. But he never feel to give up . He takes thats as a challenge. Sometimes he wont have much time to spend for his family. But his wife take the responsibility to take care of their childrens. His wife help him a lot . When I ask questions , he answered my question with full of feelings. He really recall all the way of his experience. Mr.Subramaniam Samy said his friends also support him a lot to contribute to the community. He has many good friends. He said that at Pusat Kualiti Alam the working members support him and understand his situation. Sometimes they willing to change the working time if Mr.Subramaniam Samy have any important function at school or outside. Recently Mr.Subramaniam Samy took part in Felda Sendayan Belia member club. This club has been started by Penghulu Felda Sendayan. This Club begin to start on January 2011. Mr.Subramaniam became a member in this club. They do many social activities in Kampung Felda Sendayan. They help the vidos who lost their husband. They help their family by giving things like milk powder , milo, sugar and clothes. This club also help the poor students to pay their school fees. To help the people , the committee members went to meet Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan , Datuk Sri Mohd Hassan to ask for donation. Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy also one of the person who went to meet our Menteri Besar. They took this effort to get donation. The end of the meeting the Menteri Besar promised to give donation RM 5000 to the club Belia Felda Sendayan. Mr.Subramaniam Samy very proud of our Menteri Besar. He also very happy for get the donation and he said that the money will be used to develop their Belia club and help the

community. Now, he is decided to contribute as much for the club. He said the Tok Penghulus idea to started the Belia club is really good. All the people at Kampung Felda Sendayan became a member in this club without negative thoughts. Mr.Subramaniam Samy said that he provide the T-Shirt for the Belia club members. Its cost around RM 1000. According to his word his elder son was design the T-Shirt for the club members. He said he will contribute to any club which is do good things to people. On July this Belia club decidecd and plan to have a family day at Kampung Felda Sendayan field. Now , Mr.Subramaniam Samy was doing the preparation for it. After this interview he has a meeting at Belia club centre. Mr.Subramaniam hope that many peoples will came to join in the family day because many activities was prepared for peoples. He said that many VIPs are invited for this function to make it grand. There is no payment for any activities on the day. There is lucky draw on the day. Mr.Subramaniam Samy has been sponser syling fan as a lucky draw gift. He invited all villagers to took part in the family day and enjoy the day as possible. This interview is shown the contribution of Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy to community without expecting anything. He is really a great person . He should praised for his contribution for the community. All the teenagers should follow Mr.Subramaniam Samy in their life. He is one of the good example for others. Hope he continue is contribution for this community forever. Many people need his help. Our community should thank Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy for his contribution. Hope Mr.L.Subramaniam Samy really will get the bless of god always.

Kaleiwani : Hello, goog evening sir. Mr.Subra : Yes , Good evening . Please be sitted. Kaleiwani : Thank you sir. I am here to interview you for your contribution to the communities. Mr.Subra : Yes , of course can because this is my opportunity to share experience. (Q1) Kaleiwani: Sir, how long you hold the position of chairman of the association of parents and teachers at SJK(T) Labu? Mr.Subra : It has been almost five years I became chairman of the association of parents and teachers at SJK(T) Labu. (Q2) Kaleiwani: Sir, what is you aim and goal be the chairman of the association of parents and teachers at SJK(T) Labu ? Mr.Subra : My first aim and goal is to build a more comfortable building to students. This is because they use the damaged building as a classroom. Finally we have succeeded in building a new building on the help of many generous . I have done it because of many kindness peoples around us. (Q3) Kaleiwani: Sir, how is the relationship between yourself and the teachers at the school ? Mr.Subra : We are always cooperate with each other in an effort to develop the school. Mrs. Krishnaveni as headmaster at SJK(T) Labu is has a great partnership with our group. Once a week we gather to talk about problems at school. (Q4) Kaleiwani : What you do is really great sir. Sir , how do you spend the time to run your

responsibility ? Mr.Subra : Normally, I will distributed the time for each task. Two days a week I will go to school to meet teachers. At the evening I will go to the temple to make the task there. At the night I would be patrolling the village as a member of the group willing Sendayan. If there is a phone call, I will go to SMK Seri Sendayan.

