the projects listed below can either be developed in Java or VB/ASP combination, although I have
categorized them in Java category and VB/ASP category separately.

Write a java applet that will render a XML. This XML will be created
from the data contained in either SQL Server or MS-Access

the values for the variables in the equation. For example consider
this simple mathematical equation:

Here the values for X, Y and Z are not known initially and will be
decided by the user on the run time. Thus if this equation is given
to the “Equation Solver” system, it will automatically prompt for
the values for the variables contained in the equation and will
generate the output accordingly.

Title Batch renamer

This application will help user in renaming multiple files or series of

files in one go. This helps especially when the files of same name
needs to be arranged in sequential order. The application will
support wildcard characters. For example if someone wants to
rename all the files of a particular folder into a sequence starting
with 0 user will input something like this:
*0.*
Description Where the first “*” character makes sure that the existing file
name is not disturbed. The “0” after that post-fixes first file from
the folder with 0 and the “*” after the dot symbol ensures that the
files extension is intact.
Thus files “A.txt”, “B.txt”, and “C.txt” will be renamed to “A0.txt”,
“B1.txt” and “C2.txt” respectively.
Note: The “*” characters can also be replaced with any static text
string.

with members M1, M2, M3, M4. Then I create another group called
“Group2” which consist of members M1, and M3. Now while
sending a particular mail if I want to send it to all the members of
“Group1” except those in “Group2” I will write in the “To” field
something like this:

To: Group1 – Group2

The application should automatically delete all the member of
“Group2” from list of member from “Group1”. This activity of
subtraction maybe called as exclusion. Similarly inclusion should
also be possible. Inclusion is exactly reverse of exclusion. In
inclusion one can use + sign instead of – to add members of both
the groups.
