LESSON PLAN

Date: 29th of April 2011 School: Grup colar Mihai Ciuc, Sveni, Botoani Title of the lesson: Terrorism Text-book: Mission Content of the lesson: vocabulary related to terrorism and crime, freedom of speech, use of tenses, useful expressions, collocations, word formation Time: 50 minutes Class X-a Teacher: Turcu Mihai Skills covered: Reading, listening, writing, speaking Aims: identification of new vocabulary items, looking for information in the text, working in pairs or groups, formulating opinions, both written and oral, identifying the global meaning Aids: Textbooks, blackboard, audio material Methods: Conversation, observation, exercise Activities: 1- Warm-up (2min.) : The teacher greets the students, checks if there are students missing and organizing the class Type of interraction: T-Ss 2- Lead-in (3min): The teacher announces the title of the new lesson and writes it on the blackboard(Terrorism). Teacher communicates the objectives of the lesson and asks students questions related to the concept of Terrorism Students answer the questions skills- speaking Type of interraction: T-Ss

3- Pre-reading (8 min) The teacher asks the students to look at the picture at page 134 and describe what it represents and what it denotes and discuss some ideas related to the subject from the beginning of the lesson. Students answer the questions and express their oppinions. The teacher asks the students to read the T/F statements on page 134 and then the students will listen to the audio from part 1 and answer the questions individually. The teacher checks Type of interraction: T-Ss 4- reading (7min) The teacher asks the students to read the texts related to terrorism (page 135) and match the sentences with the pieces of text, The students work in pairs. The teacher ckecks the answers and corrects the errors. Type of interraction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss 5- after-reading practice/follow-up (25min) The teachers organizez the class in pairs of small groups of four and assigns the studenst to do the exercises on page 136-137. Each pair or group is assigned a certain part from the exercise. The students work together for the exercises and the teacher walks around and checksIf the students have unknown words, the teacher will explain the meaning of the words In the end the pairs/groups exchange informations about the results of the exercises. Students are invited to the blackboard to write the answers and read them to the others. The students are encouraged to express their own oppinion and support it. The students will exchange information and each partener will have to explain what the other has written, sharing his knowledge with the rest of the class. The teacher writes the new vocabulary on the blackboard and explains the words. Type of interraction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss 6- Reinforcement/conclusion(5 min) The teacher evaluates the students activity/feekback and and answers questions The teacher gives the students to do homework and explains the task.