(Q5) Kaleiwani : Sir, u are really contributed to our community. That is the reason people respect u very much. Sir, how do you feel carrying out as chairman without expecting any reward ? Mr.Subra : Im really proud and happy to have contributed to the community for giving me a opportunity to render a service to them. Peoples happiness is more important from the reward. (Q6) Kaleiwani : Sir , is it your family support you to do outside jobs ? Mr.Subra : Yes. My family is supporting me in my career . Sometimes they also support me and join in the activities of my personal design. They are really understand me and copperate with me in my works. Especially , my sons always like to help others any time. Im proud to have a very supportful family. Because they are encourage me always to do the best to our community. (Q7) Kaleiwani : Sir , What is your message to our younger generation in contributing to society? Mr.Subra : I like to invite them to do social service and contribute our community in younger age so that , they can do more better things than myself. Now days our younger

generation people have very powerful and more creative thingking. They are the best person to work for the betterment of society. We can copperate amoung us to do social service to our community. English Camp for UPSR Candidates 2011

Introduction

Every year the English Language Panel carries out the English camp activity for the students. The target group for the activity are year 6 students which the candidates of UPSR Examination .The camp is carry out purposely to increase percentage of students who conquer the grade c in English Language paper in UPSR Examination. Besides that, the purpose of this camp is to increase the numbers of students that can answer both paper 1 and paper 2 question. This year, the panel members decided to do it differently by carring out this activity at the different venue , which is at Selandar Community Collage . Instead of being handled by the teacher. This time the activity was handled by English

course students from Universiti Malaya . All of them are formal student of SJK(T) Ladang Regent. The purpose is to give new environment to the students and give their chance experiencing learning session with different speakers or teachers as the guest speakers are from Unisersiti Malaya. Besides that, SJK(T) Ladang Regent , under several others panel and committee, is severally carried out so much activity and collaboration with people from the Universiti Malaya since few years back. So it is easy for the English panel to communicate and working with them. The camp was carried out in one day which was in 25 April 2011 for UPSR candidates. Teacher incharge for this English camp is Mrs Punitha who being Year 6 English teacher. 54 Year 6 students were took part in this English camp. The English Panel were prepared all the facilities for the students and the teachers to make the English camp successful. All the teachers were given their support to arrange the English camp. Objectivities

1. Increase percentage of students who conquer the minimum c grade in English Language paper in the UPSR Examination. 2. Increase the numbers of students that can answer both paper 1 and paper 2 questions. 3. Effectives learning activities will help students to be more alert and enthusiastic to tackle problems in their upcoming examination. 4. Open the students eyes and expose them to the world of University Malaya and life in collage such as this Selandar Community Collage , so that it can boost their spirit and desire to go for high education instituation like this in the future. 5. To well prepared the students with fully related knowledge and motivation before their facing the upcoming huge examination. 6. By sharing ideas and doing collaboration with the collage, it could strengthen the positives relationship and communication among teachers and students of SJK(T) Ladang Regent with the coordinator and students from Universiti Malaya. Total 54 numbers of students , which are the UPSR Examination candidates , were assembling at the school at 7.00 am in the morning. Teachers gave briefing to the student

about the rules and regulation of the English camp. Teacher check the presence of the all Year 6 students. The students departed from school at 7.30 am in the morning and arrived at around 8.30 am . As that students arrived , the coordinator leaded them to the ball where the talk will be presented. The chairman started welcoming everybody and without wasting time, she called the first speakers to present, followed by the second speakers. The talks was concentrated and emphasized on grammar part, as the matter or fact that most of the students are very week in grammar section. Among of the grammar topics that have been presented by the speakers were such as nouns, adjectives, verbs as well as adverbs. Besides giving talks and explanation, the speakers were also gave the students exercises so that the students will be more understand. The speakers give short notes to the students to memorise easily. The way the speakers gave explanation is really interesting. The speakers gave chance to the students to ask questions to solve their problems. The English panel of SJK(T) Ladang Regent arranged all the facilities for the students such as foods, books and blank papers for them to do group activities. The student who go to camp gain positive, social skills and positive values as well as increased physical skills . From this camp students learn new skills , make wonderful frienship amoung them , learn to be a team players, gain self confidence and become independent, have fun in a relaxed and a secure environment. Teachers have been running the programme proper. The English camp was carried out such as planned. This programme is encourage interest in learning English amoung students. Give energy and positive thingking to achive their goals in UPSR Examination. Students learn science in a way that cheerful activities. A lot of new techniques has been introduced to UPSR candidates. All the facilitators are very humble and guide the students to solve their problems. Students felt very comfortable to mixed with all the facilitators. The weaknesses of programme is the duration of this English camp . The camp was held only one day. The time were very short to the student to improve their English grammar because many other programme was had by the teachers. Student really need time to correct their mistakes. Student need more explanation for paper 2. There are many students who cannot afford and be afraid to try. Only a few students are involved 100%. Many students are afraid and shy to ask. Students had to rush for each and every activities

