“Active Voice” & “Passive Voice”

Active Voice คือประโยคที่ประธานเป็นผู้กระทำากริยาในประโยคนั้น เช่นตัวอย่างที่ 1 ส่วน

Passive Voice คือ ประโยคที่ประธานเป็นผู้ที่ถูกกระทำา เช่นตัวอย่างที่ 2

1. The maid washed the clothes yesterday.

2. The clothes were washed yesterday (by the maid)

การเปลี่ ย นประโยค Active Voice ให้ เ ป็ น Passive Voice จะต้ อ งดู Tense ของประโยค
Active Voice เป็ น หลั ก และเปลี่ ย นให้ เ ป็ น ประโยค Passive Voice อยู่ ใ น Tense เดิ ม โดย
โครงสร้าง ของประโยค Passive Voice จะเป็นดังนี้ คือ

­ สำาหรับ Present Simple Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง

is/am/are + กริยาช่องที่ 3
­ สำาหรับ Past Simple Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
was/were + กริยาช่องที่ 3
­ สำาหรับ Present Continuous Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
is/am/are + being + กริยาช่องที่ 3
- สำาหรับ Past Continuous Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
was/were + being + กริยาช่องที่ 3
- สำาหรับ Present Perfect Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
has/have + been + กริยาช่องที่ 3
- สำาหรับ Past Perfect Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
had been + กริยาช่องที่ 3
- สำาหรับ Future Tense จะใช้โครงสร้าง
will/shall + be + กริยาช่องที่ 3

หมายเหตุสำาหรับประโยค ActiveVoice ที่มีกริยาช่วยอื่นเช่น

can,could,should,would,may และ might จะใช้โครงสร้างคือ“กริยาช่วย + be + กริยาช่อง
ที่ 3”

ประโยค Passive Voice มักใช้ในกรณีที่ต้องการเน้นที่ผู้ถูกกระทำา เช่นตัวอย่างที่ 3 หรือในกรณีที่ไม่ทราบ

ว่าผู้กระทำาเป็นใคร เช่นตัวอย่างที่ 4
3. Jane was taught to be polite.
4. Jack’s car was stolen.

ความหมายของตัวอย่างที่ 3 คือ “Jane ถูกสอนให้เป็นคนสุภาพ” ผู้ที่สอน Jane อาจเป็นพ่อแม่หรือครูก็ได้

แต่ในกรณีนี้ผู้พูดไม่ได้ต้องการเน้นว่าใครเป็นผู้สอน แต่ต้องการเน้นที่ประธานคือ Jane ว่าได้ถูกอบรมให้เป็น
คนสุภาพ
ความหมายของตัว อย่า งที่ 4 คื อ “รถของ Jack ถูกขโมย” ในกรณี นี้ผู้ พูดไม่ ทราบว่ า ผู้ ที่ข โมยรถ
ของ Jack คือใคร จึงใช้ประโยค Passive Voice
นอกจากนี้ มี ป ระโยคจำา นวนมากที่ ไ ม่ จำา เป็ น ต้ อ งกล่ า วถึ ง ผู้ ก ระทำา กริ ย าเลย และควรอยู่ ใ นรู ป
Passive Voice มากกว่า Active Voice เช่น ประโยคที่ 5-10

5. Rice is eaten commonly in most Asian countries.

6. Two men were injured in the accident.
7. Pearls are found in oysters.
8. The plane was delayed for an hour.
9. Cigarettes are packed in boxes.
10. Eggs are sold at the market.

ในประโยค Passive Voice ส่วนใหญ่ ผู้พูดจะกล่าวถึงผู้กระทำาหรือไม่กล่าวถึงก็ได้ขึ้นอยู่กับผู้พูด

ว่าต้องการเน้นว่าใครเป็นผู้กระทำากริยาด้วยหรือไม่ อย่างไรก็ดี จะพบว่ามีหลายครั้งที่ผู้กระทำาในประโยค
Passive Voice ไม่ ส ามารถถู กตัดออกไปได้เ พราะจะทำา ให้ค วามหมายของประโยคไม่ ส มบู รณ์ เช่ น

Passive Voice: “The Moving Fingers” was written by
Agatha Christy.
ในตัวอย่างที่ 11 ความหมายของประโยค Passive Voice จะไม่สมบูรณ์หากตัดส่วนผู้ กระทำา
กริยาของประโยคคือ “by Agatha Christy”
