Our CAF (Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and Expand Vocabulary) strategy this week is: CHUNK IT! A chant we say to help us remember this Accuracy strategy is: CHUNK IT, CHUNK IT, Find parts you know! So encourage your child to practice this strategy at home when he/she comes to an unknown word. During Read to Someone we have been learning different ways to read with a partner. Have your child share with you the different ways we get to read with a partner in our classrooms:

BE Respectful, BE Responsible, BE Fair-Minded

Writing
This week we wrote about how we help at home. We have worked hard on effectively using our Umbrella Planner to organize our thoughts in order to create a great piece of writing. We will share these planners with you at Parent/Teacher Conferences. Another DLI(Daily Language Instruction) packet is coming home in your childs backpack. The purpose of DLI is to work on the conventions in our writing. If there are sheets that come home we didnt get to, please use them to do some extra practice at home.