because the time was given were very short. Students are forced to miss many programmes. So , that they unable to make the conclusion of the activities. Students achievement was very less. This English camp should be had more than one day in the future. People should give chance to stay at the college to feel the collage life. Than students will learnt to be more independent and panctuall in time. Additional of time will make the students to enjoy this English camp. The number of speaker also need to increase. Each and every group should have one speaker to guide them. Student need to listen speech on time management, plan to achive their goals and do some group works which can help the students to correct their friends mistakes. They can move in group activities. Students needs more grammar games. Games helps the students to learnt easy and to remember the exam notes. This kind of programme should be organized for the year four and five students as a advance programme for their UPSR Examination. Opportunities should gave to them to do well preparation for the examination.So that they can gain knowledge about their question papers. Conclusion

Hopefully this activity well prepare the students before they are facing their major examination. It is helped that the students gain so much knowledge and information that are essential for the examination. This collaboration with another instituation shoul be carry on in the future because it does not only give benefits to the students of both parties , but it also gives benefits to the students of both parties, but it also gives benefits to the administration and organized itsef. With this collaboration, it can increase the management or coordination of a program in the future by exchange opinion and ideas . It also can strengthen the relationship between both parties. It is also hoped that the students will take advantages and benefits out of this activity as they are about to face UPSR examination. At the end of the talk , the chairman once again thanked all people that involved. Than the headmaster of SJK(T) Ladang Regent was given speech to all the students. She

thanked all facilitators for their kindness by handling the English camp. She lets her hopes to the students to do their best in the examination. Later she handed the souvenier to both speakers. Students were awarded certificate by the English society and a trophy from the school for their kind participation. All Year 6 parents were took part in last programme. Facilitators given speech to all the parents to guide their childrens to do the preparation for the UPSR examination . All the students felt very happy to join this English camp. They really need a motivation to be concern in their studies. They thanked their facilitators and the teachers for organized a very meaningful camp for them. Before back they promised to facilitators and the teachers to get a good result in UPSR Examination. There back to school with full confident to face their UPSR Examination. Students took school bus from Selandar Community collage and some students was followed their parents.

Introduction The English Day on 5th Mac 2011 was terrific! About 160 students from SJK(T) Ladang Regent participated in the activities organized by the English society of SJK(T) Ladang Regent, Gemencheh . To love, to enjoy and to explore English , was the theme of English Day. In order to enhance students interests in learning English different marvelous and interesting activities were held during the English Day. This English Day coordinators are Mrs Punitha and Mrs Kayathiri. All the teachers become activity advisors for the English Day. Initial preparations have been made in conjunction with this program. School board was decorated with banners and flowers. The activities that had by the English society are treasure hunt, language games, public speaking and colouring competition. Classrooms were used to had the competition. Each

competition incharged by two teachers. Pupils were given time early to do preparation for public speaking. All the students were given briefing about the activities on English Day activity. With the aim to explore English in fun ways, this year the English society had an innovative and creative attempt. Games draw was held. Pupils buy lucky draw ticket. Special prizes were available for the lucky draw. The first prize was the sponser by the cahairman of the Regents farm . Prize is a plasma tv and second prize is labtop and third prize is a BMX bicycle. Objectivities

The objective of the English Day were to instill leadership qualities, improve teamwork amoung participants ,to arouse students interests in Learning English through language games and to develop leardership skill. All the teachers and students of the various clubs in school had gathered at the school hall at 8.00 am. At there, the students were given a small brefing on the rules and regulation by the teachers according to the English Day activities. Then , the students were put into groups based on the activities. The English Day were held from 8.00 am until 3.00pm. Level 1 students were took part in language games and colouring competition. Cartoon pictures with English Day theme were gave to the students to colour. Children really love to colour. They are really joining English Day activities with enjoyable and fruitful experience to improve their English skills. Students actively participating in school English Day activities and enjoy learning English. This is really unforgettable experience for them. They learnt how to play with English words and cooperate with their freinds. Students try to answer bravely. They were able to display their talent during the English day. Through the English Day activities , Level 2 students have built up their confidence in English speaking. Their motivation in learning the language is enhanced. Students could speak fluently and confidently infront of the audience and their speeches were interesting , inspiring and valuable. The teachers really proud of the students. Students really interested to take part in the activities. The students who took part in public speaking are able to gain self confidence and become independent.

