There were analyzed two types of material, one existing and one proposed, using for analysis the Dang Van criterion. The objective of these calculations was to demonstrate the absence of cracks during the tests of endurance, established by the book of specifications. CAR2011XXXX

KEYWORDS: modal analysis, disc brakes, fork, caliper, FEM. ABSTRACT: This paper presents a first study on the dynamic analysis made on some basic parts of the front brake assembly, e.g. the disc brake, the fork and the caliper. The main purpose of this analysis is to find the characteristic vibration modes with values that are likely to come into close resonance. The CAD models of these parts were obtained using CATIA V5 software, and the calculation was performed using finite element software provided by MSC/NASTRAN software. The experimental measurements were made within the laboratory of vibration of the University of Pitesti. CAR2011XXXX

THE DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF THE FRONT AXLES LOWER ARM

1

Petrache, Gheorghe*, 2Vieru, Ionel, 2Prlac, Sebastian, 2Nicolae, Viorel 1 Renault Romania, 2University of Pitesti, Romania KEYWORDS: dynamic analysis, lower arm, CAE, FEM ABSTRACT: This paper presents a frequency analysis performed for a front axles arm, made of iron plate. The calculation was done using the finite element method and the experimental study used the technique of analysis with the accelerometers, for determining the characteristic frequencies by spectral analysis of the transfer function between the excitation signal generated by an impact hammer and the acceleration signal measured at different points on the arm. The analyses were performed both on the single arm and on the assembled

arm. The dynamic analysis performed led to the conclusion that the studied part has an appropriate dynamic behavior and is in accordance with the specifications. The numerical dynamic analysis is an important step in evaluating the dynamic behavior of the axles and their parts.
