AdhUnIk CorP is to set up a 500,000 tpa sponge iron plant and a 25 MW CPP at jamshedpur in east Singhbhum district of jharkhand. the steel complex envisages an investment of Rs.4,000 million to be funded through term loan from banks & internal accruals. Consultants & equipment suppliers are yet to be finalized. As of May 2007, clearances were awaited. The civil work was expected to begin after obtaining the clearances. AdItyA AlUmInA, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries is to set up a 1.5 million tpa alumina refinery and 3,25,000 tpa aluminium plant in Orissa. As of March 2007, the company had obtained in-principle approval and was in the process of acquiring land. Plans are also on the anvil to set up another 1.5 million tpa alumina plant at Utkal in orissa. the project entails an investment of Rs.110,000 million. The project is to be implemented in joint venture with Alcan, Canada. the scheme also includes setting up of 260,000 tpa aluminium smelter and 650 MW captive power plant besides development of 3 million tonnes bauxite mine. AgnI SteelS is planning to double the capacity of sponge iron at its existing Ingur facility in erode district of tN. the project is to raise the capacity from 100 tpd to 200 tpd at a cost of Rs.1,200 million. AkShAy ISPAt Udyog is planning to set up a 300 tpd to 400 tpd sponge iron unit in two phases at Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. the project also includes setting up of a rolling mill and a 8 MW WHR based Captive Power Plant. bASAI SteelS is to set up an integrated steel plant at Sidiginahola Village in Bellary district of Karnataka. The integrated steel complex will comprise 700 tpd sponge iron unit, 250,000 tpa rolling mill, 50 MW WHR based captive power plant, 1000 tpd pelletisation plant, 30 tonnes induction furnace, 200 cu.mtr mini blast furnace and a electric arc furnace. the entire project is estimated to cost Rs.5,000 million.