The starting point for the treasure hunt were in the school hall and the players were required to read the hidden messages at different checkpoints.The game was indeed a success as the participants had used natural English acquired in English class. Students really enjoy this programme. They help each and every one in their group. The student success is reflected through their confident performances and endless praises from teachers, fellow classmates and judges. Their ability to overcome and build strong self confidence are all results of their hard work. The language games aimed to provide students with an opportunity to learn English through fun games. Students found the games very intriguing and interesting. The games helped them learnt some new English words that they could hardly learnt in class. However, the games really motivated them and helped them realize the importance of English grammar and vocabulary response. All the students were quite enthusiastic in playing the language games. Level 2 students particularly enjoyed the games. Level 1 students , being unfamiliar with the syntactic . Overall, the activity was a success in respect of students participation and

relationship of the word, found it hard to make a correct choice. However the games really motivated them. The response of students were overwhelming . Some students suggested that this kind of activities should be organized regularly. However all the students participated actively . All the English society members really did a great job and they tried their very best to make the English day success. On the English Day, the English caf was definitely a fun place to visit, where students could enjoy chatting with teachers in English, having mouth-watering delicacies and watching an array of English activities. One group of English society students was arranged the caf to earn money for their society. They used the chance bravely, The public speaking , performed by the individuals , was able to enthrall the audience. Their performance was amazing. More and more students actively participating in English Day activites and enjoy learning English. This program can tap into student talent. All activities are great and can tap into students thinking skill.

Indeed, the huge success of this function should be attributed to the valuable suggestions given by the teachers advisors, the hardwork of participants and the whole-hearted support by the audience , who completely immersed in a joyful English-learning environment. This English

Day really gave benefits to all the students. They gain many knowledge from this activities. They really feel enjoy by joining this English Day. Students really enjoy to learnt by the games .

Many variety of food stalls have been arranged by English panel. Teachers accompanied the students to set up small stalls. Students distributed coupons to buy food, at the canteen. The food sold was ice cream, canned drinks, cakes, nuggets, burger, nasi lemak and others. All the students responsible for maintaining stalls. This sales goal is to buy English story books. English panel decided to gave story books to students to read on every Wednesday. All the food stalls received overwhelming response from students. The strengths of this English Day is to encourage students to learnt English. At the end of the English Day students able to work in their groups and cooperate amoung them . Students had been feel a different environment at school. Pupils get chance to take part in different activities. The English Panel of SJK(T) Ladang Regent were arrange challenging programme to the students. The weakness of this English Day is very short and the time is not enough. Teachers were rushing to finish all the activities . Suddenly, that day were raining. Students facing problem in treasure hunt activities. Some check points was cancel because raining. Many activities were canceld due to heavy rains. So that , games were held in the classroom. This caused many who had gathered in the classroom. Is due instruction give by teachers were unclear and distributed. Because of that students facing problems. However, they finished the games. Many parents were present to support their children. Parents coul dnot stop clapping and cheering for their childrens . Parental support has emboldened the students. This English day an unforgettable experience for students . This English Day bring many benefits to the students. They gained a lot from this English Day. The English Panel were arranged the well programme for the students this year. At the end of the English, all the students and teachers were gathered at the school hall. Prize giving ceremony were held in the school hall. Headmaster gave prize to the student who won the competition and games. She thanked all the students that involved in English Day.

Lucky draw was held at the end of the program. The first prize was won by Kumar from Year 6 Mawar . The prize were given by the headmaster. The headmaster handed the souvenir to the English Panel of SJK(T) Ladang Regent . Students feel very happy when get the prize. Student back to their home at 3.00pm. Conclusion Hopefuly by this activity will prepare the students to speak in English. It is hoped that the students gain so much of knowledge and information by the games that prepared by the English Panel. This programme strengthen the relationship between friends. It is also hoped that the students will take advantages and benefits out of this activity. Students are interested to take part in English Day activities. Students hope that this competition will be held each year. The English Panel decided to organize this kind of activity for the students every year.
